No it has a 3rd gen thermal with 25x zoom. While the target lock is set the same across the board. Other missiles preform a much less favorable from the ranges the 38MT can enjoy.
difference is that its mach 2 unlike every other missile at that br oh and has IOG meaning even if it loses lock it will still most likely hit which even with a near miss will kill due it its massive HE warhead
but no do keep trying to say its balanced and that russia should keep a fantasy missile
Using single games to demonstrate if something is balanced or not is always a terrible argument. I count 11 potential Kh-38MT kills by your team. Here’s one of the better Rafale games I had:
Srsly u want to viable this for a missile xD?
He’s posting SB battle results
You’re posting RB battle results
It’s generally much easier to do CAS in ground RB than it is in ground SB
Since In RB you have markers for friendly tanks and you can use third person view and mouse aim
There is really no contest between Kh-38MT and AASM
Kh-38MT is much faster and has more energy which means:
1- Less chance of losing track by enemies passing behind obstacles or going into cover (intentionally or as is usually the case, unintentionally)
2- Less chance of target getting killed by other tanks on the ground or other friendly aircrafts and you ending up with a wasted missile (well unless they also have Kh-38 and launch before you)
3- It can loft more and dive from "more steep’ trajectories, making it harder for the SPAA to intercept it, and the fact that the best SPAA is on the red side doesn’t help it either; Overall I rarely if ever see Kh-38s getting intercepted by the SPAA.
4- It can maneuver more sharply allowing for better “off-boresight” capability than AASM, and allowing for better Pk against aerial targets such as aircrafts and helicopters.
Gr4 has a dozen+ Brimstones to use as well to oversaturate any AA.
Gr4 in it’s current state is definitely not a worse package overall than SM3.
IOG isn’t really anything new and limited to 38MT.
@Thenighthunter
Launching missiles outside the range of your target lock is simply not viable, especially if you have limited amount of them.
So saying they are “20km missiles” is borderline fake advertisement.
Do you even play the game ?
I doubt it judging by your profile.
Until the IR PGMs came along the 38MT was the only IR AGM with IOG. Currently only the 38MT, IR PGMs and AASM have IR + IOG. Thats 3/10 Nations with access to IR + IOG AGMs.
Pretending its a universal thing/not significant is just wrong. IR Missiles without IOG self-destruct if they loose lock, those with still have a chance to hit
Missed that, my bad. Can’t talk about SIM, I have no experience in the mode.
There’s also no contest between the Rafale and the Su-30SM. You trade a weaker but still incredibly potent AGM for a more capable platform to fire them from. I honestly don’t see the “unbalance”. I have a higher match impact (and fun) playing the Rafale.
We would be in for a wild ride if we wanted to give each nation the same things across the BRs.
The “where our IR + IOG” request could branch out into seemingly endless requests across the game, which is why asymmetrical balancing exists.
Yes, but the point is that the Kh-38MT seems to be more of a proposal at this point
Plus even if we accept that it exists or that the marketing material is enough for the missile’s existence, there’s still no proof of Su-30SM carrying it or being compatible with it …
Plus there are other advantages that Su-30SM has
Such as more missiles, longer range missiles and not facing Pantsir …
Watch out, many posters here think that missiles aren’t attached to planes and are an entity of their own, which obviously isn’t true.
what happened to giving everyone m247 equivalents?
or do you not see the double standard there?
The only double standard here is complaining about 38MT and the fact not all nations have the equivalent to it, all the while not caring about other nations not having M247 equivalents.
it’s not a double standard, it’s called being on topic
If you want to complain about M247 and its absence in other trees, you can make a thread on your own
Yes it is when you aren’t complaining about similar cases found somewhere else. It’s even worse when you try to sweep that under the rug as it’s involving a non-USSR nation.
The post I replied to, as well as hundred of others, was about “balancing” though. I agree that it would be better if those posts, as well as all the off topic complaints and whatnot, were removed, but moderation probably wouldn’t be able to keep up with that. So I thought might as well reply to one of them instad of leaving it up completely uncontested.
Having to read through 3700 posts, with >90% being off topic garbage, makes it quite hard and time consuming to figure out the actual state of the discussion about how “real” the Kh-38MT is.
Longer range missiles are mostly irrelevant for GRB, I’ve barely ever ran out of the six missiles when flying CAP and the Pantsir is usually only a problem if you don’t really know what you’re doing in any of the capable CAS jets.
