The Kh-38MT may not actually exist

Likely the same principle as a mirror telescope, its not stupid at all

Lots of sensors use mirrors to help focus light, it’s very common.

This is using mirrors.

Or radio dishes. What do you think those are? They’re mirrors for radio waves to reflect and focus them into the sensor.

Everyone was wrong about what we thought was the seeker, the head is still a SALH head and the pictures he posted actually helped prove that, beyond the fact were discussing what we think the seeker is from the looks of it when the article discussing the missile that was exhibited clearly states it to be a SALH seeker

Sorry, catching up, but yeah thats still not an IIR lens, it looks like what i assume is a mirror seen on the MAKS 2011 pic he provided

Except that compared to the other modern Russian LG munitions like kab-250LG that is way too shallow to be a laser seeker.

Kab-250LG-E from JanesIntel twitter:

Spoiler

None of that plaque states its a thermal seeker or mentions MTE?

I don’t think it does. The thing you mark here as a mirror:

Looks to me to be just a green PCB (The red “dots” are likely components of some kind). and just below what you marked is a large lens to focus light coming in, likely to something in the center of the PCB.

Here is a different angle:

This literally ment nothing. All it points to is the Missile to be a modular 38 for Export.

MT, does it track emissivity or reflectivity? Scene matching or heat tracking. That sort of stuff.

It also doesn’t mention laser guidance either. I believe this is due to the missile being modular, which is why all of the designations read “Kh-38ME”

so you are saying the kh 38mt is fake and should be removed but the kh38mtE exists.
i think i rater stick with the current

Could be right on that point 🧐

That being said, the person who took the image stated it to be an SALH seeker, and we’re trying to determine what kind of seeker it is based on a few pictures with no definitive features.

No? Im saying MT/MTE both likely didnt exist.

NGL from that angle that doesn’t look like a lense.

Yeah i wasnt saying it did there, I was just saying that him posting the plaque as proof its an MTE doesnt prove anything

Sure, but ive now also been proven wrong about it being a mirror, and someone pointed out modern russian laser seekers also have lenses, so were back at square 1 on that
KAB-250LG-E: (definitively a laser homing head, and definitly a lense)

The seeker we’re all arguing over was stated to be a SALH seeker, and it “habing a lense” isnt proof of it not being a laser seeker, as seen with the Kab250LG-E above

What I’m saying is in this photo that looks more like a bracket rather than a round lense.

no he pointed out to you that modern laser seekers look completly different

well i hope for gaijin they find the evidence rater quickly the most op missile war thunder has ever seen being a fantasy? would be pretty hard evidence for Russian bias given how often they dismiss evidence on western equipment (f111c full bomb load has an example)
