I was in the military and so I always admired the story, or precisely the documentation.
The story of the German pilot who was, yet an enemy, a gentleman. In a Me 109.
US bombers had just attacked his country, yet Charles Barkely, playing on the USA Dream Team basketball Olympic said…“I realized that no matter where you are from…everybody loves their country”.
He is a German pilot, dont know his name without looking it up…A B17 after a deep attack on Schweifort, a ball bearing priority, the B17 is damaged and struggling to get back.
DAMAGED is the key word here. However…as applies to Warthunder reality…understood.
The Me 109 pilot…a Prussian and not a fan of Hitler but a Warrior Class…pulls along beside it as it fights to get back to England.
Long story short…he does not destroy it because he admires the bravery of the crew.
WARTHUNDER…he COULD have destroyed it but didnt. A single Me 109. He let it go.
And so with modern F16CM on test flight…and WW2 props…
In F16CM at 1200km/hr with plenty of kinetic energy and Aim 120s with 8.2 TNT of destruction…why did I have to fire 4…let me say it 4 Aim 120s to bring down a Bomber?
Then when I look on the internet…it says that 16 kg of TNT will bring down anything in the sky! Modern TNT equivalent…this isnt a Clint Eastwood western…modern TNT equivalent.
I like to win, but I have from Top Tier to Props and I like flying them all…but I have a decision…do I attack a Bomber in a fighter…because we need to WIN and collect our Silvers and Research from that win…Or Die…knowing that I will play One Match for 45 minutes landing and reloading because I have poured 300 rounds of Cannon Shells to finally make it Die.
Im wondering…Warthunder (Gaijin) what is your Motivation for this Update?
Because I have Gaijin Pass, and seem to get a “Annoucement” about Premium Packs that coincides with the days when most people get paid around the Globe.
Not a Rant…What do you Think Community? Been playing for awhile and it is a community if it is one of your hobbies.
You maybe referring to the Franz Stigler/ Charles Brown incident (Ye Olde Pub incident).
Here is an old news story about it, along with interviews with both pilots that somebody recorded and uploaded to youtube
To be fair, they basically made the rewards for winning/losing the same.
The idea was to allow bombers to survive. Before, they would get taken down by like 5 12.7mm rounds.
Of course they did the lazy approach of just increasing the HP of the parts. This led to the current issue.
They did nerf the models a bit but i havent tested it since that change. They did annouce more changes to nerf them but they have yet to be released.
