The Pantsir SM-SV is Simply Too Strong, Russian Bias as Clear as Day

You were trying to notch an IR missile? I bet you were just flying straight and poping some flares. A stinger would snap your ass if it had enough travel time…

That’s just a lie, lol.
Additionaly SLM is pretty bad at munition interception, especially KH-38. inevitable death radius with them is close to 8km as well.

Datalink in SLM does not work, once the seeker has acquired a target, it flies on its own. That’s the main reason it can’t defeat DLIRCM.

You do get that adding ARMs would give a reason for Gaijin to send the SP cost of other more versatile guided ordnance to the moon making encountering them much less common (and would take valuable stations from other ordnance).

Since ARMs provide a specific capability that targets their counter and can’t be readily used against non-radiating targets they are a practically self contained addition that would have little impact on Balancing outside CAS vs SPAA dynamics.

Also ESM basically just allows you to geolocate an RWR contact and so generate targeting coordinates off it. So basically if something lights you up with a radar you can near immediately drop a PGM, sling A2A missile at it or slew a sensor at the point of interest.

It’s not a good thing for the overall balance.

If general use guided A2G weapons would get a lot more expensive, I could get behind adding ARMs

However, if such an SP cost increase isn’t implemented, all that the addition of ARMs would achieve is making the CAS problem for teams without Pantsirs worse

Just adding ARMs also wouldn’t fix the actual problem that led to the introduction of the Pantsir or make the Pantsir more balanced

tkx/type-10 can’t even look at it in face off.

b-but the 4 second reload…

lmao I see why your takes are so divorced from reality if you believe that, go notch more ir missiles lil bro, your elitist attitude doesn’t match your bot k/d

Not really, it wouldn’t do much since without the change there would be little reason to use them since it needs radar emissions to home in on, which can be dealt with by leaving the search radar off (or intermittently scanning for a brief period), or watching for a (obvious) launch plume and turning the radar off, and moving. Or ditching the radar entirely and relying on Thermals and Electro Optical systems, and air-defense callouts to support guidance.

Also depending on which systems are implemented there is a good chance that the missile will still need to do a Baseline-Lofting maneuver post-launch to calculate the point of impact (which technically constitutes LOAL, so may never be implemented) by adjusting the loft and so constrain range significantly.

I doubt that Gaijin would introduce ARMs with a semi-automatic Self-Protection mode where they can immediately be launched at a contact off the rip so it will take a few seconds to correlate ESM data (requires multiple individual pulses or sustained tracking to improve accuracy) and point the nose at the contact in order to respond.

What are you guys doing that the bmpt is clapping those cheeks.

When I see the BMPT in my TKX or type 10 all it sees is this

True but in addition they added free AA and free daily respawns. That has pushed the envelope way farther than it would have been previously.

The A2G ARM should be given to nations without access to supersonic release A2G weapons. There are a few and it should even the playing field compared to Kh-38MT and similar missiles.

I play CAS/CAP often and I’m all for giving people fun weapons to fight air threats like the SM-SV. More nations should have better anti missile SHORAD. But nations should have access to weapons that can destroy the AA like the SM-SV and some nations have problems with it.

I’m a bit naive what is ARM?

literally zero reasoning for this op thing to be added lol, gaijin I’m s mask off and only the most delusional pay piggies will defend it, ground is far more rotted than air though at least it’s not a complete Russia fest, can’t wait to get my asea f15, only to get r***ed by the su35 continently added 3 month later

Air is far less russia-favouring than ground as it stands.

I am aware that (most) ARMs probably wouldn’t be hard to counter in a void, but in an actual battle, the situation is different.

The ARM isn’t the only thing you have to worry about, if other FnF weapons are coming your way, disabling your radar might not be an option and even when disabling your radar is an option, your room to move around tends to be tiny.

A lot of maps have very little cover to sit behind so you don’t get sniped by tanks.

On one of those maps, where do you go if you have to evade an ARM?

See that’s my point too. This is exactly the same mechanic as the Kh-38MT but with “radar” instead of thermal.

I suck at ARB and can definitely say F16 PoBIT is US bias that thing is so much freaking fun.

Sorry, mean ARB that F16 slaps and is so agile it should be illegal.

oh in arb yeah the F-16 fm is incredible

In This context it’s Anti-Radiation Missiles, examples of this would be missiles such as the AGM-45 Shrike, AGM-78 Standard-ARM (ST-ARM, air launched conversion of RIM-66 Standard missiles) AGM-88 High Speed, Anti-Radiation Missile and AGM-112 SideARM (converted AIM-9C, used by Harries and AH-1 ) at least for US airframes these would start with a Pair or two at 9.0 / 8.7 with the F-100D / A-4B at the earliest.

(useful) Russian systems would start and end with the KH-58 which have comparatively very limited carriage to specialist airframes for the most part.
