The Leclerc is in dire need of a buff

You will get the Dutch 2A8 when it’s added and like it!

Ok i’m usually biased towards french or part french vehicles

but it has to be said :
It looks disgusting X)

For real. CAPIN looks terrible with the mockup panels, but without them it’s an ugly duck

So a few months after the implementation of the new internal modules I decided to check the Leclercs’ performance and the results are pretty grim: All of them have hit their all-time low K/D (at least for the time that Statshark first started tracking them)

And its K/D compared to other 12.7 MBTs put it at the same level as the T-80BVM, which is not great considering the average skill difference between France and Russia (and other main 3 nations) players

They’re just sad vehicles at this point.

Since we can’t get gaijin to fix the armor, what could be done instead is this:

  • Leclerc S1 & S2: Stay as they are currently, lower their BR to 12.0
  • Leclerc SXXI & AZUR: Give them SHARD and leave them at the current BR.

That way we’d have a new lineup at 12.0 with 2 Leclerc, Jaguar, Vextra, ItO, Mirage 2000D-R1 and Tigre HAD.

I’m not convinced that SHARD will help all that much, but the 12.7 Leclercs need something to improve them, because currently they’re just in a very bad place. There’s no objective reason to play them as there are plenty of tanks that outperforms them in every way

It is time for the SHARD.

Yeah the current state they’re in 12.7 is just not justified. And all 4 versions being the same BR is not either.

All because the little survivability they had without the basket got ruined now that they do have one, i am completely convinced thats the issue

Why do you all want Shard when the issue is the tankiness ?

Challenger has only around 570mm pen shell but quite strong UFP and good turret armor, Strv122 had same pen value shell but very strong armor and is very very dangerous, T90 and T80 have same rounds but good armor too.

The problem is the armor and mobility.

Mobility + firepower > armor alone.

With the Leclercs playstyle it would really benefit from a boost to it’s firepower (of course any incorrect things about it’s armor should still be fixed/buffed)

In short, Leclerc needs to be reevaluated as a whole. I wonder when Gaijin will realize this… Though I guess it’s more likely that a NASA probe will find life on Mars first, lol.

Dutch Leopard 2A8 is what you will get indigenous tanks like Leclerc, CR2, Type 10, Merkava are all in game designed to be weaker than the M1, T-90/80 and Leopard 2

It needs a better dart and it would be way more fun to play.
The spalling is atrocious.

So the Type 10 is the most dangerous meta tank in the game ?
Oh wait…

Why high mobilty when almost all maps are just face to face in a 3km square map without flanking option ?

Funny that you picked the Type 10 especially…Not the most, but number 4 of all tanks (TKX which is the same like a type 10) at 12.7 for may 2026 sorted by K/D after the Merk4m, Leo2a7HU and Strv122B+. Same with Kill per spawn. It was even just a tiny bit better then the Leo2a7. (well basically equal).

That was before the patch dropped and all the high performers switched to other nations playing the new tanks like M1a3, m1a2Trophy, M1a2 for GB and Leo2RI.

So yes, a tank with much less armor than for example a challenger or T90m can be way more effective. But the average skill of the people that play that nation in top tier also plays a giant role. And mabe having other options in the tech tree for maps where the tank is not that well suited.

Gotta heavily agree with

though. I would side with bigger maps any day of the week, but because how broken and powerful cas is at the moment, especially with how useless most spaas are its maybe not a bad thing that you cant go on 15 minute adventures on a promising flank just to get wiped by a f15 with 20 ir gbus 10 km above you that your spaa cant see, cant shoot at, or cant hit. Hell yeah Type 03 my beloved RP and SL donator. If you would have been introduced for the russian tech tree youd be a menace, or youd get replaced with the next patch, unlucky that youre japanese.

Still, a type 10/TKX can wipe whole teams on city maps, but still, its mobility is far from the best due to the allknowing snail decided to fk its turning performance so it comes to a full stop from max speed during a slight turn. Something no other top mbt in game does afaik. while miracolously accelerating slower than a type 90, while theres videos of such drag races turning out the completely other way with the type 10 outspeeding a type 90 by a lot.

Abrams are arguably the most dangerous meta tanks alongside the 2A7/122 tanks.

The leclerc is never going to be tanky enough for it’s armor to matter, so why buff it in areas that won’t affect it much when you can buff it in an area that will help it more.

And this tells me all I need to know about the player.

well god knows when, they still got them handed over in reality like norwegian or netherlands

exactly. and the bit better mobility doesnt make up for having a much worse round (compared to lots of other top tier darts), with the same reload and basically no armor whether thats the turret front (making sniping not viable) or the hull, compared to lets say an abrams. even a m1a1 aim is better off due to gen 3 commander thermals, better gun depression, better dart, proxy fuze heat fs with the speed of a dart and 50 cals. Now that the leclercs also got a turret basket one of the two redeeming factors (the other being no nato hump) is off the map. Rly, at one point the snail, while we all know how much they hate doing that, have to come to terms about doing something with the minor nations mbts. Just because more people play and pay for the big three doesnt mean 80% of their tanks continously have to be better, only bc minor nations with lower player numbers in general have better players…

Not even this. Minor nations can keep up perfectly fine if Gaijin is just smart with how they buff vehicles.

Up to this point their whole strategy for western tanks has been “oh you are underperforming? here have a 5 second reload”, which is just very short sighted imo.

i mean thats an easier an quicker method to try and balance this whole mess than changing a whole tank model. and easily possible to revert it later. im also not a big fan of that method as such, but i also wouldnt know what other way there was to adjust stuff quickly and without much effort in this ever changing meta. at least it leads to endless discussions on the forums whether hans, jimmy or other generic nationalitys first name can handle and load their ammo in what time. my local popcorn producer sends big thanks.

still i want to hear their reasoning to keep the abrams reload at 5 second as soon as they (finally and well deserved) got the new volumetric turret ring (and possible other model changes?) while numerous other tanks with the exact same reload mechanism and currently much worse performance are stuck at 6 seconds…but im not gonna be surprised if that happens.

well, you could say the same about its ammunition, since 576mm is already enough to deal with pretty much everything at top tier anyway

leclerc needs a buff in both areas: firepower and armor. if you only buff one of them, it will still remain subpar compared to the other MBTs… i wish it at least had a good turret armor

since the abrams (an already very good tank) got buffs to both its firepower and armor, why shouldnt the leclerc (and the other MBTs as well) receive the same treatment?
