Disagree, at least to me it doesn’t look like the AI has been beefed up. If the tickets are drained by wave 3, by my observation the usual causes are too many people in the group not knowing what’s important or just not doing it.
Ignoring of the bot planes (bad idea everywhere, but particularly so at Maginot and Ardennes in the 5.3-6.3 bracket and above, thanks to the half-ton goodies under their wings), rushing bot groups, not taking cover, bad shooting, not prioritising the tanks inside the base square…
Yesterday I left four Ardennes groups. Three right after the queue popped because I would like to have an actual chance of winning a universal backup in my first match of the day, and the last because I was blown up without having fired a shot, and destroyed by bot tanks 18 seconds after respawning. After that I got Kursk, and in this group people knew what to do. The planes were shot down early, the gunnery was ok, and I almost managed a new personal top score - missed it by 2, but that one always had a taint because I got it during the stacked spawn patch, and about 20 of the 142 kills were multis. Still, 141 kills and 4 assists is a good outcome, especially when the group wins.
I do wonder sometimes about the extra-sharp final wave of IS-2s at Kursk which seems to be made of sniper gunners, but that has been an issue for quite some time.
I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. My one attempt of giving Sinai a try quickly deteriorated into hit counting when some idiot decided it was a good idea to drive through the wall I was using for cover. Once exposed, I got six hits in a matter of seconds, and 13 more until a tank from a pack behind me placed the kill shot through a gap between buildings.
There is one thing which will make the bots look positively rabid, but I’m certain you know that one: somebody shooting at a bot pack from behind your tank. The bots have no eyes, all they know are (probably) coordinates. They’re getting shot at from a position which is not directly behind cover, and will start a furious return fire - and you are just in the way. That’s why I’m always getting slightly annoyed if somebody squeezes into my cover at Kursk.
I’m used to a couple shots slamming into my cover every now and then, but when one or two entire packs start pummeling it right after spawn and keep going, I just need to look behind me to see what pissed them off so much.
The easiest way to win is at the same time the hardest: just disable the tanks leading the packs, then pick off those stopped behind them. The problem is the amount of coordination this requires, there will always be people going for the easy kill of the disabled lead tank.
Oh, and the worst I got from a plane recently? My Panther was hit by a single cannon round from one of the bloody SU-6 at Kursk, which caused “ammunition burned down”. One round.
Had “team-mate” on Kursk destroy ALL buildings because he wanted to be able to shoot in any direction from the white circle. The idiot took away the cover I used on the far right, so every bot that came over the ridge targeted me in the back and I could no longer use that reliable camping spot.
What is maddening about the bots is… they (entire grouping) will ignore 7 closer tanks (that are shooting at them) to target me on the FAR SIDE of the map just because my back is turned for 3 seconds.
And yeah - most of the time you can NOT count on your team. Have lost count of the number times players continue to use smoke in the mode, even after multiple players have asked them to stop becuase the smoke helps the bots more than us.
After 18 months of almost exclusively playing Ground Assault (enough for the six active crews to hit 146 and the player rank at 97) and a background of almost 32 years working in IT, I still can’t say how the bots (tracked and flying) are picking their targets, except for the “in line with another player tank”.
However, I do have an estimate about the percentage of players who have no idea what to do, don’t care about what to do, are bad at what needs to be done, or are unable to follow a single thought to both ends (“if I can see the bots, they can see me as well, and they’re much better shots”).
I’d say it’s about 65 to 70%. The only really reliable fact about players I’ve encountered was this: if it’s somebody in a VFW, they’re good. I’ve yet to see somebody in a VFW who doesn’t fit that rule.
Ok, I just have to put this here: just got a personal best (or worst, depending on the view) in Mozdok. No less than five bot planes fired their rockets at me within about 20 seconds. Five, and none managed a kill shot.
Had the “2 waves (six groups of six) come at once” bug this morning again. In the 4-5 BR bracket.
When the server hamster absolutely wants to win that game no matter what. lol
Have you noticed this interesting tidbid in Ground Assault: there is no count of enemies per wave?
In Air Assault you can see how many enemies there are left, but not in Ground Assault. I have noticed the increased amount of tanks per wave. Now the map looks like an ocean of red and the final stats (if we win) show a crapload of kills… and deaths. Some people die more than once per minute. Don’t know if they do this on purpose or just don’t know how to play. Often I die less than 5 seconds after spawning and it’s infuriating, but I try to keep my deaths under 5, as each one bleeds the tickets.
I also have noticed that the yellow resupply spots are more scarce at the first few stages. Later, most of them are located out in the sticks, so even if you go for one, you will get shot in the back on the way back.
