The "SpamRAAM" meta, plus some other issues

From the title, I’m sure most of you already know what this is about. If you share the same frustration, let’s talk cause maybe someone finally sees the issues here.

Every single 13.0~14.0 match plays out exactly the same: everyone climbs as high as possible and dumps all their fox-3s toward the center of the map, praying to hit a kill or maybe two. Seconds later, either your team is entirely gone and your RWR is screaming in every direction, or the enemy team is, and you’re left flying around waiting for a miracle.

At this point, it’s less about flying skill or tactics and more about who can spam fox-3s faster and at the right angle. It feels like a slot machine — push the button, hope they don’t notch or flare it, and pray the missile does its job.

God help you if you’re flying stock or not flying a Rafale or an SU30SM.

Flying stock in this environment is masochistic. You have worse radar, fewer missiles, and less countermeasures — and it shows. You’ll be lucky to survive past the first minute of combat. And this isn’t just frustrating; it actively discourages progression. How are newer or returning players supposed to enjoy the game, or even learn, if they die before they can even get a lock?

The maps are too small. Even the “big” ones.

These maps were designed for older jets. Now we have mach 1.5 aircraft crossing them in under a minute. There’s no space to flank, no time to reposition, no real room for tactics. Everything is compressed into one frantic blob of chaos. And it’s only going to get worse. Can you imagine what this will look like with 5th gen stealth fighters and even better radars?

Objectives? What objectives?

The ground targets are all shoved into the center of the map, and no one cares about them, not because we don’t want to, but because the game doesn’t reward it. Go ahead, try to multipath and reach a base without getting sniped. Matches are decided by who wipes who first in the opening missile exchange. The objectives serve no strategic purpose, they’re just decorations for where the chaos happens.

RWR beeping the moment you leave the runway

From the very second you take off, your RWR goes nuts. You get locked up before you even stabilize your altitude. That’s not tension — that’s poor pacing. The combat has no build-up anymore. Everything happens all at once, and if you’re not meta, you’re gone before the fight begins.

Where do we go from here?

The top-tier experience is collapsing under its own weight. Without adjustments to map size, objective relevance, radar/missile mechanics, or BR decompression, we’re heading toward a mode that only benefits a handful of aircraft. The rest of us are just here to die for their scoreboard.

This is gonna be interesting topic.

What adjustments to missile/radar mechanics?

I see a lot of complaints about not being able to select a specific radar mode from a list, or even go back to a previous one. Right now, if you skip the mode you want by accident, you have to cycle through all the available modes just to get back to it.

But honestly, maybe it’s not even about radar controls alone, BR decompression would already fix a big part of the problem. You’ve got aircraft like the mig-23ML and F4S getting uptiered into matches with the JAS 39A, and we all know the gap between these three in terms of radar.
