It was pointed out by Mulatu that the Ascalon showcased here is an L55 instead of the previous L58 of the ES2024 Leclerc EVO demonstrator. It’s interesting that they downgraded the barrel length to the current Rheinmetal 120mm standard.
In a similar vein, the RCH 155mm tracked version of the Boxer 155mm has a gun that is more similar to the CAESAR being 58 caliber instead of the previous 52 iirc. Looks like there’s some tech transfer/fusion between both KNDS entities ?

Leclercs now got the OFL 120 F2 as a stock round. Is it really weaker than F1 in real life?

As far as I know F2 is just F1 but DU version, in fact it suppose to have little bit less pen according to sources I saw but in game it has noticeably less pen on 90 degrees.
On normal conditions it should have better spalling due to increased weight but in warthunder spalling is based on penetration power and muzzle velocity so F1 still stays best.
They should’ve added SHARD ammunition and make F1 stock instead of taking this route, Leclerc’s are already fragile enough with addition of FCS/Turret Basket and unhistorical armor.

But this is useless info, the devs only care about the LO formula, which doesn’t do anything regarding DU performance (self sharpening, etc)

the souces are % based over old rounds, which were quite innacurate as well, so no not realy.
Specialy with the videos where you see it woble like crazy the accuracy is questiionable

Nope. And as it was said previously, the F1 and F2 share identical specs for the LO formule. Only the density change, but it has next to no impact on penetration with how gaijin models APFSDS
As far as public knowledge goes, the F1 is also mostly correctly modeled.
F2 being better than F1 in game is a dead end, even if I were to bring that parliament source.
feel ya, rheinmetalls direct statement that they use higher density tungsten/alloys for their rounds, gets thrown out the windows

Thats what im saying, it should have 1-2mm less pen than F1 but it has noticeable lower penetration at 90 degrees.
