This game feels made by marketing and managment for maximum revenue

Seriously, WT isn´t a game, its a virtual casino. There is no passion or interrest to make the game good, just make it more profitable and good enough to “Justify” the huge amount of monetization.

And you can´t escape it.
I recently tryed some Heli PvE again and just wanted to let of some steam, after bursting a bloodvessel (and i mean that, nosebleed) from the utter stress that is top-tier air arcade, where the maps are made for WW2 Prop Planes, but played with high end , FOX-3 throwing, jets.

So i wanted to blast away with the Battle Hawk and its 16 Spikes (expensive machine) in Heli PvE. But i stopped not long after. Because you can´t properly lock moving targets in this mode.
Its already janky enough trying to lock on and shoot a missel at the planes (sometimes it just refuses to shoot the missel, because, i have no idea). But the worst are the ground targets, who are horrible lagging all over the place and there grafical appearance is practicly never alligned with there actual position.

Meanwhile, Gaijin wastes ressources to force Raytracing into this game, which is just horrible by itself. I try useing it, since release, with my RTX 4090. And it was unplayble until the recent update. Now the performance is still bad and the game still frequently crashs, but atleast i can play somewhat without haveing to switch back to Direct X 11 Mode, just to be able to play a match from beginning to end, uninterrupted.

And why do they do all this? Its very obviouse, Raytracing is the newest thing and easily advertisable. So instead of actualy maintaining, repairing and upgrading the base game, they just shove raytracing in the game to check another marketing checkbox.

Really, this game just feels like pure bait to get you to buy stuff, that ultimatly won´t make it much better.

And i´m sick and tired of it. After over 10.000 playtime and just as much Euros spend over the last years, I´m stopping to buy anything and look for alternatives. As gaijin shows no sign of actually careing about this game, beyond it being a Money Generator.

Anyone else, feeling the same way ?

It used to be significantly worse, I remember when some plane repair costs were upwards of 50K sl

Yeah it’s not as it used to be. Although back then the grind was way worse you could feel they gave love to the game and the content had quality. Currently it’s the opposite; quantity.

And I’m going to be real, if it’s starting to affect your health in such ways you should abstain from playing it. I did also use to get really furious, something that was solved by simply not playing. The level of stress and focus required to play sometimes is not worth it.

The funny thing about the graphics changes?

They were done at cost of actually immersion-improving graphics.

Back in the day, you had spiderweb cracks and shattered glass when your cockpit was hit.

You had actual visible holes and damage in your wings rather than nothing indicating damage other than the damage doll.

I want these graphics back.

Look at the damage doll. A bullet hit my pilot, meaning I had a bullet go through my frontal windscreen.

Does it look like I took damage? If I was flying HUDless (which would be neat because it’s a plane with english instruments and I speak english!), I’d have no idea that I just had a near-death experience.

Edit: This is less about “Immersion lost for fancier graphics”, and more literal “Gameplay is lost for fancier graphics.”

I didn’t fly markerless modes until the past year but I’m told that a few years ago, such an event would’ve never occured:

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/nK41ZVKawoVf

Basically, enemies one second render as if they’re many kilometers away, only showing their fuselage as tiny black dots. 1 second later without any change in conditions you can now see their enormous wings and tails. Suffice to say, trying to guesstimate distance, heading and relative speed is kind of impossible if the enemy wings don’t render as they should for no reason.

This did not use to be an issue back in the day I’m told.

It seems to be caused by the cloud occlusion being broken when a plane flies in front of a cloud even at large distances.

I miss the canopy getting doused in oil/sut when you flew behind someone who was trailing oil/smoke/fire.

Pretty sure it still does, but not as aggressive and doesnt stay that long

Yeah… that was an awesome effect.

it does still occur like DarKBird mentioned:

but you have to be super-close, as in nearly colliding (in my experience)

Me too… Me too…

I’ve never heard the damage indicator (as I would probably describe it) called a damage doll. Is this a gaming term? Or maybe a language/culture translation thing? (genuine question)

Playing air arcade is such a terrible idea tho (I play air arcade because I’m too bad to play realistic)

You play arcade even in top tier?

Same. Though arcade feels half done. Like, they wanted to make an arcade gamemode, but then stopped halfway through and just dumped it in the game. I notice this mostly on the controls, like the weapon selector and Radar.
They are very complex, what doesn´t mix well with the crazy fast instant action.
I have hope the simplyfication of naval arcade is just the beginning of simplefying and streamlining arcade in general.

Yeah true, I’ll move to realistic battles when I’ll have time and motivation to learn because arcade gets worse and worse the higher you go

this is far from being the only typo, just ignore them we all do some
And if you really feel the need to correct every mistake at least do it in one message

I am slowly combing through the words.

Probably a (graphical) MUD (Multi-user Dungeon) and TTRPG (Table-top Roleplaying game) term. At least, that’s where I’ve heard it used and picked it up from.

Both are usually slow-paced, often turn-based video games with minimal visual feedback (if any), so you’d use paper dolls to track damage in systems where limb hitpoints are a thing for TTRPGs, and MUDs are basically an automated online form of TTRPGs.
