The Re.2005 VDM situation is crazy

which has been removed and is therefore irrelevant here

How about a separate bug report on just the engine?

I suggest you and @S_bastienZ88 join effort again to make a new bug report. Possibly, you should focus your effort into proving MM.495 had DB605A with MW-50 (which makes it identical to DB605AM). This way we are sure to make the VDM have 1800hp. Then you should prove to them that the VDM rn uses MM.494 data with the bad engine from the serie 5 tests so it should have the serie 0 top speed and an improved climb rate thanks to the increased hp.
For the top speed… idk. I’m afraid the best we can get is 650 km/h or 678 km/h as stated in one of S_bastienZ88 source.

Sorry but this clarification seems unnecessary, as players who already own it can still use it.
The main point is that, when there is interest, historical accuracy sometimes appears to be treated with flexibility.

This has always been the case because gaijin has stated they do NOT want to straight up remove content that players have unlocked. For all intents and purposes they are REMOVED and have been for a reason.

okay bro your posts are unnecessary and add nothing to the discussion, the plane is utterly unfair stuff like the new event place literally never took off and there is plenty of information on this prototype so it’s very much real and the information is obvious enough for me. stop trying to say there’s a standard dude, there ain’t they literally change stuff on a case by case basis.

Is there no one from Reggio Emilia who would like to spend (waste) some time on an honorable cause?

What do you have in mind?

I could go there, but only after this Friday

I haven’t found any direct references to the Re.2005 in the inventory on their site (but I did find some stuff on the 2004 and 2006). Since only 75% has been catalogued, I guess it could be worth a shot.
I’ll try to phone them to ask info and to book a visit, but in the meanwhile I think you should keep working on the report with what you have.

Yeah, I’d expect at least the 650-678km/h figure considering it’s cited for the 1480hp unboosted DB605A on the Serie 0. Proving that the VDM is not the damaged MM.494 shouldn’t be too hard, and performance beyond the given speed figure shouldn’t be that much of a reach as long as we can prove the DB605AM was fitted. Even if we can’t prove an exact 720km/h figure, all that Gaijin technically needs is proof that they have the wrong engine. War Thunder’s game engine shouldn’t struggle with placing an existing engine model with 1815hp onto an existing flight model. And as @paogland1975-psn mentioned, Gaijin already does this routinely with other aircraft in-game.

The engine is the centerpiece of the report. I’d imagine inquiries to the Reggiane archive or elsewhere can at least yield primary data that the engine was, in fact, fitted.

It looks like the archive does contain a decent amount of entries for the Re.2005, including one specifically relating to the VDM propellor. There are also records relating to Luftwaffe testing in 1942/Flight tests in 1943. I don’t know if you can somehow get these records online or if someone has
to go there in person though.

Where did you found these? I was searching through a PDF I found on their site.

This is great news.

glad i`m skipping this battle pass. This particular plane is more of a clone than a new unique vehicle, and now you say its even worse than that.

From the ‘digital archive’ page on their website. You have to download the digital archive index. Maybe someone who speaks Italian could ask if there is anyway to access those records online, there’s email addresses on their contact page.

in the website of the foundation
will send the link

It should be a tech tree aircraft. Make the battlepass aircraft weird and wacky sure but they should never be superior to what you can grind for. Didn’t the devs back in the day say that premium vehicles etc would never truly out perform the tech tree vehicles?

I agree with you, but since I really like this aircraft I’d like to see it perform as it did irl instead of this crap
