The Mikoyan-Gurevich project 1.44

Yeah that would make sense then, then I wonder what the 20x hardpoints refer to, probably small bombs or something

To be perfectly clear - this panel specifically says “in weapon bays” sure it could be just an error or something, but if we take it literally - all those weapons listed would fit internally.

12x FAB 500 (length 2.4m - diameter 40cm) can easily figure that 12 internal points are made such as 2x6xFAB-500

2 rows of 6 bombs will give a length 5m [with 0.05-0.10-0.05 m gaps] / width : 0.4*6 = 2.4m let’s increase to 3m for gaps of 0.1m]

which could totally be done for MiG 1.44 (a weapon bay of 5m length x 3m width)

AGM like Kh-55 or Kh-61 are only going to fit on external points (as said earlier)
AGM like Kh-29 (3.9m x 1.1m with fins) or Kh-31[mod1] (4.7m x 0.91m with fins) some can be fitted in weapon bay (the maximum would be with internal and external points)

here’s translated sign board (on the image itself for lesss confusion)

Triple rack
(For su-57/su-37/su-75 but idk what other internal bays the mig 1.44 would’ve had because it never had them…)
(Also diagram depicts r-77m because that’s what the modern sukhoi stealth planes use)

where is the internal bay to fit that

Doesn’t exist lmao was only planned.
All ts did irl was fly, no radar, no weapon systems, no ordinance irl

with triple racks, then maybe 6 in the bay, but that’s not 12, as discussed above the weapon bay would not extend long enough, or be large enough to allow for more than 2 racks (as seperation between racks would be about 0.2m minimum, and each racks are already about 1m width each)

i also don’t think the weapon bay would go with a lenght superior to 5m, as the heat produced internally by the 2 saturns AL-41F, can present a risk of ignition for solid rocket boosters

Su-37?

Actual name of su-47

Ah, S-37, then make sense (considering it own bay is reconfigured for PAK FA program)

It didn’t had weapon bay. The one that existing airframe has wasn’t reconfigured, it was created for PAK FA program to test the mechanisation.

not actual, just one of. Project changed several names during development.

Thats a lot of conveniently empty space in the middle of the jet tbh, even for, practically from the get go, a flying lab

I get it, but it is what Sukhoi officially stated, not me. And i think you’d agree that for an actual weapons bay 2 missiles feels a bit… underwhelming.

Yeah, true

it didn’t stop Western media from creating some mad theories about what’s gonna be inside tho

a revolver? like shifting the balance of the aircraft mid-flight?!
those medias,… all talk, but no brain. :D

Well, it works for Tu-160… but that thing is like, humongous.

Simple anti-rotational gyroscopes and counterweighting techniques would stop any issue of a internal revolving bay, though it adds weight and parts to be maintained.
