You need max 2 battles for it to check it. They flew thousands!
Again, im not suggesting the reduction of points for actions from how things are currently.
But as i said at the start of the post, this discussion is mainly about ARB at prop tiers.
Because for example strike aircraft are generally far less capable of being competent dogfighters at prop tiers.
Or would you say that an IL-10 is as potent of a dogfighter as the I-225 or La-7B-20? All sit at 5.0, yet the IL-10 is far worse at dogfighting. Most fighter aircraft at 5.0 and below are far superior at taking down enemy aircraft.
They are quite usable in GRB in exchange.
Please, this has nothing to do with the post. This post is about ARB. If a plane is usable in GRB it doesn’t mean it should be useless in ARB.
As some people don’t play GRB at all.
Well, it has its role and its perfect for GRB.
As strike aircraft are perfect for nuclear escalation more at top tier than for… other modes where there is not enough room and objectives for them.
Exactly why i suggested giving them a more prominent role in ARB.
Which has nothing to do with teamwork initiative. Its just “more reward for doing X, if you sit in an Y class”
Okay, how do you make it more intuitive for players that strike aircraft has more reward for doing ground attack rather than for bombing bases?
To “revive” strike aircraft then I would rather make another “strike aircraft cover” mechanic where strike aircraft could team up and fly together to get more reward from doing ground attack. The same bomber cover mechanic, but repurposed for strike aircraft.
Or rather make targets for strike aircraft on bomber targets. So like, make bases modular and put them around the map. Make every pillbox point a “small base”.
And to destroy a base you have to destroy its modules. For big bases its big buildings that are easilly destroyable by big bombs, and for small frontline bases its separate units or just regular “base HP” as it is right now, that can be damaged by napalm to the base or by cannon to the units themselves.
This point (marked bold) looks reasonable on the surface - but if you look closer this is already the case - logical as the mode developed into a TDM mode. The main users of stuff outside meta fighters are either a small fraction of bored long-term players looking for a challenge - or Ground RB players spading / researching aircraft suited to bully players in tanks.
The bomber buff changed this to a certain degree - when u flew in a 3.7 P-47 in a full uptier vs the USSR your main concern were Yak-3s flown by competent pilots. Now you have to focus on rookies in TIS MAs and kill them with bombs in order to have a small chance to win.
If the majority of players just think about 3 things when they play wt (Me, myself and I) it is quite hard to convince them to think about other stuff like teamwork. That’s why i mentioned that from a holistic pov you have to create a massive incentive to change their behaviour.
Don’t get me wrong, i like the underlying goal - but as written by others the players are part of the problem to a much larger extent than assumed and teamplay occurs when you meet players without any grinding pressure but with enough experience. But these are very rare…
Exactly - there is a reason why shampoo bottles have direction arrows on them.

there is a reason why shampoo bottles have direction arrows on them
There is a reason why games should tell players their rules one way or another. Its not intuitive at all if developer made this this way or another. Or did nothing and there is no actual gameplay incentive, as we see in warthunder, where every mode is a sketch of a gamemode rather than an actual complete product.
Its not intuitive at all if developer made this this way or another
I mean, look at nuclear thunder, its not intuitive at all what NEBO radars do and what will happen if I destroy them. Its not intuitive by what rules convoys spawn, what if I destroy specific warehouses where it says “fuel”, “ammo” or “vehicles”, what if I destroy the ammo warehouse, will it make spaa on that warehouse lose their ammo?
Not intuitive how anything works at all, because devs could either hardcode a boring timer and random spawn for convoys, or actually make a logic behind them that players could interact with. Who knows what they did?

Sadly it is true that the players only think about the things you mentioned. That reason is why the bombers got a blanket buff to their durability, instead of looking at the underlying reason why their survivability was so low → flying in alone without support and faced against enemy fighters while teammates were far behind them, completely unable to protect them.

Grinding pressure is a major issue. As some if not most of the newer players see reaching top tiers as the ultimate goal. If it’s because of the illusion that reaching top tier is some kind of a status symbol in WT, is a whole another topic.
There is no incentive to play and enjoy other planes and tiers that aren’t the most effective way of grinding towards top tier.
I guess one of the reasons for making this suggestion is to encourage playing the game at even low-mid tiers and enjoying the game at said tiers, to see the game shouldn’t be only about grinding towards top tier. Obviously there will always be a portion of the playerbase that will have that as their main reason.
Grinding pressure could be argued to be of the main contributing reasons for people getting frustrated for any number of things you see being complained about.
Edit: My personal goal in all of 11 years of playing WT, was never to grind and reach top tier as fast as possible. Instead i’ve always played vehicles and tiers i like, and most importantly played the game for fun. I guess i was disillusioned to think there would be a lot more people who see it that way. But i’ve learned that i’m part of a very small fraction of the playerbase.
oh my lord, i am so sorry that i also reply to others in this thread, a shame myself to have spoken to someone else then you and discussed stuff with other humas. tf.
Can´t you accept a simple, i dont like your suggestion? I even gave you reasons, and when u didnt had smt to counter u started to do a personal fight? yeez.
You still can´t explain why your suggestion shouldnt be a new game mode where u can adjust everything around objectives and also include bombers as meta gameplay.
Your whole suggestion is based on this. As every ohter class has already a good to play gamemode.
Not every vehicle is made for fighting, thers even planes that doesnt even have guns or missles…and yet you suggest that the other teammates should get points for defending those in ARB? hell nah.
Edited
Lord have mercy, for i do not posses enough crayons or coloring books, but i will try my best without them;

See this is the problem; you cannot distinguish the difference between a suggestion and a discussion.
You treat this post like an official suggestion to developers, when in-fact it is a discussion about how we could improve ARB from it’s current state.
It is not a discussion about making a completely new gamemode. Which i have stated over and over again to you.
oh my lord, i am so sorry that i also reply to others in this thread, a shame myself to have spoken to someone else then you and discussed stuff with other humas. tf.
But all of the things i have quoted of you talking to other people, had nothing to do with the topic of this post.
Remember, just because you can say something, doesn’t mean you are required to do so.
this is a forum… in forum you get feedback from everyone, if u like it or not…
if u dont want to open a discussion where people tell you that they dont like your suggestion and that xyz would be better… then dont open a thread.
btw, still no explanation to my question, and dont say “duh, because thats not my suggestion”:
explain why your suggestion shouldnt be a new game mode where u can adjust everything around objectives and also include bombers as meta gameplay.

There a lot of players thinking similar - but yes, we are just a small fraction of the player base, that’s why every experienced player looks for his version of fun or a niche which allows him to play around the systemic weaknesses.
Technically seen forum exchanges are pointless /futile as even here a selfish mindset is dominant - besides a few exceptions it is way more likely that your cat gets a job before you encourage others to think about their real motivations playing wt.
Take care!

Sadly i’ve come to notice this yet again and was reminded why i took a break from these forums before. Selfish mindset and personal bias make it impossible for people to even try to look at things from someone else’s perspective, and to try and find a solution that would be beneficial for all parties involved. It does align with how the rest of society works, sadly.
Thanks for the input on the topic. Have a good one!
