Oh and regarding the EF again:
People sleep on the PavewayIV which doesn’t have a speed limit and can be droped gnns+laser

You didnt mention what u have to go through to get it spaded
It was rather easy.
With napalm bombs I didn’t struggled at all.
Used to be great, but Pantsir and just swats them out of the sky.
Even with guns, they travel so slowly
Which is why I switched with brimstone whenever I use spice250.
Also German Typhoon is the best one in terms of CAS, you get both HOSBO and SPICE250’s.
But just on paper if were honest. I cant think of one pylon where i would unironically use HOSBOs instead of Spices, Brimstones or HARMs.(or double AAMs)
You can get 8 spice 250, 2 harms and 2 HOSBO bombs and A2A missiles.
Much better than brimstone+Spice250 loadout if you ask me.
But are the 2 Hosbos really worth more than 6 additional brimstones or 2 HARMs?
You don’t loose access to HARM missiles when you equip HOSBO and Spice250, you just switch them with 6 brimstones.
Before SM addition I would’ve taken Brimstone’s, nowadays however any F&F munition is much better than SAL’s unless you’ll go after helicopters.
Sure but then you lose access to more Brimstones which are in my humble opinion the only redeeming factor the EFT has as CAS.
Id probably agree if it was more than 2 additional FnF munitions but i feel like having 6 Brimstones even if youre just using them as a distraction is worth more than 2 fat, slow Hosbos when you already have 8 Spices.
I can respect that.
In the end its up to personal preferences, to me any F&F is better than SAL when it comes dealing with ground threats because you can just simply toss them and be done with it or use MITL and be even more effective.
This.
I only have the UK variant, but also only use 3 Brims to take out helis and S1 and on the other pylon 2xPavewayIV which are great when dropped low and supersonic and if there is no AA up you can simply guide them in.
I just rarely really get good chances to drop the SPICES.
As soon as a Pantsir is up, you don’t even need to try and because it’s still in the free SPAA pool, there is always at least one.
I don’t even get why the GBU-39 can now be dropped faster then M1 but the SPICE can’t. Isn’t it almost the same bomb ?
In practice planes can release these munitions much faster than in game, however Gaijin believes in otherwise.
Meanwhile F-16 releases GBU-53’s at Mach 1.1 with ez.
Can’t touch a supersonic fighter going almost 90 degrees from you with missiles at 2-3km
Also, SM-SV’s missiles are rollable
Has attitude limit though
And you don’t get as many
Adv of brimstones is that you can fire off so many more (and without cool down) than a pantsir can intercept while having some left over, while being harder to intercept due to size, no real speed limit and you can even launch them while upside down
You can also prefire them and use them to great effect against helicopters
I have to check that in game when im home and if it’s true, i never had an issue with it when dropping low.
Attitude, not altitude
Can’t drop bombs while upside down
All munitions have a small altitude limit though
Can’t use them below circa 5m ralt or so.
Don’t know the exact value
Ah, my bad, not a big limitation though.
Not on the subject of CAS, especially with the inclusion of Anti-Raditaion Missles used by all nations.
NATO vs NATO isn’t all that balanced in purely SPAA vs CAS, and as I said, you can beat out most SPAA on attrition alone. This is not comparing 1 SPAA vs 1 plane, but against multiple planes, which is the realistic scenario.
Russia does have strong easy to use CAS, but that doesn’t dismiss other nations ability against current top tier SPAA.
Arguably the LMURs are easier to deal with because they carry less per spawn versus a Z-10 or AH-64E, which again- will beat you out in a battle of attrition. I very well can intercept it’s munitions in the new Pantsir, but with experience–I’l tell you that’s the wrong answer. You will never reliably take out every piece, one always manages to get through or misses, and these are all fnf munitions. You wipe an SM almost clean after 1 volley and virtually any other SPAA.
The problem was well present before the new Pantsir is my point on the topic of CAS.
What I often here for helis is:
“Nobody else can effecientely take them out”
“I don’t have time to react in my heli.”
None of those address the main problem, the heli. Instead it’s the offending vehicle engaging it. Current helicopters is the embodient of give an inch, and they take a mile. Realistically there is no true way of balancing that kind of capibility, and it being a ground mode, the helicopters shouldn’t neccessarily be the first and foremost priority.
From my experience, helis are either completely useless or utterly overpowered. Rarely is it in between.
And this is especially exacerbated by whether it’s a full uptier or full downtier.
The perfect examples (I’d say) are the Z-10A, Ka-52, and Apache Mk.1.
They perform exceedingly well against practically any target in a full downtier (besides competent fixed-wing aircraft), but often remain mostly useless in a partial / full uptier, especially depending on the map.
You could argue that compression is the main reason for this dichotomy, though (while it may be a significant factor) I believe fixing this would not completely solve the balancing issue.
I think making munitions limited (like for SPAA) may be a good idea and I’d say that it should be based on how much SP you have / are willing to spend every time you resupply.
The amount of SP that you need to resupply can depend on how good your loadout is (like how custom loadout SP costs are already implemented).
I think Gaijin could also implement this for fixed-wing aircraft.
This way, helicopters (and fixed-wing aircraft) can’t spam AGMs carelessly, can’t deplete SPAAs’ munitions nearly as easily.
I also think that a lot of maps should have their helipads be behind some form of cover (or mountains in general). That way helicopters have some room to work with besides praying that nobody has a contrast-lock SPAA up while they balloon up.
Fixed-wing aircraft will always be more of a danger to experienced helicopter (and other fixed-wing aircaft) players than most SPAAs, so make it easier to spawn them in. I’d argue lowering CAP from 480SP to 400SP would be reasonable.
Maybe they could also increase the SP gain per kill from using aircraft as well to compensate for it too, though it may not be necessary depending on how easy it is to resupply.
