There is too much cheating happening in ground sim

Not 50 seconds into the game and this is what I see 185833080 doing…

These idiots should realise when you shoot down a moving helicopter with an incredible shot… I WILL check it after…

Which made me 95% sure he was aimbotting…

The next match I watched was cast iron proof. 6 kills in 5 minutes.

But I’m pretty sure he won’t be in the ban wave, my reports always seem to be ignored :(

it seems like we need another purge tbh.

Ive seen some weird shit these last days.

What about “legal” cheats? When you fly with VR you can stick your head out of the cocpit.

Before that, this guy 珠娜佩卡佩-萨琪特-哈特谢普苏特 ID 197333780 spawned an SPAA, inexplicably called out ‘heli’ while he was still in spawn for some reason, drove for 40 seconds and shot me through the trees without even bothering with a radar lock.

40 second video

They’re SO lazy and stupid they can’t even wait another 20 seconds to lock players and kill them. A radar lock happens all the time, I would have just shrugged and respawned. Instead I wonder how the hell I died in the trees and watch the replay…

and yes, I then watched 2 more replays and see him tracking more helicopters behind huge rocks only to kill them 2 seconds after they become visible.

100% aimbotter… again, and ruining an already small game mode :(

The day before I wait a full 15 minutes to get into a game and we get totally rolled. Oh well, it happens. Next game it happens again, but I get 2 very suspicious deaths… same guy shoots me through a wall that’s covering me completely and then STOPS attacking someone else he just tracked and decides to reverse 5m from cover and shoot me again? Hmmmm.

You don’t need an aimbot if you have full awareness of where the enemy is and their distance.

and no, checking your six in VR isn’t ‘cheating’…

Try playing in VR and getting a kill in an archer… you can’t …

Cheating is a massive problem in war thunder, made worse with it being a ‘free’ game, and for a proper anti cheat to actually do something theyd most likely have to make is something like the anti cheat valorant has and coming from Gaijin i think most people would be very skeptical of it.

There are problem communities that i think the majority of war thunder players know who they are that are the main culprites of cheating, but Gaijin seem reluctant to actually address it and do something since those communities are also the big botting communities so they would lose out on money from them grinding accounts.

The change to battle eye was weird with at least my experience with it is that its basically useless when you look at the games that use battle eye and the rampant reports of cheats in those games.

Cheaters can be detected simply by looking at statistics, they will just perform better than the average player in several key areas.

First strike awards
Sniper awards
Higher than average kills/Death
High kills on Planes/Helis without spaa
Long range helicopter kills without using spaa
Low use of binoculars
Low use of Artillery
No drone use
Low map pings
Low calls for backup
higher than normal kills on players who recently deployed smoke

and for ground sim in particular :

ZERO team kills.

Find players who score significantly higher than the average player in these areas and watch recent matches where they get the most kills… in a large sim game any player who gets over 10 kills is almost always an aimbotter.

There are exceptions…

The idea that we have to manually point out cheaters in WT by going to the replay website and giving them the time and what they did is quite bizarre… nearly as bizarre as finding out reporting players in GAME does nothing…

If you’re a ground sim player checking out this thread and you suspect someone of cheating, I’ve had most success getting bans by finding instances of them tracking or accurately shooting through smoke. You might have to check a couple of their server replays for a good report. Make sure it’s an IR blocking smoke and not ESS or something in high tier lineup games.

I made a suggestion a while back about disabling the rangefinder callouts for ground sim. It’s pretty obvious to see when someone is using it, but players who aren’t as familiar with the feature might report it as cheating.

I don’t really play the high tier lineups, but honestly I’d say the low tier lineup games are pretty clean of cheaters. Or at least there aren’t many players consistently cheating in NA and EU lobbies. It’s pretty easy to tell when it’s not ULQ or something.

Good idea to check these occasionally if they aren’t already. Ground sim is probably the easiest mode for catching cheaters. If gaijin wants to address cheating they just need to make some changes to lure more players into ground sim 😈
