War Thunder is a realism-oriented game that is fundamentally structured around distinct national factions.
However, at the current stage of the game, there is a serious lack of factions capable of balancing the Western bloc. At present, Russia and China are essentially the only nations that can be considered non-Western major powers. As a result, battles have become highly homogenized, frequently devolving into internal Western-versus-Western conflicts, which significantly reduces gameplay variety and long-term interest.
As the game’s timeline continues to advance, moving steadily toward modern warfare and with Infantry gameplay expected to be introduced in the future, Iran and its associated subtrees clearly represent one of the most suitable options:
Iran belongs to the anti-Western camp.
Iran is a principal adversary of Israel.
War Thunder currently lacks sufficient representation of vehicles from the Middle East. The inclusion of Iranian subtrees would allow for the integration of a substantial portion of Middle Eastern vehicles. In particular, due to decades of prolonged conflict, many armed groups in the region operate highly distinctive, improvised wartime-modified vehicles (DIY or “technicals”). These vehicles do not fit well into any existing tech tree in War Thunder, and the Iranian tech tree would provide the most appropriate home for them.
⠀⠀
As Israel’s primary regional competitor, Iran is also a significant military-industrial power. Some dedicated players have already outlined comprehensive blueprints for a potential Iranian tech tree suitable for inclusion in War Thunder. Therefore, today I would like to propose several countries and factions that could reasonably be introduced as subtrees under the Iranian tech tree:
⠀⠀
(Although the Mujahideen2 🏴☠️ is hostile toward Iran, this does not necessarily prevent it from being included as part of the Iranian tech tree—much like the relationship between Taiwan and China within the game. Moreover, it is not impossible that the Islamic Republic of Iran could, in the future, fragment into multiple localized factional entities, creating opportunities for other forces, such as the Mujahideen2 🏴☠️, to expand their influence.)
⠀⠀
(Just as Canadian vehicles can appear in both the U.S. and British tech trees, Pakistan and North Korea could simultaneously exist within both the Chinese and Iranian tech trees; similarly, Cuba and Venezuela could be shared between the Soviet and Iranian tech trees.)
⠀⠀
This post showcases a ground tree with just Iran that’s quite a bit larger than what we have for Israel so by that metric, Iran could do well enough on its own for ground.
The main issue is the lack of domestic aircraft and modifications.
This post shows what it could look like and does a pretty good job, though it wouldn’t be super strong compared to the other ten trees we have
Hopefully Iran does see it’s vehicles added together in the future
I dont have it bookmarked for whatever reason but it was said by Smin that after the israel feedback, new TTs that cant stand on their own or with as little help as possible wont be introduced.
If a Frankenstein-style stitched North Korea–South Korea tech tree is feasible,
then an Iran–other anti-Western powers tech tree would be even more feasible by comparison.
one is combination of two standing armies that can field full, and whats more important, various lineups at various BR including top tier; as well as having viable top tier aircraft.
the other is
look man, I get the idea behind wanting a TT with “unique” vehicles.
But this wouldnt be a serious TT. These technicals are best left to joke events or event vehicles.
these will never form a viable lineup; or will have to be at ridiculously low BRs to be viable. And Im not interested in fighting Toyota Hilux in my Sherman.
I don’t think gaijin wants to be putting terrorist groups into the game, and also, half their vehicles are milk trucks so the tech tree would only be for rank one
