The staggering and at the same time amazing incompetence of this games gameplay development

So with a new update looming around, no clue what will be in it, im once again reminded that in typical fashion, instead of fixing things to a functional state, we have to push more stuff in at the cost of gameplay.

Its barely 2 months since Leviathan update came out, an update that despite longer dev server was released with massive bugs that broke the game and incorrect or missing features on the new SPAAs. Even now, the new SPAAs with DL can be spoofed by the target firing a missile, a rocket or a bomb. The radars are incorrect, the performance of some missiles is incorrect, basically a huge mess.
And its barely anything new, every single update breaks something or is complete undercooked nightmare with the devs “fixing” things when they are already in live servers, many a thing so basic and fundamental that youd expect this to be done when the vehicle is still in development.

Additionally Gaijin seem to have a knack for adding things in that noone asked for without any semblance of understanding balance.

The basket for american Abrams and the Leopards across 4 nations is a perfect example of this.
Paraphrased, Smin has in his wonderfully crafted basket post said “the developers cant do it all at once, because modelling things is really hard and time consuming and they might have to change things” is a very cool thing to say with absolutely 0 substance or context for the gameplay.
The baskets have been added around in May, we have August. No other MBT families have gotten baskets added in months.
Ive said it then that Gaijin will just put this in and for half a year or more not care that they are shifting the balance by adding more crippling modules into a compact tanks, but clearly ive not read the post correctly

Im not going to be arguing about how other tanks have autoloader in the turret (doesnt stop you from turning the gun and shooting the loaded shot) or how tank X has less armor than tank Y, if you want to keep atleast a semblance of “fairness” in your game then maybe adding a module that all the other tanks do have but you arbitrarily decide to add for just 2 tank families isnt the best idea.

And now with new update looming around, i shudder to think what they will add, break or change again to break the game once more. Its like a circle, every new update leads to the same broken start.

Thats cool.

Not the major update or dev blogs, just the CM chat thingy btw

Maybe SPAA for the nations missed last major update like the SkySabre or SAMP/T

They already said that new SPAAs for the nations that didnt get any will come, which is a good thing, Britain and Italy are really in a poor spot when it comes to SPAA. But in typical Gaijin fashion, they will add something, break 5 other things, release new things in barely functional state and some reports despite being accepted will fall into the “ill do it at some point” folder of bug fixing priorities

I am starting to genuinely not look forward to new updates because i can already expect that the game will be in a really desolate state for unknown amount of time. New things are nice and they do keep people engaged with the game, but when it takes so long to fix quite gamebreaking bugs* (any SPAA with DL guidance can be spoofed by a missile, rocket or bomb being released from the target for example) i am finding it hard to be optimistic.
*or i just remembered, Leo 2PL spall liner has been accepted i think now almost 2 years ago or so

Also

didnt know, it made it sound like new update is coming soon, wouldnt even be that far off of the average autumn release time

yeah, this one is funny even three months later. its pretty much clear at this point that gaijin assumed Abrams/Leo2s were performing too well according to their “muh statistics” but raising their BR wasnt on the table because it would require the much needed decompression AND they likely wanted the 10.7 variants to remain at their respective BRs. So they nerfed them with turret baskets.

absolute masterstroke of ill will.

and, just like with dozers, this “feature” will be forgotten forever; no other MBT family in game will ever recieve fully modeled turret baskets.

For new things. I agree For old things. I look forward to them maybe finally fixing things.

Yeah, was just in reference to the CM thing he confirmed was coming last week.

Next major update will probably be mid September with devblogs and credible leaks starting last week of August I reckon.

I wish to share your optimism.

Maybe they will finally fix Challenger 2s and trophy! /s

arent there usually two “back to back” updates around september-october?

Not expecting them to fix a lot, but maybe 1 or 2 minor bugs might finally get fixed.

Yeah… never gunna happen.

Yes, the first will probably be I guess 9th-11th of September and the other probably 14th-16th of October. Give or take a week

This is just fearmongering to be honest… You don’t know what’s in the update you’re critquing, yet you’re already in a panic about it.

I’m more concerned that Mike is no longer around for the dev streams, and Oxy is stuck with a less desirable host with the charisma of a potato.

fearmongering would be if i said it without any context, out of the blue. You have to be willingly ignorant or just blind to how the last 3-4 updates were going to think that this is just “fearmongering”.
It might be cynical view, but its definitely not fearmongering.

Ignoring something like when typhoon came out and flew inside mountains, how sound keeps being broken every single update, how pzh2000 on release was barely finished and is still missing features, how missiles with last update were useless, kept (and to a degree some stil keep) changing guidance from a locked on plane to a missile for example, and so much more is just stupid.

Fearmongering? just literally look back to see how this game is post updates.

i feel like this update tried to add too many complex mechanics and complex systems that the game simply wasn’t prepared to. I don’t even want to touch top tier, not gonna lie, i just want them to fix the armor of the Crusader tanks.

In fairness. There are some pretty major issues from recent stuff (say, over the last 1-2 years) that still havent been even looked at yet. Heck. Typhoon only just got a half-decent radar, its only taken 8 months, and its still underperforming and a bit buggy.

Track record does show that new stuff is in a worse state than it should be and it feels like the quality of updates is degrading. They could almost do with skipping a major update to catch up and focus on releasing bug fixes over that 6 month gap instead

never forget the SEM in grb
or AMX
rest in peace fun cas planes in minor nations…

At this point you’re just dragging it. The Typhoon’s radar is fine now.

Its still missing critical features such a Priority Track and its current scan speed is set according to source that includes the delay induced by the P-Track.

So without P-Track we should have a higher scan rate than what we currently have.

The radar is also MPRF (iirc) only in game, when it should have all 3 modes

Its also still a bit glitchy at times, and sometimes straight up wont detect a target that its pointing straight. Now part of this is probably TWS+ just being buggy and broken, but that does affect the Typhoon just as much as it affects everything else. Given the Typhoons direct counter, the Rafale has one of the best radars in game with its E-Scan, it would be nice if the CAPTOR-M was at bare minimum at its full strength for an M-Scan.

You also ahve some not unrelated issues with the radar, like the fact the TPod(s) on the Typhoon dont cue to Radar locks like they do in other aircraft like the F-2. Which would actually be quite a major QoL buff for an aircraft that is forced to use SAL weapons.

Still, the way that you put it is as if the plane itself is a mess. It’s not.

When compared to the SU-30s and Rafale’s radar. Its still not that great and I can only guess the Gripen E will be here soon with AESA and that the US will get AESA on something sooner rather than later.

We could be left with the CAPTOR-M for a while against pure AESA radars and i’ve already gotten enough T-Shirts from aircraft that were just abandoned by the devs rather than actually finishing them.

So I think its accurate to say the CAPTOR-M is not finished, it is still buggy (though this is probably TWS+ more than anything else) and it still needs quite a bit of work to finish.

I disagree but I digress, this isn’t the topic for this.

This reminds me, just for comparison:

Genuinely annoying.
