Both Japanese and Chinese decals supposedly need Rank III light tanks or higher according to the Forum post, but I’ve found Japanese MBTs to work as well for some reason.
Even in-game the requirement for the Japanese decal only states “Japanese vehicles”, thus allowing non-light tanks to contribute kills.
Not at all, because there are indeed some event parts where rank III+ is absolutely required. As example, the Battlepass has challenges where you have to do it in a rank III+. But the debated issue is “rank 2 … (is) useless for any event”. And there are many birds that can fly. I can see some doing it right now!
So the premise for this discussion is simply wrong.
because they are.
You litteraly cannot compete in any event with rank 2 vehicles.
This means they are useless for any event.
Holiday events
Complete 3 matches for a decal
The new monthly decal event
Complete different kinds of tasks for a decal; some even require a specific type of vehicle.
The normal events
Mission score based with score modifiers depending on the rank and gamemode.
As I said before, I understand the restriction for the normal events, but not for the other events.
Concerning the possible sealclubbing that could happen: As me and you yourself and others have already pointed out, experienced players can simply circumvent this restriction easily.
Which still doesn’t mean that I want to j-out of my Panzer IV to spawn into a rank 3 or am event vehicle, just for the match to count.
Also Battlepass daily tasks are not a matter of this discussion, or I would have mentioned it in the post.
For normal events, like the F-5 one right now, I understand the limitation, as it hinderes experienced players from seal-clubbing the lower ranks
As I said before in my post, I understand the limitations for normal vehicle events.
My point was more that I want to complete the holiday or decal events with rank 2 vehicles.
But, as was already pointed out, experienced and veteran players can easily circumvent these restriction.
There are tons of low rank event vehicles that can be used to sealclub and grind events.
And those are exclusively for experienced and veteran players, as these low rank vehicles are way harder to come by these days.
So to argue the case of sealclubbing is kinda irrelevant when the experienced, veteran players that sealclub already have the (exclusive to them) means to do so fairly easy.
Rank I and Rank II planes are less beginner friendly to start flying due to older technologies, worse visibility and lack of a lot of automation and support.
Most new players I encounter tend to be flying BR 10 or so for the SAS and guided weaponry. Most people asking on reddit for advice are told to start at korean or early vietnam jets due to SAS and no torque and again, guided weaponry.
Your argument makes sense for Air RB, but not for air sim.
Let us fly our hellcats, early corsairs, wildcats, early spitfires and warhawks and italian things and whatnot without being denied event participation.
Also
Rank II. P-51-C-10 4.0 BR
Rank III P-51 cannonstang 4.0 BR.
There’s nations with multiple 3.0-4.0 bracket rank III planes.
There’s nations where rank III shoves you up into 4.7 minimum for their fighters/interceptors.
Since ranks are fairly arbitrary, why not make it a BR limit instead? It could be at 3.0, which allows the use of the iconic earlierWW2 tanks, but it doesn’t bring in a lot of seal clubbing tanks or planes.
I also think it should be removed from sim since there’s a vastly different dynamic at low tiers there.
Careful with what they say. You remember when they had this player assessment tool and everybody who checked was way above average. If you looked closely, they compared with their entire (ever) player base, not just the active one. Which includes many people, who only briefly looked into the game and politely left.
So I am sure, most players never paid a dime. But also most players never play these days.
Personally, I think the rank 3 minimum is to stop 3000+ hour tryhards from only playing 1.3 for their new shiny event vehicle. If there were no bottom limit, every time an event rolled around very skilled players would flock to these lower br’s just to mop the floor with all the new players.
Sure, there is incentive to play higher br’s as you get a higher multiplier. But this on its own would not stop high tier sweats ruining the lower br’s for a couple weeks at a time just for some shiny event vehicle.
(yes I know a lot of high tier players go to low br to sealclub, but giving a real reward for doing that is absurd)
Within the game the requirements don’t mention light tanks:
(As per this post from JPAU401)
So it just looks to be incorrect information in the decal forum post (or they set up the requirements wrong in the game – but that’s the one that works so I’d go with that).
