The Pantsir SM-SV is Simply Too Strong, Russian Bias as Clear as Day

  • Low level strafing
  • Add rocket pods to your loadout and use the rockets as a way to distract and saturate the Pantsirs radar
  • Rocket spam in general
  • Teamplay
  • Use a tank

All things American teams fail to do lol

Those are things for YOU to do, not for your team to do

If you’ve got a buddy, you can do teamplay

I don’t :(

I do all those things yet we still loose and I consistently placed top three in my team

You can’t change the fact that you might end up with a bad team, you can only do your best and hope that the matchmaker blesses you with a good team

I rarely spawn air at top tier. I think thats the way to do. Spawning jets or choppers doesn’t really help you vs russian teams. Even their free reserve SPAA is op. Theyre just too good, you better spend the points for ground vehicles. Instead of investing 780 sp for jets which usually get shot down without scoring. You simply won’t penetrate russian AA.

I mean, in general sometimes spawning CAS isn’t helpful

People tend to just spawn CAS because they can and they don’t think about spawning a tank instead because it might be more helpful for their team

Even at BRs without the Pantsir, you might end up having all your A2G weapons intercepted by the SAMs and SPAAs at said BRs or you just don’t find any good targets, making you pretty useless for your team

You have to gauge whether your contribution in a plane would be valuable or not and when you misjudge the situation you waste SP and don’t help your team

I fail to read the situation in a lot of matches as well, but you have to learn from those mistakes to be able to avoid such wasted CAS spawns in the future

Yeah I totally understand that I am just currently trying to gather footage with the AGM 84H

So I am struggling to successfully do so with the F18E

What should be my ideal loadout?

good for light armored targets which are spotted or only enemy spawn zone

good idea but also will onyl server as pantsir counter not good for CAS in any way

after 5 minutes you don’t have a team good luck.

like previously kinda hard when you get stomped by lmurs / kh-38’s and a swarm of 5 to 10 russian tanks on your spawn.

That depends on personal preference

I personally would just ditch the F/A-18 entirely and go with an F-16 to go strafing or use the F-15E to carpet bomb the enemy spawn with SDBs

You could pick four SLAMs and add the two rocket pods, you probably won’t really need AMRAAMs either way, but depending on the map SLAMs won’t be useful in the first place and the F/A-18E doesn’t seem like a good plane for strafing runs , so I believe using only the F/A-18E limits you quite a lot

People seem to be somewhat succesful by just spamming dumbfire rockets from helis, but I don’t know if that is actually helpful at all lol

I mean, he was asking for a Pantsir counter

You still bring other guided weapons, the rockets are just there to distract the Pantsir

I meant coordinated teamplay, not relying on randoms

Why would you worry about a Pantsir at that point? Just leave or use spawn protection to get a few free kills

I definitely agree with F-18 not being a viable aircraft for CAs runs, but I’m just trying to do it for the YouTube video and I’m having a hard time doing so

I’ve got a replay that I’m sure would be of great interest to you actually, I’ll post a youtube link and @ you sometime later.

Yeah sure, very OP then don’t fly straight at 10 km. The Pantsir SM-SV is complete trash. First of all, the radar randomly switches between targets depending on star and and planetari position. The only two anti-air systems that are manually guided and targeting system switching on chaf and is pantsir.

As soon as the target starts dropping bombs or, God forbid, chaff, you won’t hit anything because the system just starts jumping all over the place. GG.

I think the missile switching is the least of anyone’s concern, we are still talking about one of the best SACLOS AAs in the game with the most ludicrously fast and maneuverable missile ever. The missile is still being guided, your camera switches to a different target during that time.

This isn’t as good a point as you think it is in this situation. Look at the numbers on top tier SAMs and you find the worst performing ones among non-russian systems are the Type 03, Spyder (pre-buff), and both NASAMS. America for example also almost exclusively faces russia, so your explanation falls apart.

Regardless of what you want to say regarding the system, you HAVE 24 datalink channels, you can theoretically support all 16 of your ready to fire missiles. Other systems can’t.

“non-russian” → brings up russian systems???

Your lack of experience with other SAMs is showing… I’ve had multiple 9X’s lawndart into the ground on drones 0.5-1.5km away. I’ve had AMRAAM-ER’s spin out and do nothing (they arent even thrust vectoring). I’ve had SLM’s miss easy targets entirely as well. I reiterate, jank missiles are not unique to the SkySabre.

I watched a SkySabre swat multiple out of the sky sometime in the last few days, and last night I watched an HQ11 drop 3 in a row while my AMRAAM-ER’s got chaffed off at the last second, and its missiles have functionally identical seekers to those found on the CAMM-ER, so potentially anecdotal, but I’m pretty sure the CAMM-ER has better odds of hitting LDIRCM helis than something like AMRAAM-ER, and everything has more odds of doing so than SLM.

The point you are missing here is not that I said SkySabre is “good” or “works properly”, its that all the top tier SAMs are struggling hard, and of the bunch, SkySabre struggles the least. You don’t have it as bad as you think you do.

End of the day though, literally nothing holds up to the SM-SV

this is called skill issue also target switching is not much of an issue when it can autoguide MULTIPLE missiles at the same time
