Just got this funny looking truck, and horeshet bro the ammo is completely useless like who the hell can’t kill TAM from the side? it cannot even go through any engine from the sides or back and overall feel worse than 50 cal. What it can kill? l3/33c or helicopters?
I only have experience with dm63 which is on the xm800t, so I expect them to perform the same. But the issue is it being tier 4 upgrade so if you can’t kill a thing this gonna take a while from kill assist via scouting. Hopefully the 9.0 version don’t have such issue as it’s a 25mm, the one on the Adats is very good, if they are they same then I probably skip this prototype.
At this state the rcv p is worse than driving the mbt70 around and using only the 20mm, because that one doesn’t have to reload after firing 100 bullets lol
The ammo is something but it doesn’t make the vehicle worse. Althought at this particular battle rating you’ll face a lot of heavy vehicles what the Type 87 RCV (P) excels at is scouting. In other words the 20 mm Rh202 autocannon is your self-defense weapon.
Type 87 RCV will be a great vehicle for sure. It’s my second favourite vehicle in the japanese ground tech tree, only behind the Type 89 IFV. The 25 mm APDS-FS found in the Type 87 RCV is effectively enough that very short burst in well placed shots are enough to take out most targets,
When you master this vehicle, reloading the autocannon will be a uncommon during fights. Regarding the Type 87 RCV (P)s’ 20 mm Rh202 autocannon, it’s good. Given that the vehicle has dual-axis stabilization, good mobility for a wheeled vehicle in War Thunder, this surely is an advantage over other autocannons in-game.
The 9.0 one doesn’t have stab, do you find any issues with it? I might be using it quite a little bit for the premium type 90 until I get to the tech tree type 90 or first TKX, though if xm800t can contribute team at 12.7 so I expect the rcv to do the same.
In a br where the 35mm oerlikon dominates and makes everything autocannons feels like they are crap, the single 25mm from shilkas is actually more potent than the 20mm rh202 lol
It’s a issue, but I personally never had problems with it, the cannon has good vertical °/s values, you can counter the lack of stabilization with it alone. Being wheeled the movement should be somewhat smooth which should help in-move shoot, obviously not as accurate as stationary but not completely useless.
At the end of the day how you should play both Type 87 RCV (P) and Type 87 RCV ends up being the same—as scouting vehicle primarly, you have the mobility to do so, however on the Type 87 RCV you can be more active, in a battle rating range with less armored vehicles, stock APDS belts and researchable APDS-FS, makes it a good vehicle overall.
