It’s relatively slow, it is not maneuvrable and guns are bad. Climb is fun, but it won’t fix the problems,
I did not find Ki-83 to be enjoyable to play. Truth be told, the entire BR bracket is difficult for me because of 3U in downtier and P-51H and BI in uptier. Everything else is kinda manageable, though I absolutely despise (w)Hornet players who will just climb over you and miss BnZ passes at speed so high there’s no chance to reverse with German potato guns.

But eh, I agree for the most part. There’s nothing spectacular about the Ki-83 in the long term. It’s almost sad to fight, even when I play twin-engines. I feel almost no threat with the 83 unless it’s squadded up.
The MEC is the problem man I swear. Its the nuclear engines it has. It’s faster than any of the spits even the LF.
The 30mm’s were a bit unreliable for me, but 8/10 they did their job well.
Also there is NO WAY it’s not maneuverable. It’s atleast on par with the 38K for a bit lmao, and more maneuverable than the J5N1 imo.

To me it felt like a goddamn boat. But I’m used to dogfighting vs Yak-3U and P-51H and Mk XVIII/22 Spitfires so my perception of good maneuvrability may be a bit skewed.
And guns - in the era of real sh*tter, 30mm are barely any better than 20mm.
