Do you have like 3 buttons you can tap very quickly and easily? Props are kinda the same deal, and there you can try mimicing IL-2:GB’s control scheme by going into rudder axis and enabling “Relative axis”, set rudder under movement to 100% sensitivity, do the same in the axis submenu and then toy around with relative control step and non-linearity.
What this does is it emulates putting your foot on a pedal and just resting it there rather than the wacky default RB/AB scheme where pressing Q once gives you max deflection then resets to zero.
Instead, you tap Q once and get 3% left rudder. Tap Q twice, you get 6% right rudder. You press E, and you go back to 3% left rudder.
Tap Q 3 times and it’s 12% left rudder, press 2 (reset axis bind) and now it’s 0% rudder. Tap E twice and now it’s 6% right rudder. (this is with 1.5 non-linearity and 3% relative control step, 100% sensitivity)
It’s been legit gamechanging to discover with props (especially bf109s without rudder trim) and might help you put your helicopter stick to use?
Getting precise, sudden and significant deflection is harder than keeping things coordinated in flight. Long presses are unpredictable, and their extent is controlled by non-linearity. It’s all vibes based, but kinda learnable. Just need to adjust non-linearity based on what you’re flying (I use 2.0 non-linearity for 109s and spitfires, 1.5 for the g.55 sotto 0 I’ve been spamming lately). It’s enough to quickly whip nose on target while spraying lead downrange and to do forward slip landings without killing yourself.
