I think since it was added, but became more well known (used) the last 9-10 months
by a significant amount which is cannot be downplayed or understated. In addition it has a much steep lofting angle which allows for them to go above a decent amount of spaa radar search zone (if they aren’t shot down in time)
All of which only matter once you’re within an spaa effective range (which is around 10-15km). Once you’re out of that range, it’s quite easy to dodge the majority of missiles by either hugging the ground or hiding behind terrain. The with the Hammer is that they require being close to prevent them from being intercepted. The Kh38 allows for you to use them far enough for you to defend and stay safe.
The Kh38MT don’t require a thermal targeting pod as they already have an excellent thermal imager with good zoom. For the MLs, sure but again, it comes down to the reliability of gets hits. How often does a Hammer get intercepted compared to a Kh38.
Yup
considering how much a kh38 brings to the table and how playing defensively can make up for the Su30s shortcoming, that’s a hard disagree for me.
which is a growing threat. That is why this thread exists in the first place. Playing fixed-wing aircraft is incredibly risky in top tier because of these new spaa where as these new heli can easily counter them and even counter SACLOS spaa like the ITO and Pantsir. They cost a lot less in SP and can do just as much or even more damage as it’s fixed wing counterpart.
The reason why people are complaining about the Mi28 only is because many people already have the helicopter and in time, I won’t be surprised if another thread pops for the 64E once a decent amount of people get them.
In the end… we’re comparing nuances and personal preference/experience. I dont fully agree, but I cant dissagree ither.
Yes more or less, as for the second part - sadly no… in my perspective, there is ingrained animosity twards everything russian.
fair
Mainly because Russia has been getting special treatment (in terms of it’s CAS) for the past couple of years. First with the Ka50/2, the pantsir, the SM3, then then the Su34, Su30 (talking about them getting the Kh38), and now the Mi28.
If other nations got a helicopter equivalent to the Ka52s, the Kh38 was introduced when the new spaa were added, and other nations also had LDIRCM helicopters, then yes, I would agree the animosity is unjustified but that’s just not the case.
Ships were a mistake from the get go.
New rules just for ships tells us everything we need to know about Naval.
Pantsir nor any SACLOS SAM is a viable counter to new helicopters.
Everything can easily be overwhelmed by 16 FnF missiles.
after the corrections on the Vihr (you cant spam all 12 at a target in order to suppers the spaa), the Ka-52 was just another heli, nothing more. And after the addition of the israely AH-60 with 16 spike (as mediocer as they ware/are) the Ka’s fall from grase/the meta (more then year ago).
Kh38 was fine (more or less) on the Su25SM3… the problem stared with after the Su34… but that was problem that GJ created, they could have addet IR variants of the Kh29… it would have been strong missile, but not on the level of the 38.
there are two more… and they’re L-DIRCM is even better, but that system is busted in general… i think is was addet (in this state) only to give top tier helis some usefullnes, becouse since the addintion of the new IR SAMs, spawning helicopter was a death sentece. It might get reworked in the future and addet to other/new helicopters.
By consistent you mean eight matches in your F-15E?
okay maybe against AFK but that possible to any ARH even shttest as R-darter/Derby.
maybe irl but in this game?
lol just lol only a fool can’t dodge AMRAAM past 16KM nowadays.
can only speak for GSB but NATO absolutely dominates there at the moment with 9/10 matches won
correction: you can only spam vikhrs in groups meaning you can’t launch a vikhr when one is already half way there. You can still intercept and overwhelm any spaa.
The Ka52 wasn’t just any other heli, it was one of the best helis in the game. Even after FnF helis were added, the ka52 still shined because it was extremely good at being multipurpose. The Ah-60 was the best helicopter overall but it was rarely played thus not changing the meta for a while.
most definitely not. It was added at a time when no top tier spaa can reasonably counter them. The problem was exacerbated when it came to the su34 and then su30. LIke you said an IR variant of the kh29 would’ve been fine but they chose not to.
I’m aware, but I give them more slack because both of those nations had terrible helicopters for the longest times. That wasn’t my point. It’s the fact that the other nations don’t have DIRCM which make them useless in top tier.
I would rather prefer if all nations get similar capabilities because all this does it creates an environment where one nation is objectively better than the other.
I kind of stopped playing top tier naval for that reason, and i’m ready to bet i’m not the only one
(((((((((((((any)))))))))))))
You can overehelm AAs that continue to aim directly at your helicopter for some reason lol.
I don’t think top tier is the only tier of Naval. That mode is DOA for many reasons that simply cannot be changed.
Ships are inherently less interesting to the average guy than planes or tanks, it’s how things work.
Spoken like someone who doesnt play naval.
You dont have to chime in if you dont play a mode, you can just leave the discussion to the people actually playing it
Happened with scharnhorst, and happened again with soyuz, gaijin is notably bad at balancing Naval
I’ll definitely chime in at every available opportunity to bash that DOA mode that’s taking time and resources from something else, much more important.
While I’m not really a naval fan myself, i can at least acknowledge that naval Warfare/History and the ships themselves have far more character than the average tank/aircraft, and that’s also why the topic of paper ships is touchy, because they aren’t held to the same standard as ships that have actually seen combat and have a rich and interesting history (eg. The new HMS Nelson, and Rodney by extension)
Instead of trying to refine that mode and make it enjoyable
That what Incompetence dev would do
(Oh wait Gaijin already is incompetence sorry i forgot)
I dont think people have that much of a problem with unfinished ships per se. The problem is when paper becomes full fiction instead of a realistic plan and its completely unexcusable when said fiction is entirely unbalanced.
Also problem with game too not just that
If you remember old Heli EC you remember how f up it is and it took years for Gaijin to realize their own incompetence and finally come up with other messed up mode for heli
Look like Gaijin run by incompetence after all.
