The truth about "unskilled players"

Goes for ground too. Given the groundhog day nature of WT it is very easy to play 500 battles making the same mistake 500 times. Happened to me as well when I was learning the ropes.

Analysis is simply invaluable.

This is very much true.
There’s a big misconception that time played (experience) = you’re good.
Which is absolutely not the case at all like you said.

Leaderboard stats track AI and player kills seperately.

One of the top players on the leaderboard kills 20 AI planes every game . So it counts all the same

It just shows an overall percemtage that cant be looked at any more detail

Why GJ hides players real stats only they know.

Can’t balance willy-nilly like Gaijin does when players have the ability to see that the statistics you use are BS.

  1. It’s not just AI planes, it’s all AI targets. eg howitzers, spaa, pillboxes, AND ai planes.
  2. AI kills get counted into individual vehicle stats, and it counts towards gaijin’s default rating of “battle efficiency” on the leaderboard. IIRC it’s default setting tracks how much SL a player earns per game, hence why you can make it to the top of the leaderboard with a be the best/antimech order and a strikemaster/wyvern/f15e.

Player KPS and AI KPS are very clearly shown as actual numbers in the attached screenshot, and gaijin presumably has tools that can aggregate all those statistics together for BR changes, even if the decisions themselves are questionable(su30mkk/mk2 at 13.3, f15a/j at 12.7, bmpt, etc).

It just shows overall
Which cant be used to see what a single jets actual KD is.

EG . All the AI a player has killed could be from just 1 in 1000 air vics he uses

I suggest looking at the screenshots that autocorrect sent you and reading (and actually comprehending) what it is that he told you before moving any further

A player can farm AI hard in one jet, make it their most-played/high-kill plane, and only take pure player fights in everything else

The account-wide AI number still shows up, but it doesn’t attribute the AI kills to the right vehicles. Vehicle stats include AI, so high kill counts on individual planes are ambiguous

Its very simple but what part am i not comprehending?

Maybe somebody has already addressed this, but what qualifies as a good player and a bad player can also be very subjective. Some players have very high kill ratios but make little effort to secure capture points, while other players seek to win as a team and make a strong effort to seize capture points. Some players spend most of a match sniping from behind their favorite rock, hillside, etc., and some players are brawlers, and some are incredibly good brawlers (myself excluded 😁). Some players use nothing but strong Russian tanks, and some players use a vast array of different vehicles, from different nations, because it adds to the challenge and variety of the game – and yes, they will often get crushed by tanks – but does it make them bad players ? We’re all doing the game in our own way, with our own expectations, good or bad.

You hurt me with your most honest words. Yes, that’s the truth—I have no skill, and that alone has already made me resent this game, resent the fact that my next performance might not be as good as the last. The root of all this is simply that I lack skill.
How I wish I could have fun playing this game…

See, funny thing about forums that ive noticed over time is that users here are actually eager to help people who ask for it, and i think most comments made on such posts are in sense of “dont really worry about being bad, focus on improving, heres how”.

hell, theres lot of guides made on forums, trying to give advice on how to do one thing or another (I myself made sort of guide on premium Hornets).

So i geniunely dont believe players have issue with other players being bad. At the end of the day, its a game, no one can expect working father to be at same level of skill as no life sweat that plays the game 23 hours a day and does not need to leave his room to go to the toilet.

The issue why skill is brought up so often in debate is when person that doesnt understand what he is saying goes on about arguing with much better players over the most basic stuff.

“notching doesnt work”
“premium Su-30s are too weak for 13.7”
“18C early needs AMRAAMs thread no. 12 396 and put at 13.3”
“Abrams too weak gib M829A4”

Just few days ago Ive talked with person over 18C early, he called it waste of money and terrible premium. Couldnt break KD of 1.

So I asked him if he keeps speed and alt. Not even offering advice yet.

His reaction?

Saying that flying above 8km is suicidal, im disinforming people, im tone deaf and randomly weird.

Completly ignoring that ever since Sky Odyssey release, im sitting at 3.0 KD/1.8 KpS over 77 games with it (and alltime KD of 2.4 over 524 games).

in the end he called all people in the thread clowns and left.

Thats the sort of people I think most forum users make fun of by mentioning their stats, not players that geniunely want to improve and come in looking for help.

Twofold issue of there being far more Gamer Gods that come seeking validation that they just died to Russian Bias/the other guy’s luck/bullshit rather than the convoluted form of suicide you just saw them perform, and that they can be at first indistinguishable from one another.

And as far as ground goes, there is no actual high-quality ressources you can point toward for improvement. Sun Tzu only gets you so far.

The only time skill generally gets brought up is when someone’s being a clown and refuses to back down from their hill of incompetence.

Nobody cares if you suck or not, they DO care when you spread misinformation while also sucking at the game.
This kind of thing (bad player misinformation) is a cancer that has resulted in the game’s health being drained significantly, especially at higher tiers with OP premiums not being changed as well as the average air rb player just, not knowing what to do

If players were actually somewhat more informed the game would be in a much healthier state as it means that vehicles that should be moved higher/lower (IRIAF/Su-30) have higher chances of actually doing so

Wow cool, not like you can filter them

Why is this still up for debate? Objectively speaking, War Thunder has a problem with the quality of players. Independent of how long they’ve been playing, very few actually know how to play, 95% think the game is all based on RNG, 97% don’t know what positioning is, only 2% know how to listen and take things seriously, and 90% just cry instead of learning how to play. All of this is well known.

because wt players = stupid and you need to explain the same thing 3 times in 3 different ways for them to maybe understand something

and we all like talking about the same topics over and over again.
just look at the amount of times the flankers get brought up etcetc

And yet, I reckon that 60% of players still don’t know how to do a notch and use missiles

Because players don’t learn how to play, it’s easier to claim there’s a ‘Russian bias’ and that the KH-38 is ‘broken’ rather than learning how to do CAS and realising that the Spice and GBU-53 are the problem

BTW
