The Pantsir SM-SV is Simply Too Strong, Russian Bias as Clear as Day

I feel in an Iris-T truck as underdog.

Huge bus. No way to defend against any ground unit. Locked into small maps, mostly within even smaller spawn areas. Something always sticking out, radar dish getting shot 24/7.

Then immune helicopters, ARMs and KH-38 spammers which are simply impossible to intercept. KH-38 with its agressive lofting and high speeds are constantly missed. LMURs getting spammed wave after wave right from the heliports - instant reloading, chopper is immune.

Dunno…this game doesn’t support these huge strategic SAM batteries. They’re too close to the frontline, ingame. Also Anti rad missiles can be somehow shot without exposing the carrier plane. Dunno how they do it. But I’m watching radar screen all the time and suddenly there are incoming ARMs, without any sign of the jet.

Then compare this to russian SPAA’s. Saclos mode. You can fire where you want to. Not dependant on any radar lock or surveillance. You can simply use sights, if needed. You’re small. Flat. Fast. Guns for close range self defense and air passes. Even the missiles are good enough to pen the side of western MBTs. And ofc alot, really alot more ammo to deal with incoming ordnance.

If it wasn’t added, CAS would still be an issue though. If it shouldn’t of been added, then considerations should of been made for what other Anti-Airs cannot deal with and how easy it is for CAS to overwhelm them in combat.

Of course it wasn’t considered because CAS mains essentially did not care at that point in time, or it was a complete afterthought. The BUK has the same capibility of TWS, but just like the other SAMs, it can not handle dozens of bombs aling with a few mavericks being thrown at it, since it has to be stationary to engage them all.

Virtually what @Thodin said but mainly against Russian weapons.
Just to be clear I’m not explcitiyl talking about Russian CAS, all CAS is strong in their own right at top tier.

They can’t
you’re coping

I demonstrated this to you before

They somewhat can. He’s more delegating to low level shots with HARMS and how they can hug terrain, especially on maps cluttered with terrain. You may only see the aircraft on radar for a few moments and sometimes the HARMS won’t show up until it’s too late.

They can, lol.

Show me a clip then

Plane is still exposed.
Contrary to what Thodin is suggesting

Practically not. What does 0.5 secs exposure time help you? Some maps have terrain features which greatly benefit CAS and make any SPAA to autolose.

Plane must still expose themselves to fire.

even then, evading an ARM is as simple as turning your radar off for less than a second since they do not have inertial guidance

This is only considering if it’s 1 plane up and a 1v1 situation.

Most times there are always more than one air asset up a time, turning off your radar in moments like that is not advisable.

It’s either that, or get smited by an ARM.
I’m gonna shoot off missiles at targets, then turn radar off and turn it on again quickly

Only way to deal with it unfortunately

It is far more common to have several sam per plane than several planes per sam.

Don’t be like this^^

Pretty much conditioning at that point. I’ve seen for myself ARMs used in conjuction with Mavericks for example.

Maybe they’re within 5kms and you see the smoke trail of an ARM, sure all well and good, but now they’ve mixed it in with infared weapons. You’re cooked.

Russian pilots have done the same thing. Kh-31s mixed with Kh-38s once they noticed people shutting down their radar

Precisely, multipathing exists and absolutely nothing changes.

So why all this talk about a sam struggling against multiple planes, when the situation is usually exactly the opposite?

Multipathing, map design and terrain that doesn’t care about how many SAMs you have up when it’s not hard to close the gap, with the exception of just a select few maps that aren’t even that popular amongst ground players.

Why do you think it’s much harder in Nuclear Escalation to pull this off with how the map is designed. All of a sudden anti-air is more effective in a gamemode that’s not Ground RB? Math isn’t mathing and it’s not “cracked” AI.

Imagine deploying a multi SAM unit on maps like 38th Parallel. One of these pit maps, surrounded by high cliffs. Very small with nowhere to go, except the spawn base area. You have zero line of sight nor radar arc to somehow fight air targets. While jets suddenly pass and drop ordnance. Or simply stay away and shot F&F with almost no exposure time. If you dare to somehow show your radar dish for some kind of return, you get shot by a tank.

Would prefer saclos + gun combo every time. Unfortnately just Russia got these at top tier.

It would have sounded more convincing if you’d tried doing cas yourself. But even so, it really does make a difference. For example, it’s often quite difficult to deal with ARH and IIR anti-aircraft guns at the same time, because what helps against one probably will leave you vulnerable to the other.

Yeah, yeah, It was basically no different from GRB… For example, the ItO were fully aware of everything happening in their area of work even with their radar turned off. And there were plenty of other things like that that the players couldn’t do, but the AI could.

Good place to farm soviets with zulu

Players turn off radar in Ground RB and are pretty much well aware of what jets are near them regardless… The ITOs aren’t restricted to needing a radar to fire and engage targets with optical.

The only major difference is most systems had early warning radars to use and connecting radar systems to stay aware of the threat.

Plus we have t-6-1 cmd which spots jet no matter what, even through terrain
