Considering that we have brochures and excellent books on Leclercs, the Russian magazine TANKOMASTER (which, by the way, is about assembling vehicle models) is obviously a terrible source.
Didn’t the developer later respond that they’d conducted research and found no spall liner?
If you think the report contains good evidence, you’re mistaken.
Oh, not saying they’re great, but the correspondance mulatu mentionned makes me think, one day they might be able to find nice sources on this, this is not today though. :)
The proofs for the Leclerc spall liner are kinda… all over the place. In one hand, the supplier for such armor does install spall liner on the VBCI (pending report), and the Leclerc visibly has the same liner as the VBCI, but this is a pretty weak link. For now, there’s no acceptable report for the small liner for the Leclerc (VBCI one is still pending AFAIK).
Armor for the Leclerc hasn’t had an accepted report for a while, and I believe most older reports have been closed for one reason or the other. It’s a bit of a pain to report anything in the Leclerc. There’s missing links at several steps of the tank development
The white liner on the inside of the tank that’s served as matting could potentially be a spall liner, as the manufacturer that makes liners for the Leclerc produced a spall liner of similar look. But that’s a very weak link for that
Mulatu has mostly stopped reporting. I don’t think we’ll see any meaningful report for the Leclerc anytime soon (from him). It’s just too much of a hassle.
