They have lowered the Sherman's penetration without giving any warning

Thank you very much!! I just remembered that for a week the Sherman had 102mm of penetration, but it went down to 90 grams of explosive. They didn’t warn me about it either, but everything went back to normal. I really don’t understand why gaijin makes these changes out of nowhere or if they are just mistakes.

The Sherman almost always kills with one shot when it penetrates xD

The filler for both the 75 and 76 mm guns was bug reported to their current levels.

The problem is that as far as I can see, the source that was used for the 68 and 77 grams is literally the only source that says those weights. Every other source I have ever seen says 65 grams for both.

So basically someone else made another bug report being like “this is one source vs many and I’m on the side of many” and Gaijin has sided with the “many” as well.

I simply adore gaijin. I have to keep in mind that, at the end of the day, War Thunder is still just a game and obviously it will never be like real life. I still love the game. It’s just a game that has “similarities” to reality

Missing “1” mm of pen

because on datamine they change the penetration formula of all rounds
so there is a +/- 1, slightly more or none, mm differences

This is nothing when compared to the 14 classified leaked documents that were leaked over stupid reasons.

If you’re referring to my recent post, then no, I was talking about long-rod APFSDS in that.

They will do so only in the final major update changelog, if the changes stick. In the mean time, you will have to rely on me and my datamines for such changes:

I actually said it, it may sound silly!! Although in the case of the 76mm caliber, those 2mm less did make a change, those 2mm are what allow the 76mm gun to penetrate the Tiger II H’s optics

Gaijin goes around messing with random crap like this instead of making Ground RB actually playable and limiting CAS and AA. Jeeeesus H Christ!

am I reading that right or did they just completely nerf the 75mm. Why? The Sherman is fun but its already tough as is compared to playing T-34’s. Yeah I’m aware the Russian 76mm’s have far less pen out of a bigger round, but they don’t struggle. They bounce Sherman shots all the time but the Sherman wont bounce theirs and TBH its crap. They should be able to knock each other out.

You’re reading wrong.

Well in that changelog it says the explosive mass went from 68g to 65g, explosive pen went from 3.3 to 3.24 but the KE pen went from 103.61 to 103.96. Maybe you can educate me, I’m not being snarky, I genuinely don’t understand. I know these numbers are marginal, but the 75mm felt perfect to me before, in city maps I could happily bully Tiger 2’s with the 75mm Jumbo if I get their cannon barrel and roll up on their side and shoot the ammo, now I’ve just been getting bounces.

It’s shermover
We’re sherdone

As you just pointed out, the numbers are marginal. Nothing really changes, so it hardly “completely nerfs the 75 mm”.

But perhaps the most important thing is that 65 grams of explosive is what the 75 and 76 mm guns have had for years.

Only with update 2.45 did they increase the filler from 65 grams on both M61 and M62 to 68 and 77 grams respectively, due to a single bug report which included a single source. And now they are reverting that change back to the usual 65 grams because significantly more sources state 65 grams on both rounds.

In other words, they are reverting the rounds back to how they have been for years before they got changed due to a bug report which used a document of dubious quality.

Seems like they’re doing a lot of changes without reliable sources to back it up lately. It’s just like how the fox and scimitar turret drives got nerfed this year with only a single report that basically said they needed nerfed because didn’t feel right with almost no sources to back it up, and gaijin went through with it. There’s no consistency with the bug fixes with gaijin. They change things that they barely get any sources to validate it for some things, but at the same time on the opposite side of the spectrum they won’t change things despite multiple valid sources being provided. There’s no rhyme or reasoning to it half the time.

Explosive is less dense than the steel casing of the shell - so after some magic if you reduce the explosive content you add more than that weight of steel to the shell and so it penetrates a little more.

Which doesn’t seem right since the penetration has increased not decreased - so perhaps they also changed the armour value of the Tiger barrels??
