The standards to revise M1A2 SEPv3's armor NEED to be revised and calibrated

In that sense yes.
Asking for SepV3 to get better hull armour without providing sources for the actual improvement (what part and by how much e.g.) is asking for preferential treamtment over others and nothing else.

Wrong again buddy, they added relict with no data, added puma armour with no data and the list goes on

Holy strawman

Would you like to open CBRS and search for “puma”?
Take a look at a bunch of the armour related reports.

Just because its modern doesnt make it impossible to get data on.

Source 1: “SEPv3 has upgraded hull armor.”

Source 2: “there’s a hull armor package that increased KE by 35%. We plan to implement it.”

Source 3: “there’s a more advanced hull armor package that raised the KE protection to 650mm. We plan to implement it.”

Source 4: “we implemented a planned hull armor package”.

Source 5: “the tank is 5 tons heavier. Here’s a prototype with an enormous chunk of steel slapped on the lower glacis to simulate the weight increase of the upcoming new armor package.”

Putting 2+2 together is making a perfectly valid guesstimation without the need for an official source to give an exact number.

if its legally classified then it is? how dense are you lmao

Honestly its not even that hard to find info on the armor on the Puma tbf

I mean in that case Gaijin should also stop adding more modern stuff, since it’s also a double standard that they are allowed to make up fantasy values while they hold other people to higher standards.

The Current SEPv3 might as well be fantasy since their logic just goes against any calculations and logic. 3.8 tons weight increase for 2 150mm armor plates is wild.

They quite literally said, in essentially every report, that they acknowledge the armour having been improved but that they cannot make use of that without any additional figures regarding which part had been improved and by how much.

we’re not asking for preferential treatment, we want everyone to get this treatment like giving the j15T a better radar, the merkavas/namer armour that matches their weight differences etc

this will keep happening unless something changes

but the fact is they do it all the time, the vast majority of mbts are heavily classified in terms of protection

  1. They pulled number out of magic hat for the turret armor addon.

  2. I will repeat it since you ignored it. There’s this nice thing called weight increase and material density that they can use, little fella. They know exactly by how much the tank weight increased. They have absolutely all they need to get an armor ballpark number for the hull after they substract the additional weight coming from the turret addon.

Your own source literally says it wasnt implemented.

It wasn’t implemented in the 1990s, in the base M1A2, no. SEPv3 came over 20 years later.

Just like the Swedish trials package wasn’t implemented on the German 2A5s, but were still used to model 2A7v’s armor.

Following whatever your logic is supposed to be, 2A7V should have the same armor as 2A5.

Why are you doing this? What’s your goal?

If you are not happy about it, then make a cope post

It remained to be done as weight savings were made avalaible

NSIAD-90-57 Abrams Tank: Block II Modifications Not Ready to Enter Production

the Army plans to initially add only portions of the armor packages. Consequently, the program’s survivability objectives may not be achievable. The Army plans to add the remaining portions of the Block II survivability enhancements only as corresponding weight reductions are achieved.

And guess what.

Weight saving suspiciously materialized

didnt they also save two tonnes on cabling by switching to fibre optic or smthn

Look at table 2.1 on page 38

The Army plans to add portions of planned Block II armor on a trade-off basis as planned weight savings are achieved. However, most of the Army’s planned weight reductions are scheduled for development and are not expected to be realized until after the start of MlA2 production.

They increased the CV90120-T’s weight by 7t and gave it nothing in return.
The sole upgrade to previous 28t configuration was the engine (a whopping +50kW)

Also seemingly people fail to understand that estimations gaijin makes for implementation are not subject to reporting without providing sources proving that said estimations are wrong and what the true value should be instead.

I have read the sources used in a bunch of the reports made and none of them have made me believe that any of gaijin-staff responses were unreasonable or unjustified in any way shape or form.

They said explicitly what was missing and why the reports couldnt be forwarded.

I think that what we are doing right now, i.e. coping about gaijin not giving preferentrial treatment, gets us absolutely nowhere.

Our efforts should, in any case, be focused on finding and then providing sources that actually suffice to get a report forwarded as suggestion.

do you not understand that there are no sources for the protection?
