The Pantsir SM-SV is Simply Too Strong, Russian Bias as Clear as Day

The picture I referenced very well implies that as it’s showing fragmentation being dispersed in 1 direction. Just becacuse the testing of similar missles use a different method does NOT mean that’s how every one will operate or MUST operate because other principles don’t “make sense.”

That doesn’t happen very often, and if the goal is going for a “gaijin moment” where it doesn’t do anything, that’s already silly on it’s own because now the implication is hoping game mechanics don’t work properly.

yes in one direction, forward

in a radially uniform pattern

they are not being dispersed in a single radial direction

That happens more time to me than I wished it would.
Im not saying that is a goal, what I’m saying is that making a blueprint of the plane mid flight effectively negates that scenario

Depending on how far away the missile detonates, a blueprint would still happen regardless, ethier way you see it, just less fragments to look at. the plane would still ultimately be crippled since energy is being focused 1 way rather than spread out the way I see it.

Okay let me keep it simple. It’s using the same principle AHEAD rounds do. Just on a missile.

So when I say in “1 direction forwward” I mean it’s not sending fragments 360 degrees around the missile like on annular blast fragmentation warhead, or using the principle of a continous rod warhead.

And even IF, it doesn’t use the AHEAD principle and uses traditional principles, it wouldn’t change the fact that it will NOT detonate until the radar tells it too and it’s within range, so it’s still going to send fragments out like on a normal air to air missile which kill pretty reliably.

0.77 ton*

Depends by how much you miss laterally

and let’s not even get into the very suspicious ballistic coefficient giving it the ability to basically never slow down, even compared to heavy SAMs like type 03 or Aster

They artificially buffed this missile and its so obvious. The rapier had or still has piss poor filler and the sharpnel that comes of it doesnt even crit, meanwhile this mach 5 on-the-deck fantasy missile seems to be armed with a small plutonium warhead instead of tnt. If I remember correctly, on the dev server the sm-sv early on was similar to the rapier. It didn’t crit often

The blueprint effect is due to how the game removes “irrelevant” fragments that would have missed or done no damage, it is present for all weapons but is almost invisible for ones with normal fragmentation levels like AIM-120 and similar

Super Pantsir missiles have such a ridiculously over inflated number of fragments that the game assigns one to basically every square cm of the aircraft while normal ones have a dispersion of a few fragments per 50cm square (rough numbers not exact datamines)

Its not over performing compared to AHEAD which is what it actually is

i would say its overperforming in frag size, i’ve already done calculations based on size, and that tip also has a rocket propulsion that lasts very short but still there combined with actuators and other electronics, it should make the internal volume not enough for 5000 fragments, its about enough volume size for like 1200 at most and its while being positive, i’d say reallistically like 800 e

I thought I’d put my voice here

Realistically, what makes the SM SV stand out is that the game has this arcade nature where response time has a massive value. While there are other anti aircraft with good response times such as SAMP/T and Sky Sabre. The SM-SV and even the regular S1 has such insane response time thanks to the TWS tracking where simply picking and choosing is not about fighting the radar or cycling which target you want to pick. Additionally, the TWS tracking narrows down where you want to scan for potential targets to intercept. Now pair this with the radar control screen which makes missiles AI-guided which in other words - mean impossible to evade kinematically, and you get an undefeatable anti aircraft.

It is genuienly so stupid and this is so game breaking. While other anti aircraft has to deal with downsides such as multipathing or notching or even just attempting to choose or pick up the target on radar. The SM SV gets exclusive capability to deal with aircraft that are flying low and high and can easily and rapidly pick and choose targets. With the only downside being line of sight required. But this has little to no impact if you can simply respond to any incoming attacks (both for yourself and your teammates). The ammo box supplies a ridiculous amount of missiles, and just alone having up to what, 48 TKB-1055 (which no one realistically brings, you also bring some 95Ya6M) and once again you have an unbeatable anti aircraft.

I just wonder why Snail decided to place that radar screen on all AA’s.
True it is more accurate, that you can actually see what you are scanning, but it could be left only on launcher sam systems, and get rid of that from every saclos AA system

Yep only an AFK person on their phone can mess up in the SV…Literally idiot proof

russian aa technologia too advanced for western minds

What players also don’t consider is that aircraft in Realistic Battles have the same level of engangment and response time as the SM-SV. WIth how aircraft handle in Ground RB, you might as well also say they also benifit from the arcade nature of things. The SAMP/T and Sky Sabre are good, but not good enough when pilots actually know what they are doing and everything just gets outright multipathed. The Radar Screen doesn’t matter in this instance because the initial game design led people to believe that SACLOS SPAA are supposed to be manuall guided over radar guided. All AA systems have some form of autonomous guidance that don’t require necessitate the need for steering or manually guiding the missile.

It’s not as game breaking as you might think it is, because the “downsides” the other anti-airs ofter are so prominent that they aren’t even worth bringing out. Helicopters are a prime example of this, most imes if not all the time, they dont have too do much to dodge the missles, and the overwhelming firepower they get, especially hovering near or over helipads make them ny’ impossible to challenge unless you have SACLOS SPAA. The SM-SVs capibilities and map design reflect what the vehicles desgination as a SHORAD is, that is why it’s so effective. When you put large SAM sites in the same role as the SHORAD, they become much less effective and virtually pointless, which is why they work better in Nuclear Escalation because the envrionment they operate in favors their strenghts.

It definetely is not game breaking that an SPAA can challenge the reaction time of CAS pilots, because the reaction time of CAS has never been taken into consideration. And this is just talking about 1 pilot. SM-SV gets very easily overwhelmed when there are multiple assets in the sky because it can’t deal with everything at once. NO AA system can deal with everything at once, which makes it extremely hard to manage.

If people for example can complain how fast a Su-30 loaded with Kh-38s can pop up, select targets and dive away, or how an F-15 can pop up over a mountain ~2.5kms away from an AA system and have enough time to pop off 2 Mavericks followed by bombs. Or effectively do the same thing with newly added Anti-Radiation Missles that become almost unreactable or are able to skim terrain and avoid radar, when they are employed correctely. We’re missing the bigger picture.

You are on some kind of point here, but I am am not only talking about how the Pantsir SM SV challenges response times against aircraft only. No I am talking munitions.

SM-SV with its fancy pants TWS locking radar can pick and choose any incoming munition rapidly and accurately. These other systems require that the seeker itself captures the target, many of which can fail if there are many munitions cluttered in the same area.

Additionally, yes you are right about a “SHORAD makes it effective”, I think it further proves a point that the SM-SV is way more capable than any anti aircraft in the game and is another reason to simply not add it.
