But they are compared to a Gen 4.5 airframes.
F-15 is exactly the same. Flanker is a 70s design, its like expecting an F-14 to match a Rafale. Russia and the USA to a lesser extent opted to modernise 70s designs. Excluding the F-22! And while Su-27/35 is a great airframe it is not to the kinematic performance of a Typhoon, F-22 or Rafale.
Map sizes also hurt Flankers even the 35 as it will not accelerate as fast as a Typhoon or a Rafale.
Putting it in a similar position now.
They need to fix the typhoons radar ASAP. It’s busted, completely. Even with it’s placeholder radar the Gripens radar is probably the stronger of the 2 currently.
FM though shouldn’t left to fester just because the community perceive it to be the best airframe at the moment (it’s not)
the gripens design will never be as vaiable in wt than the typhoon or even the f-15c
it has just to weak of an engine (so no accelaration and low top speed) and not enough combat endurance (low missile count)
I agree with that, the F15 suffers from the same thing, I have it and what helps is its engine power in Dogfights, but let’s agree, in War Thunder, the Flanker’s FM looks like a brick with missiles. But The Su30SM2 and Su35 would solve many of the problems due to the new engines, the Su35 AL-41F1S engines have a power equivalent to the F15 Strike Eagle
I’m grinding for EuroFighter right now, and I agree that the radar bug needs to be fixed, but apart from the radar the aircraft performs very well in both BVR and dogfight, let’s be honest I have a huge experience with the Flanker more than 1k battles in the Soviet Su27, 800 in the SM and 400 if I’m not mistaken in the Su30, and since the beginning of when they arrived in the game I felt the difference between when they came and now, let’s be honest with ourselves, they have a very bad FM and are literally a brick with missiles, you can look at my account and you will see what I am saying
Perhaps, though as was the tornado Vs the Mig29 and it took 18 months for a partial FM fix to the be given for the tornado.
Not saying the Su-27/Su30 shouldn’t get work done, but I don’t think either would ever beat a Typhoon in a dogfight.
The FM in the Typhoon does need a few adjustments, but I’m mostly interested in it’s other kit getting finished. It’s HMD and MFDs are missing many features for example.
But there has been an attitude of late of “typhoon is good therefore it shouldn’t get any bug fixes” and that just drives me nuts
i managed to lose a gunfight in the rafale against the su30 lol, and the guy was really bad, so they can surprise you with that fantasy cobra button shit haha
And even in BVR they are no slouch either. I’ve had fights against them in the typhoon (in SB) where every single AMRAAM was shot down long before they got close
Yeah you’re never safe around a su30sm. If things get close and personal they can always do thrust vectoring shenanigans and hope for the r-77 or r73 to not fumble.
That 70’s flanker looks completely different to all other flankers, only the t-10 (S) was the basis of all future flankers. The T-10 original of the 70s was a failed project that doesn’t even resemble the production flanker. Calling it a 70s design is nonsense, because the flanker that was designed in the 70s is completely different from the production flanker.
Quite frankly, I doubt we’ll ever see anything major that is a positive change for the EFT at this point. Not anytime soon at least.
Gaijin is treating the EFT like I would expect the Rafale to be treated considering its massive overperformance stat-wise since its addition to the game.
My current 2 theories behind why the Rafale is getting this constant preferential treatment are;
Gaijin dev(s) really REALLY likes the Rafale
The Rafale being so broken has massively boosted the sales of the Mirage F1C premium, and gaijin is abusing the “new” market they’ve found at the expense of the game.
