Well, it’s not a shooting feature. In general, many other MBTs have had this for a long time and it hasn’t caused me any problems.
I don’t think any current MBT has as much of their equipment modeled as critical modules, in such different places. The M1 and leopard 2 have basically one or 2 modules right next to the most armored parts of the turret.
They’re essentially destroyed by almost any penetration anyway.
The FСS blocks fragments and doesn’t create new ones, so it’s essentially a kind of spall liner. And it can be repaired in 5 seconds.
In my memory, the jaguar repair is about 10-15s. If it’s just 5s, it’s more bearable. I still don’t think introducing those modules to the Leclerc when things like the T series don’t have them yet isn’t a great decision (I was also largely against adding it to the M1 and Leo 3 only initially as well)
Excuse me? All T-72, T-80 and T-90 received FCS in the summer.

Ah yes, those mini modules while western ones are gigantic.
Defintily not biased
Maybe because the tank itself is smaller and there is less space in it?
Doesn’t it bother you that there is literally no empty space left in the turret?
“mini modules”
I wouldn’t say that the Abrams’s fire control system is larger, given that the main unit is embedded in the cheek armor and is not located in the space behind the armor where it could receive fragments.
Spoiler

Leclerc’s is really big, I can’t imagine why there are so many boxes with fire control systems there.
He Is talking about THE GODDAMN BASKET
Um, sorry, no. The conversation was about the fire control system.
Nvm i misread the covo, my bad
As far as I know those FCS components are not yet activated, while the power components on other vehicles such as the m1 and leopard are activated (ie, destroying them actually makes them inoperative).
Or I missed something in an update (they definitely were not when introduced)
On all mbts they currently only disable nvd/tvd, stabilizers, laser rangefinder (maybe correlation/optical rangefinders too, idk) and tracking (IRST).
On most (there are like 1-3 exceptions) light tanks,TD’s and SPAA’s they basically disable everything (aiming, firing).
Where are you coming up with this nonsense? Have you even fired at these tanks?
Everything works the same for everyone. For the MBT, the FCS disables the thermal imager, stabilizer, and laser rangefinder.
Could you tell me which ones?
on BMPT / BMPT-72 it doesnt disable firing, on desert warrior (that one sadmobile ifv in the uk tree) and BTR-82AT it only disables stab/lrf/nvd (according to module description).
probably a few other ones aswell but I honestly cant remember all of them.
Fuel Tanks…
Same survivability benefit for the Type 90s, Type 10s, ZTZs, and the T-Series tanks.
It’s not the same.
An internal fuel tank is good when there’s no ammunition or critical modules behind it.
Then, penetrating it guarantees protection for the crew from shrapnel.
But when there are critical modules (like on the T-series or now on the Leclerc), that’s a disadvantage. Because even without fragments, the projectile has a high chance of damaging the ammunition in the case of the T-series and the power electronics in the case of the Leclerc
I would agree with you if it wasn’t the case that a good number of shots go through gaps in the ammo carousel and only takes out the autoloader and engine.
Not to mention shots targeting both turret crews resulting in only one crew member killed.
It does not disable firing, the xray-text is inaccurate.
