No the war thunder community is becoming toxic and has been even in sim. And with the Russian players always just saying skill issue when the they know they have the biggest advantage in the game it makes the game 10x worse. They get to do as they please while gajin hates America and will always nerf nato I mean look at the update they did today to china and their missles. Why not fix the aamrams gajin? Because irl it destroys Russian tech and they don’t want to admit it. So good luck in any game mode that doesn’t have Russian players that j out when u shoot at them or just say skill issue when they get to fly in a straight line and spam missles. My recommendation is go to dcs where things are modeled correctly if your on pc or go to a lower br without missles

NATO players were doing the exact same thing for the longest time, remember the old 9m meta with the old su-27 fm

I’ve been a senior admin, and a forum mod, for a couple of international gaming community (focused mainly on FPS games, but not only) and trust me, no other game has a community as toxic as the one we have in WT. Toxicity is in every game, but in the last 12 years I saw things here you wouldn’t believe.

“Russian bias” is nothing more than a myth, there is only the almighty Meta and it’s not always the same. Personally I’ve always refused to play the meta, I find it boring, because I love the challenge

True with the old 9 m but I truly don’t believe that there should have ever been a meta in a mil sim game tbh especially not if your playing simulator battles. No matter the nation.

The biggest difference is that the skill and capability gap between moderately experienced players and very experienced players was a lot narrower. Currently the active group of very experienced top tier players put in the effort to de-facto perfect the kill chain but also more or less actively avoid playing against each other.

This tendency further compounds with more flavor of the day battle ratings. Do you really want to fly blue side in a F-16 PoBIT against red side super squad? Nobody does.

So games with experienced players are basically one sided stomps of whatever plane happens to be the flavor of the day. I’ve basically stopped playing the game mode and moved back to Air RB because of it.

So far, It has been Chinese mains who have been toxic towards me. I had only 1 encounter of toxic Russian mains

I am thinking of doing that but from what I have heard, DCS missiles are not good. I remember seeing a video where a guy was casually dodging SAM missile which should have killed him, but proxy fuse was not working. I might switch to Falcon BMS if i every buy a sim setup

Well the difference between dcs and war thunder sim missle wise is they try and model them as close to real life as possible and Sam sights it really depends on the mod he was playing against and if it was a good mod. For the most part dcs is the most realistic and well modeled weapon wise. Even the military uses dcs. And for china mains haven’t really encountered many of them but yea anything non nato tends to be stronger but Russia seems to be the strongest. Also china mains do j out more because honestly their just temu versions of Russian and American planes but with tht new update their missles are really good close range.

Agreed and I keep trying to fly the pobit in sim and air rb but it’s all just pain to be honest. I just want to spade my pobit without GE and get my super hornet.

I think it’d be good to revert back to when EC started.
IIRC, there wasn’t UA and a timer, but you needed to land before receiving full score for what you did in a sortie, regardless of time passed. GJ did that in response to suicidal bombers farming spam and that worked pretty fine. For some reason they introduced timer later.
So, we don’t really need that timer to aimlessly sit on the AFB waiting for the timer to expire, but revert to scoring back to per sortie (sortie being defined as engine on → engine off).
Also, when J-ing out on tarmac to switch weapons load eg., the timer resets and you don’t get full score so you need to wait, which significantly slows down the game.

While here, AFB IADS is also quite overbearing.
There are numerous ways to preclude AFB ganking without making AFB IADS this effective.

Without landing you only got HALF of the reward, something I highly disliked, especially when flying the less popular side. In the attempt to fix sucidal bombers they ended punishing fighter pilots too. Being constantly outnumbered reduces the chances of a safe return to base by a lot. At high tiers it’s even worse.

Yeah I noticed that too and it kinda sucks. J-out just resets your timer.
Gaijin has a very unique talent when it comes to make things more complicated and nerfing rewards.

In my opinion, the RP earnings in SIM are pretty decent. It’s SL where it can be tough.
In my opinion:

  • Pay respawn (repair) costs only instead of spawn costs. Why do we need to pay SL for the first spawn? Why can’t we just pay repair costs if we die, and/or repair in the hangar, and/or use backups. That would already solve a lot of issues (game ending early, already being in the negative without doing anything, etc).
  • Remove the 15min timer system. Just go back to doubling earnings on landing. I’d be fine with that. Landing and being alive after a mission should give a huge reward. I’d be fine with even more than doubling the rewards (tipple? quadruple?). Staying alive and landing should give a HUGE reward. It’s SIM after all. Solves J-ing out. Solves suicide bombing. Solves idling on the runway.

It’s also a much simpler system to understand than this stupid 15 minute timer system

Not even close to RB. Spending the same amount of time you earn more in RB than SB which is a bit ridiculous.

It has been asked to use free repairs too in EC, but gaijin never ever replied to that. It woudl make more sense to stock grind a top tier jet in EC if you can use your legit free repairs.

They changed things to fix suicidal bombers and j-out, but players keep doing that regardless. We used to have proximity kill credited for j-out (same as arcade and realistic), but the wise snail decided to remove that because… well only god knows why.

Yeah, I mean, I get UA mechanic. I just argue it should be set per sortie, instead of timer limited. Ie, if I landed, reset the timer immediately and give full reward, not make me wait for the time to expire, for which half the time I have no idea whether it expired, which should have some kinda stopwatch in UI for player to have some kinda control of the gameplay.

Ppl kept grinding, abusing that mechanic. Eg. guy lands with one account in the corner of the map. Then logs with another and flies to that point and ejects, racking up the kills and score with parked plane. We had patrols on both teams searching and (team)killing those guys.

What can I say? Because of this kind of players even we, the fair ones, have to pay. A bit unfair.
