I got the most pissed at gaijin because I could not be assed to play 2 leclercs with stock heat so I skipped the S2 even though it was the fastest way to get an actual 12.0 lineup. But then when I was 50k away from the SXXI they moved them all up and gave them stock darts. I was so pissed because I played so many games with only 1 leclerc while I could have had the S2 researched twice and actually had a lineup.
We should be very careful with that because modern composite armor modules aren´t made up of a homogeneus material and for most tanks we don´t know how the internal geometry is laid out.
In other words, variations of impact angle across the frontal arc may not have much difference in armor protection. Look at T-72/90 turret NERA, the closer the impact is to frontal 90 degrees, the projectile goes through more reflective plates and more steel LOS (front and back plate), and the closer the impact is to the side 30 deg arc, it goes through less LOS steel and fewer reflective plates but at more accute angles. In other words, in this well known internal array the internal layout compensates the variations of impact angle across the frontal arc while maintaining a fairly constant protection performance. Is this the case with all tanks? Very hard to know for sure.
This to be honest, the leclerc overall is an excellent tank I thoroughly enjoyed playing through all of them, could it be better probably will it get better…maybe, do I want more……absolutely !!!
At the moment in game every top tier tank is good unless you get hit. And if we consider this then the Leclerc is very good vehicle. It has a 5sec reload with autoloader whitch is very good, modility is one of the best at top tier for MBT’s, the aiming is comfortable, survivability is random but at top tier it’s fine (i’m trying to say that if you get hit in any tank you will die, get savere damage and then die or you will survive). Considering this i would say that Leclerc is really good and one of the best MBT’s in game even with its innacurate armor

The Leo 2A7 and cie have very strong turrets, and at distance (1, 2km) the dispersion of the gun doesn’t always allow for precision shots in the breach when it’s hull down. Same applies for the T80BVM/T90M, especially when you have sub 600mm of pen.
During brawls, Top tier T series and Leo 2 also have decent hull armor, being pénétrable only in the LFP, which doesn’t always one shots.
On the other side of the spectrum, you have the Ariete, the Leclerc and many others that can be shot throughout most of the turret and have extremely weak upper front plates, meaning it’s very easy to shot center of mass and kill the entire crew.
On a somewhat different but similar subject, one thing that I also don’t get is how the side armor ERA of the T series can deflect APFSDS at an angle while ERA/NERA of other nations, being much, much thicker, don’t do shit
However I can note that the addition of the full turret basket model has evened the playing field somewhat by making the leopard less survivable if it survives a lower front plate shot
You are tottaly right, in my message i meant a bit another point and if we are talking about armor at top tier i would say that only Germany, USSR and maybe USA have MBT’s with some armor. All ather nations have 50/50 armor on MBT’s in war thunder. Still, my point is that at top tier who had aimed and shotted first–>wins and kills another. But im absolutely agreed with your opinion ( ^ω^ )
LFP doesnt always oneshot but it heavily cripples them, and with an autoloader you can follow up and kill it. If you shoot the LFP on a leo/strv122/abrams you’ll get the driver and turret cage, meaning he cant do anything to you other than wait for his death. It’s extremely effective and easy to hit because NATO LFPs are so huge, give it a try you won’t fear any leopard anymore
Joke’s on you it actually has 1° more gun depression than the t80s ;-)
But yeah its only saving grace is its armor, which is much harder to use in the playstyle in which russian ufp armor shines (bumrush to quickly take control of large and important parts of the map and force enemies to miss snapshots) because of worse mobility, especially acceleration, max forward speed and reverse, but also the turning speed is almost nonexistent once u had to full stop) and worse reload and is also very hard to use as a sniper, more static and defensive tank due to 0 reverse speed.
I still somehow like it and considering k/d i think its my best russian top/high tier tank, but thats probably because you have to play it much slower and careful than the t80s which then also means less likely for high risk/high reward outcomes and a lot of times much lower match influence. I still think it compliments the russian top tier lineup quite nicely to sort of lock down the map in case and after the guys on the initial pushes fail or get stuck and its advantages are mainly its stabilized gen 3 commander thermals, laserwarning system and good armor.
Good question. I’m actually not sure. Also why grant the t80 such a generous gift but not the t90?
Im just goning by the statcards and in game feeling, but it was more of a joke, i hope that came across since 1° difference really is negligible. Considering suspension shots probably give way more depression than 1 or two degrees and are way more reliable on the t80s with their reverse gear id say it doesnt matter at all
