I don’t want to rush to conclussions considering not all of the “leak” lists are worth mentioning, but I will say if this were to be true it would be very in character for Gaijin to simply add Leopards as a band-aid “fix” for top tier France ground instead of fixing anything related to the Leclercs.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t be happy to see Benelux Leopards come to the French TT, but I would absolutely HATE for them to be introduced in a way that makes them the primary vehicle or “best/most meta” tank of French top tier while making all of the Leclercs completely irrelevant.
If you add Benelux Leopards with the current state of the Leclercs, that’s exactly what will happen.
You’ll get a repeat similair to Italy’s Hungarian Leopard being the best tank of the lineup because all of the Ariete’s are over BR’d and modeled terribly.
I’ve started to pick up and enjoy War Thunder again, but only in the mid-tiers like France’s 7.7 lineup (my absolute favorite); top tier is a whole other mess that I would rather not touch anytime soon.
We all know why. Why would Gaijin devout any amount of resources to making a minor countries MBTs good when instead they can pay an intern in vodka bottles to Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V the leopards a few times.
This is why I’m not looking forward to 2A5NL and 2A6NL at all…
If I wanted to play 2A5s and 2A6s, I would just play Germany, lol. (Or Sweden, which has even better ones).
If at least the NL variants were different in ANY way, even just thermals, I would actually be happy; but apparently they are just identical to the German ones.
It takes longer to develop tanks than to fix tanks.
So these were coming irrelevant of the fixing status of Leclerc…
It’s nice that 10.7 France is starting a lineup though.
France ground really ends at 8.7 for me in terms of random battles.
I play 12.0 but only to spade.
France is an air RB tech tree for me primarily because there are so few tanks in War Thunder’s top end I actually want to play in random battles consistently.
Just had one of my best ground matches of all time in Leclerc. It’s handling just feels right.
It is survivable enough, while reloading faster than most as well as beign abel to move faster than most.
Often you are still able to fire after takign a hit. Combined with the constant reload rate that is a noticeable advantage in game.
Not to say I would not glad for any realistic improvements of course but Leclerc is one of the best MBTs in game.
Germany preferrably used 6th - 8th batch hulls with C-Tech for the KWS 2 (2A5 and 2A6 upgrades) but the dutch never made any of those. The last Leo 2NL was delivered in 1986, at least 2 years before C-Tech got implemented. The 2A6FIN, which is a 2A6NL, still has overperforming hull armour ingame. I hope they fix it since they’re working on the 2A6NL anyways.
Leopard2a6 deliveries started in 2000 and every Leopard who has been upgraded to 2A5-A6 standart recieved reinforced hull armor cause it was one of the requirements for those models.
So unless you have exact documents that proves your claim i’ll take that as wrong.
The 2A6NLs were upgraded 2A5NLs, which in turn were upgraded 2A4NLs. Unless you have proof that the KWS 2 included hull armour upgrades, all 2A5/6NLs had B-Tech hull armour.
