The Leclerc is in dire need of a buff

New reply.

It shouldn’t be hard to find, since galix is used in every leclerc as of right now but if one of you guys can help me find a specific part that states it i think it would be better

Leclerc AZUR might not have been mounted with it as it was a demonstrator just for the kit and not to be sent into actual battle

…Because that’s not what I wanted to highlight. I highlighted the orange light and the laser designation system near the MG port to show that it was exercise hardware, I saw the LWS just fine.

As I said, that probe is at the rear of the turret, it’s in the same place as the usual Leclerc:

You can see it on any pictures (including yours) of a Leclerc

Well, you mentionned the Ariete which we know has a LWS:

It looks exactly the same as the one found on the Leclerc AZUR. There’s no doubt to me that it’s a 360 degrees LWS.

The ariete have two probes one is for metereological reasons one is the 360 degrees lws as its stated in the details

The one on the leclerc its nowhere near similar but its similar to the metereological one

Another similar lws system on merkavas

Correct me if im wrong but Galix system was equipped on every leclerc right?

There’s absolutely no reason to have two ambiant sensors. Also, hard disagree on it looking nothing like a LWS:

You can clearly see at least 3 receivers on the upper ring.

In that case if you look at the one in game its not modeled correctly then because in game its modeled as a probe finded on the ariete so it needs to be remodelled

Here is how it looks in game
image

In the case you are right it means that every leclerc supports it since the probe its the same and has not been changed which means every leclerc should have lws

Correct me if im wrong

You need to read my posts better. I said before that the probe at the rear of the turret is the wind and pressure sensor, it is found on every Leclerc.

The probe that’s present only on the AZUR near the commander’s hatch is the LWS.

Readed better, sorry
In that case i think we can for sure get lws added to the azur. Do we have a source that galix has been used on the azur? ( we know it is but i would like to get a writted sourse or anything ). ( look at the bug report )

Not sure abot the Galix integration, but I added all the pictures posted above in the bug report. Hopefully it’ll help.

Updated, Leclerc S2 use GALIX made by Lacroix and the first iteration of AZUR should be based on the Leclerc S2 so i think what i writed should be reasonable but if someone does have a source that clearly states that it would be better. Although AZUR is an armor kit so most of the thing of the S2 are kept, so i think that is more than enough. What do you think?

Poking around on the Lacroix site, I found this:

For the others, here is the translation:

Multi-band masking - Protective ammunition
Vehicle masking with an opacifying effect, effective in the visible and infrared ranges (thermal cameras, lasers, missile homing heads…).

Important points to remember >

visible and infrared fields (thermal cameras, lasers, missile seekers…).
Is he referring to the LWS?

There is also this, which I think confirms the LWS:

For combat vehicles, in the event of an immediate threat that leaves no time for personnel to act, a fully automated version is offered thanks to sensors distributed across the platform, including laser warning sensors.

EDIT : On the same site I also find this:
GALIX has been selected by Sweden and installed on the Stridsvagn 122 main battle tank (a derivative of the Leopard 2 platform) and CV 90 VBCIs. GALIX launchers also equip the wheeled Centauro 8x8 and Ariete tanks. The BMP3, G6, M113 and M109 have been updated to accommodate GALIX, and the latter has been installed on new models of RG 31 and NIMR vehicles in the UAE.

Yes, i made a report about them too.
This is a leclerc post so lets keep the topic if possible. Those are the two lws leclerc issues active right now

Update @Mobius_Einherjar got a reply

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/2QPU8eJZaDIP

"Unfortunately, we cannot accept only images for the functionality of a vehicle in the game. Images can be used in case of a visual model issue or similar.
We at least need documentation on the use of GALIX on the Leclerc series, additionally for AZUR.

The report will be closed in 48H unless the required information is provided. If new material is found, a new report should be opened."

What does it even means? Galix is obvious used by leclercs and azur is not a standalone vehicle but its a leclerc s2 base.

Someone can help me give a reply because right now i don’t know what to say if not even the producer of galix, lacroix website is enough, even a minimal documentation that state the use of galix on leclercs should be enough.

There seem to be two types of laser receivers.
The kind seen on Type 10 scattered around the turret.
And the kind seen on Ariete & Italy’s Leopard 1A5, the pole that looks like the air speed tube on modern MBTs for FCS calculations.

From the images shown thus far of Leclerc, there’s a mix of both, there’s even an image of what looks liked a moved air speed tube, and it’s impossible to tell which Leclerc is which variant, or even if they’re production or testing.

I dont know a lot about this stuff but arent those sensors part of the MILES system?

Azur does have a standalone lws receiver which is on the left of the commander sight and lacroix ( manufacter of galix, used by leclercs ) that galix provide a lws system

from this link : Lacroix Defense - Land Solutions - Soft-Kill Self Protection
I can read that Galix can provide LWS slaved smoke screens, but also stand alone smoke screen, deployed manually, at up to 24 smoke launchers. That does sound a lot like what the Leclercs are using. Are. you certain that possessing a Galix system is confirmation of the early leclercs (until S3) having these systems ?
Edit : I see that for a 24 system it is automatic, never mind

From NEXTER’s website in 2007:

“Preparing for the future
The process of ensuring the operational readiness of the Leclerc system continued in 2006. The aim is to equip the tank with additional capabilities to enable it to carry out specific missions, particularly in urban areas, and to integrate new battlefield digitisation concepts such as the BOA. The first concrete result of this thinking was the production in 2006 of a demonstrator called the AZUR® kit, consisting of a set of removable modules fitted to a production Leclerc tank. This demonstrator was successfully presented at Eurosatory. It is being evaluated at Sissonne from 27 November to 8 December 2006.”
