War Thunder’s maps are too small for high tier. Gaijin must immediately restrict maps >350M from the high tier map pool.
Recently I stopped playing because the game is reduced to something like a duel - you get in front of an opponent, point, and shoot. One who has a higher BR wins.
Yes, when I drive the MBT into those stupid little maps, I would rather quit the fight and wait for 8 minutes than stay in it
Funny they keep making maps smaller at top tier when they removed some a year or so ago for being too small. Small 1 or 2 cap maps are no fun.
I miss getting large Maginot in my Shermans, Panzer IVs and T-34s. I could actually use the superior range of the 76mm M7/M1, KwK40 L/43-48, and ZiS-2/4/4M cannons. Nevermind of course higher BRs where everyone gets increasingly long engagement ranges.
That being said, maps which are massive and completely flat are also rather special.
My ideal map would be large Maginot - there is a city if you want it, but two of three caps are intentionally placed outside the city for those who aren’t terribly good in there. And personally, I don’t think even Russian tanks benefit THAT much on city maps. In the low-midtiers of 3.3-4.7 it feels more like Shermans benefit most from city maps due to stabilizers and fast reloads.
I don’t know how it is possible that gaijin destroys his own game by making the maps smaller, now the game is a real boring piece of garbage, you only go forward until you kill or die, it doesn’t matter anything, it doesn’t matter if you kill, if you die, if you win or you lose, a real shit game.
Gaijin, you still have time, add to the 2024 roadmap the change of the maps to larger versions, with a grid size of 400x400.
I don’t understand how they cannot see that big maps increase playability. A big map can contain more game versions within the same map.
Prime examples are Squad or Arma maps. Those maps are rather huge; one version could be around one area while another version could be around some other area of the map.
Because snails are slow and struggle to find cover due to the weight of there cruncy shell and only come out when its damp and cloudy
I have no idea what are they doing… In past the gameplay was fun, slower and engaging, you had opportunities to maneuver, flank but nowadays it is just a boring arena - cod like shooter. Today I wanted to play my Japan Type 16 which needs flanking at top tier to be successful… I played carpathians and wanted to flank the enemy but the map is so restricted that you just can not flank anymore, I ended up in open field when following the map border, right infront of camping leo2s, which exactly knew I was coming because there is just no more different ways to move on the map.
The maps are going backwards… We had nearly perfect maps with bad game modes, now we have bad game modes on bad maps…
Making SACLOS spaa not begin tracking for ~500 meters while having the average map size be <2000 meters is fantastic. It really punishes ground players for using SPAA which is the absolute worst way to counter CAS. Hopefully more maps will become like this so people will stop wasting their spawn points on SPAA and grind their air trees so they can spawn camp CAS players.
Feels like this was to help wallet warriors. Reduced map complexity helps people who spend 80$ on a tank they have no idea how to use since while they have good frontal armor, no top tier has good side armor. It also helps helicopters, smaller maps means that everyone is even more clustered at the start and spaa can’t really hide anywhere.
I don’t see any other reason than to aide the win rate of wallet warriors her, dumbing down the gameplay even more. Also like people said if you have stock heat like the 12.0 Leclerc you are basically useless and can’t even rely on sideshots, which then incentivizes paying for the dart even more.
Maps are already too small as is but this shit is ridiculous. Do this at 1.0 to help new players learn the map, don’t give me a 10 year old ww2 map with 60% of the map arbitrarily cut off to play at 12.0. It’s such blatant frustration by design, they don’t even hide it anymore.