With the increased amount of tanks per wave, now they are more spread apart, so they have a broader field of view. You will be more likely to get shot between building or when you try to hide behind some cover. One moment you are safe, next you are being shot at from all across the map by a fast moving AI going over a rough terrain.
With the increased number of AI tanks, your ready rack ammo gets depleted fast. I very often end up with no ammo to shoot and reloading one shell takes forever for some strange reason. I have no choice but to j-out on some maps, as going out in the sticks for resupply is just a waste of time.
Overall, these ‘fish in a barrel’ maps are just plainly dumb. Stupid foliage EVERYWHERE, so you end up fighting with the stupid bushes before you can see the enemy correctly while AI doesn’t care about that. They will shoot through the fields of shrubbery from more than 1 km away. Trees still stick to your tank when you run over them. The entire mode is just a mess designed by someone who does not play Assault at all.
Assault Ground is an ABSOLUTE DISGUSTING MESS. Thanks for screwing up everything I play. Anywhere I go, gaijin’s en$ittification intensifies. Now there is some mess with waves starting when few enemies are still on the map.
This twisted idea to make the enemy markers dark red on purpose, even though I have selected light red, so they are less visible just takes the cake. Just ocean of red spawning. The numbers are staggering while you are stuck with a crummy 15-shell autoloader. You have no time to resupply on most of the maps. Every time you try, you get shot in the back either on the way there or on the way back from the new wave of enemies that decloaks by staggering number and shoots sniper style half a second later with no cooldown period. The idea that all the enemies have ACED crews is another sick idea, as most players have stock tanks with no shell and engine upgrades.
The fact that gaijin has removed the count of enemies in tanks (you can still see them in planes) tells you everything. I just hate these sneaky ways of nerfing everything. Yesterday I couldn’t get a rocket lock on planes that were less than 2 km away. I had to use my limited ammo to shoot them. What the actual freak, gaijin? If you just spent half of the time you figure out ways to nerf income and make the game more frustrating and instead fixed bugs and made everything more streamlined and intuitive, you would have this game in a much of a better shape. The fact that the last 7 months were atrocious in Naval on top of all of that and you have never apologized and compensated your customers is yet another example that you don’t care about your customers. It’s all just about these new shiny $80 premiums, isn’t it gaijin?
Have you ever noticed the “double wave” of enemies?
Two different sets of enemy tanks (like Leo1s AND Tiger 2s) attacking at the same time?
Have seen that on Japan and Mozdok.
I had double waves on Japan, Mozdok, Kursk, Maginot, Ardennes, have no doubts that they occur on Fulda and Sinai as well.
There is an indicator that one is about to happen, that’s time between the second and third bot spawn. Usually the time between spawns is about five seconds, so if you have spawn one, few seconds, spawn two, then more than a few seconds, odds are a second wave is coming in. Those can be handled, though, if there are no clowns in the group.
Disable the lead tanks, stop columns, take down the others - but if there are clowns, they keep blowing up the disabled tanks as easy kills.
Every patch brings new unannounced grief to PvE and this last one is not disappointing. Fix your damn game!!
I have ragequitted after a 5x wave in Kursk in the last 2 rounds. Yeah that’s right, 5 waves of T-90 and T-80 combined with 6 MiG-17s that brought a near perfect match to the f*ing ground.
That, and also the complete screw up of repair totems, that won’t repair and won’t restore crews.
It’s almost like Gaijin knows you are about to win the battle and then throws a monkey-wrench into the gears.
I mean, you ever notice that you are bombed way more often when you get into a good flanking position? And of course when you respawn, it’s the suicide spawn right in front of a wave of enemy bots that will continue the death cycle.
It’s gratifying to know I’m not the only one who thinks Ground Assault Arcade is utter shit.
Between the AI’s perfect aim, ability to shoot through the terrain, they are in tanks an entire tier above us. Then getting a double spawn of Tiger 2’s.
What the actual fuck Gaijin? This issue has been known for years, as I can see on this forum, and all you have done is screwed people even harder in response. You make me regret the tiny little bit of money I ever spent on this game, as you obviously don’t give a single shit about any of us. You don’t do ANYTHING about cheaters in pvp (shooting through terrain and obstacles).
The bombers seem to target players that are camping and racking up lots of destroys and the ai is accurate because players are accurate too. It’s meant to be an aim trainer for tanks and planes too. You need a dedicated aa person in games and it surprisingly actually gets you a lot of game score per plane shot down compared to tanks. For the tanks aiming and shooting, you have about 2 or 3 seconds to peak usually before they aim at you and fire, giving you just enough time to peak and fire unless most of them are focused on other players, then you get a few more seconds to fire.
