they’re not exactly cruise missiles though nor are they comparable here and ofcourse their range is reduced as no defense exists against them
for the kh-38 we can imagine it as a ballistic dependant missile whereas cruise missiles get their huge range from a long firing motor. you can be low and slow and it will still do the 100km or whatever their intended range is or get near it while if you want max range from these non cruise missiles you have to get high and fast and risk yourself
and like i said, no defense exists against them. if they had even higher range this game would be just ridiculous. i don’t expect missile ranges to be extended further until cruise missiles are introduced.
the agm-84 really outmatches the kh-38. you don’t need to expose yourself in such a dangerous way
the way they reach their range should be taken into account
one could speculate whether they get datalink control or not. if they’re added after we get something like patriots and harms and the equivalents then maybe.
guess we will see what happens
with the 300lb warhead yes.
G uses the 300lb
D 125lb IIRC
Yes, but it is not manual. In this book you also can find F-14 with HARMs. Hellfires on A-10
Spoiler
At least they must fly 10km when fired from heli. In game it cant fly 5-6km when fired from AV-8B in hover mode.
Actually, I’ve always figured the range was a game limiation. In SB for example, aircraft dont render in on a Tpod past a certain range (about 20-30km), really annoying, but figured the 20km and now 30km was just a game limiation that had nothing to do with balance.
By the fact that you can outrange most top tier SPAA at 10km, if there reasoning was increasing it to 30km was balance, then I really dont think they know the meaning of the word.
Last I knew the hellfires A-10 integration didn’t go through cause the A-10 was too fast to get a reliable lock with the 114 seeker.
Also A-10 haven’t laser designator, so it useless. But this book as i said bad.
we have both warheads in game AGM-65A/B/D/H is 125lb and AGM-65E/F/G is 300lb
A lot of ground lasing or buddy lasing was a common thing for the time.
Thank you
yes as those integrations were planned and ongoing at the time
get some email host with a legitimate sounding name and email ktrv about the kh-38mt
last time a while back it was like 20km, though im not sure if thats a game limitation, or if its based on the pod being used. We have way better ones since I remember playing with range limits. I think I was testing KH29TD on su39, remember trying to see if it actually hit anything at the stated 30km range and finding out nothing rendered past like 20km.
If its still like that than range on missiles is kinda a pointless stat and velocity trumps everything.
It was changed last major update. Was 20km prior now its 30km
I mostly agree. Though a missile with good range usually will also have good sustained speed at the shorter ranges.
I.E Brimstone 2 should be much faster at shorter ranges
We have a whole RU community, pretty surprised this discussion didnt spill over to the .ru forums, searching x-38 they didnt really talk much about it.
It did. The spill over was posted early on in the discussion but even then it didn’t go anywhere.
still is
With the same results as over here I am certain.
SALH is quite strong irl though. That’s why Kh-38ML works, have an Orlan drone paint and then launch at standoff distance
Yeah… No arguments here that’s why laser guided ordnance is as popular as it is. What does this have to do with not even the RU forum finding evidence?
