I think there is a discrepancy in the position of an aircraft between my perspective and that of other people.
For example, when I am 0.03 m diagonally behind me, from someone else’s perspective the aircraft appears to be to the side, not diagonally behind me.
I think this is a huge disadvantage in aerial combat.
If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, try standing about 0.03 m diagonally behind someone else. It will probably appear to them that you are directly to the side.
This is from my pov not about physics, more about out-of-body-experiences or remote viewing. As long as the CIA experiments with regards to these topics are still just partially declassified you might consider that some things are beyond physics…😉
There has always been some “alignment issues” with the game, as far as I can tell anyway.
What you see, what the other player is seeing and what the game sees . . . not always the same thing exactly. This is why players holler about “he shot me thru a ROCK!” playing tanks . . . player assumed he was behind cover, yet the guy that shot him saw enough to plunk him … . alignment issue.
Same sorta thing happens in planes to a degree . . . ever had a guy flying by you, never has his guns on you or even pointed where you are heading and suddenly he has plunked you?? . . alignment issues again.
But all things considered, the fact we can play a live action game with people from all around the globe, and have the level of accuracy we do . . . pretty amazing . . to me anyway.
The game is good, but not “flawless”, so many variables to consider.
Every one of us are in a different location, have different systems/rigs, even platforms and ISPs
And allowing all of us to use whatever server group we want . . . yeah. lag/latency differentials
Desync and other factors . . . it’s still really good overall.
Thing most players seem to make the mistake is thinking that what they see on their monitor is “literally” what is happening. When in reality, it is just the info that the game server is sending to you concerning YOUR account. That is why watching the Server Replay will always give you more accurate and better detailed info, as it has ALL the players info represented there.
Too bad we can’t all just see that while we play . . . . would change everything . . lol
But it is what is it is . … try to keep expectations low, watch carefully and try not to assume things.
In the end, what happens is what the game server and it’s calculations said happened . …
and that is not always going to be exactly what you see . . .
like, of course, yes, the camera is positioned ~ 30m behind the plane in 3rd person view, and the displayed distance of other units change accordingly with 1st and 3rd.
Good question on whether turning the 3rd person camera affects displayed distance but you can’t look behind your camera so anyways. Maybe an experiment on difference between 1st/3rd view when looking back can help.
