The Re.2005 VDM situation is crazy

remember to support the bug reports for the reggiane 2005

Just for curiosity then, as I haven’t purchased the Re.2005 (VDM)

The VDM is theoretically performing better than the Serie 0 thanks to the variable pitch propellers?

And just saying, I think Gaijin massacred the Re.2005s by putting them at 6.0 … though I still find them fun to play if used correctly

VDM has received the MW-50 water injection system and around 300 horsepower compared to the Serie 0, solid upgrade.

I think it’s propeller is still worse than the Serie 0 one though (in-game).

apparently the re2000 flight model is being changed and will be slightly faster, hopefully that is true for 2001, 2002, and 2005, they really are too draggy.

Will this change the dogfight performance much? The plane fights like a Ki-84 it’s insane.

it should make it better for 6.0, it’s pretty slow for it’s br, the ki84 for example will lose a sustained dogfight but it’s around 30 mph faster so it can control the engagement

what is a DB605AM

Thank you

Mind you this plane is 6.3 now…

Don’t remember me this, bruh, all this work for another nerf

Did anyone tested the climbrate increase with the VDM? I’ve been playing the TT one lately and i quite like it. considering to get the VDM when sales start and prices plummet a bit, DB605A it falls short in Climb rate , i wonder how much better it is with the AM engine. I would’ve played G56 if they haven’t murdered the flaps…

Here are the EM diagrams for the serie 0 and VDM at low altitudes (I think the test was done at 1000m). Many thanks to Catwerfer for making these.

As you can see, the VDM has about 26 m/s climb rate vs 22 m/s for the serie 0.
This is far from the best at the br, but it still a very nice improvement and makes the plane a worthy 6.0… so they moved it to 6.3 :,( . Technically, the plane could have climbed a bit better irl, but for the moment we have no way of going to Rome to search for the data so we have to make due with what we have.

P.S.: try the G.56. You have nearly the same climb rate (25.6) but you lose less power with altitude. The higher rip speed and lower compression let it easily use the energy advantage. You lose the great turn, but you still have enough to deal with most threats.

i do play 56 and 2005 interchangeably. 55S was amongst my top 10 most aircraft back in the day. I like the nose authority of 2005 even though it locks up past 600kmh ias. I would’ve just played the G56 if they haven’t butchered the flaps since you need them to outrate the LF IX and they cannot be deployed at most speeds.

If you havent realised yet, gaijin doesnt ballance br by performance or stats, but by the vehicles winrates. Probably let AI to make a spreadsheet for them.

Yes I know. I’m trying my best to play very well so we’ll see the Re.2005 at 6.7
