as said daimler will not provide any data
I believe your second and third proposed configuration might be the same thing. Do you have any other quotes for “DB605A + VDM” being a thing?
The source for that configuration, with a 650kph figure, notes that it is without using WEP. What that implies to me is that we are looking at the same DB605A-1(M) + VDM config that the Luftwaffe installed, but the plane only achieves 650kph if you don’t actually use the MW-50. So on 100% throttle it’s 650kph, and on MW-50 WEP it’s 720kph?
TLDR: I still believe the upgraded MM.495 only received the MW-50 boosted engine with the VDM propeller.
so how yall doing any new news on the situation
Still collecting data
“i love it man keep it going”
With some luck this coming week I’ll go collecting more useful info. Fingers crossed, guys
Remember lads don’t lose hope just yet it has been shown and prove by previous BP rewards that big changes can be made atleast until the time it would normally take someone to claim the vehicle on the BP and since this is the top reward there is some time to collect sources.
It’s enjoyable in GRB, which is what I thought the Re.2005 was really aimed at?
no, it’s a fighter? why would it be aimed at ground rb just because it’s the only Italian one with a decent bomb load.
not really, in reality a lot of planes can carry 1000kg bombs, but if gaijin don’t add the bomb…
also the reggiane 2001 cn if i remember correct
Because it has a good amount of cannon ammo (plenty of vulnerable - open-top ground vehicles at its BR), an okay bomb, and flight performance that outdoes what most people bring for CAS (and people don’t bother climing in GRB, so there’s that, too - they play into your hands). It is enjoyable in GRB. If you’re playing ARB, just take G.55 or such.
Truly one of the posts of all time, yeah bro I’ll just be happy with an over tired plane because it’s mediocre in ground rb, we should delete this entire thread. And the g55 is just as over tied besides the 4.3 one, while being worse in every category so idk why I’d play that instead lol.
You just want to whine, i get it.
All you do on this forum is instigate.
Nope. All i said was the Re. 2005 is enjoyable in the best and most popular mode this game has to offer (ground). If you wanna whine because of its performance in air battles, go at it.
It is not “whining”.
Get over yourself. You aren’t what you think you are. Nobody is “baiting”. Chronically online.
you’re great at saying a lot while saying nothing, honestly what’s your point, we should be happy we have a mediocre cp vehicle because it’s alright in ground rb? because that is laughable, and judging from the premiums and how ground rb balance has been left to die I’d say you’re mistaken there too.
I do agree with you
If you look at the German evaluations, not just flight performance, the picture of late-war Italian fighters is pretty clear. The Re.2005 was very fast and agile, but also fragile, over-engineered, and hard to mass-produce. The G.55 was seen as the best overall: solid, stable, easier to maintain, and much more practical. The Macchi 205 was still a good fighter, but based on an older design.
In War Thunder, things like production complexity or structural strength obviously don’t matter, only the performance numbers do. But historically that’s exactly why the Germans preferred the G.55 – it was a realistic frontline fighter, while the Re.2005 was more of a high-performance prototype.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Italian tests at the time actually underrated the Re.2005, mostly for political reasons and maybe even corruption, since Fiat and Macchi had much stronger influence than Reggiane. In reality, many Italian pilots thought the Re.2005 flew better, but that wasn’t reflected in the official reports.
All in all, the current 6.0 BR for the Re.2005 in War Thunder feels too high. The difference from the G.55 is small, and in the game it doesn’t really justify a full step up. A BR around 5.3 would make a lot more sense and fit better with how these planes actually compared.
in any case the br is not the focus of this whole thing
