Yup it is a real problem even if you just going towards the base people will kill you because they will think you are going there to bomb it
Never really had an issue myself in ARB. and I play a lot of Mud movers. Which mud movers are you stuck grinding?
You can also play ASB, mud movers excell in that gamemode.
Bring back friendly fire to GRB
What i find strange is that rushing bases in current air rb format is probably the most unfun experience ive ever had. Tried to grind walleyes on the A-7E recently and it was absolute slog (made worse by the fact that once ive got walleyes they turned to be absolute dogwater on A-7E).
How can people do it every game and not get bored, to the point the lack of bases is geniune problem for air rb, is beyond me.
I’m currently playing B-57B and is so hard to get RP in that thing since competing against early jets with afterburner like SU-7s, F3H or even F-84 which spawn ahead from the bombers they reach enemy bases faster than me even if I dive to gain speed.
I mean I know is not a rule about pinging the base to let your teammates know the base you want to take out, but people simply are on their business or do not care and bomb the base you were heading to and then you have to change direction and hope to that base to not be taken out by another teammate plus evading enemy fighters who looks at you like a free kill.
GAIJIN could make the bases unique to each player, so you can go and take the bases without War Thunder become N.GEN Racing (PS1 game) game.
yeah sadly
Hmm… You could try flying defensively early game, skirt out far left and wait for bases to respawn and when they do, attack those.
But the change I would like them to make is just to make the forward AF an attackable target like AFs are in ASB. That way there is always something to bomb.
But I would suggest giving Air Sim a go. Its tricker to play because you need to fly in cockpit with full controls, but there is always something to bomb and you can be far far more sneaky. Im planning on dusting of the Canberra Mk2 at some point in ASB for some chill gameplay
If only there were ground targets like howitzers, pillboxes, and anti-air to frag as well…
Play simulator… no seriously.
Engine on, take off, vibe on a path you think no one will see you, bomb target, RTB.
For airfields you climb as well.
Or coordinate with your team.
If you’re friendly and chatty and engage with your teammates, then I’m confident people in mustangs and stuff will jump at the chance to LARP as escort fighters at prop tiers.
I know I do if I’m playing allies.
I despise zombers (people who J out out of spite when intercepted, people who refuse to communicate and fly without coordinating with their team), but I love LARPing and having meaning & purpose to my air superiority objectives.
Strike planes & bombers can win sim matches if properly supported, too!
I’ve had a USSR vs ITA/GER game where ITA/GER had better dogfighters and numerical superiority, but my team’s Il-2, A-20G carried the day going to absolute town on the NPC PzIVs, ostwinds and minibases while me and another yak1b just tried our best to keep the bf109s distracted and maybe kill them, but mostly distracted.
You can even use Team Sim LFG discord to form pick-up groups of formation flight shenanigans. WingalingDragon himself regularly does such (barely a week ago he organized a massive B17 canyon run! I missed it, but I heard people had a lot of fun.)
As an added bit:
You don’t need expensive equipment to fly sim. Mouse and keyboard is very viable even in chaotic dogfights.
Here’s my control setup (optimized for propeller fighters, but for strike/bombers you mostly just need to add convenient keys to swap to bombardier and gunner views and you’ll be fine: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarthunderSim/comments/1la109e/good_starting_equipment/mxhzhev/)
You can also buy a cheap Logitech flight stick.
Or even a cheap xbox controller.
Did a quick check and the flight stick is cheaper than the controller lol
Really? I remember buying an xbox controller years ago for about £10.
Brand new they are like $60-70 now it’s insane. Extreme 3d pro stick will cost like $33-35
Holy moly
Isn’t it super wiggly and imprecise though (at least for purposes of flying props)? Most reviews of flight equipment I watched basically told me to ignore stuff unless it’s mounted in a specific way and has this or that kind of sensors that I decided is far too rich for my blood with my current income levels.
Although my point stands tho - sim accessibility is nowhere as high barrier as popular belief would lead one to believe, and one should give it a try regardless of what they can afford.
I got a refurb Logitech 3D Pro sent to my door for $26 USD . . . I got it to fly helis
(you really need foot pedals to fly helis properly . . . lol)
So I call it . . . the “dust collector” . . . but it works
that was 2 - 3 years ago for reference tho . . .
Yeah it isn’t the best but it works more than well enough for bombing and airstrikes. Used in conjunction with a keyboard and mouse and it isnt as bad as some reviewers would have you think
Yeah I got mine brand new like 3 years ago for $30
