I just wanted to say, the Tu-4 seems to be unplayable sometimes. The Tu-4 sits at 8.0 where it gets put into the matchmaker of seeing jets, now this is fine most times, but sometimes you can see Me-163s on the enemy team and they have the power to climb up to altitude fast because they have rocket engines with lots of thrust. The other issue with the Tu-4 is when you go against planes with air-to-air missiles, you come across this quiet often, now it’s quite rare but you can turn of your engines so the missile will lose its tracking, but that most of the time doesn’t work, you also can’t dodge the missiles because you’re a strategic bomber. There is also a plane called the S.O.4050 Vautour IIN (late), this plane sits at 8.3 in air realistic battles often put into games with the Tu-4. Now what’s the issue with this you may ask, well this plane gets a radar with a range of 45km, it can lock on to the enemy plane, of any sort, but what can you use this radar set for you may ask. Well this plane gets 4x Metra R511 air-to-air missiles these are semi active radar homing missiles, at 8.3, these missiles work great at 8.3 and are perfect for planes like the Tu-4 or just unaware players. Now I don’t think that the S.O.4050 Vautour IIN (late) should go up in BR, if anything I think it should go down to 8.0, but I just wish that the Tu-4 was in a better place than what it is now. The issue with the Me-163 is, it has a very powerful rocket engine, climbs up to altitude and has 2x 20mm cannons or 2x 30mm cannons that are perfect for killing bombers like the Tu-4, the Me-163 with 2x 30mm canons sits at 8.0 the same BR as you and the Me-163 with 2x 20mm cannons sits at 8.7 a BR that you go up against. There are a lot of people who would say “well gaijin should just move the Tu-4’s BR down a bit”, bit the issue with this argument is that the gunners are to good so if you move it down to the prop tier’s like 6.3 or 6.7 if you get a person who knows how to use gunners on bombers you will just destroy those enemy planes easily, you could maybe move it down to 7.7 at most, but then you would still face planes like the S.O.4050 Vautour IIN (late), and the Me-163. Now what is my opinion on how to fix the plane, I don’t think there is a way to fix the Tu-4 with the state of air RB as of 1/1/2024, but this may change in the future, and I’m sure it will because Gaijin is always improving the game and if anything is an issue, I’m sure Gaijin will fix it if they can fix it. Now don’t get me wrong, I think the Tu-4 is a great plane, you just need to get the opportunity to do great in it and against any other plane other than the Me-163 and S.O.4050 Vautour IIN (late) this plane is balanced. Also, just to clarify if I got some information about the core statistics and game play of the Me-163 or S.O.4050 Vautour IIN (late) please don’t blame me for it, I’ve never used those planes, I just want to say that their planes that I’m defenceless against when playing the Tu-4. But if I did get some information wrong about those planes, please feel free to politely correct me in the replies of this forum post.
