This is a rough image explaining this particular situation. The missile is almost going parallel to the plane which makes it look more towards the front of the plane and consequently ‘ignores’ flares, because they are simply not in the seeker. This is possible with a lot of missiles. It is more of a situation thing rather than a missile thing.
I recommend looking at the replay using the sensor view to see where the seeker is actually looking.

The kfir canard wins any low speed fight or scissors against it
It does not have a pulse dopple radar
You have little clue what you’re talking about and likely have little to complain so much when the issue at hand is only that the J7D and J7E should both move up by a single br step.

The f5a and c both shoot flares directly behind them so if the missile is flying towards the target it would proxy on the f5 before it even saw the flares, theres no reason to act like its because of some black magic

Honestly, seeing J-7D complain posts from Some USA mains are always funny.
They always claim that J-7D should be nerfed. (Itself might be the truth. J-7D is overperforming and everyone knows it.)
However, the reasoning behind it is often flawed, rendering the claim overly weak.
claming PL-5B/PL-7 as
hypersonic flare ignoring missiles
as an example.
Also, they underrate American jets, which fight against J-7D, drastically. :/
Yes, J-7D is a problem, and it is ruining the lobby.
But blaming J-7D as the only reason for ‘ruined 9.7-10.7BR’ is truly diabolical.
Especially when American jets like F-5/F-8 also contribute to ruining the lobby.
As a joke, this topic sounds like another American bias coping post to me.

Planes with the J-79 engines are more easy to kill with an IR missile bc of the engine having more thrust, the flares are right behind the afterburner, killing people on the head on with R-60M are easy bc of the 5º of FoV of the seeker, when you drop flares, the missile is looking at literally both, your plane and the flares, therefore going in a strait line, on the video you sent, if the F-104 had any idea of how to play, he would have turn off the afterburner for half a second to lower the engine power and pop 1 flare, the R-60M would have missed

Im from New Zealand, so I play on SA servers. Im trying to grind France with the NF-5A and the J-7D spam is insane. China is getting put on both teams and everyone is using the J-7D. Most matches are pretty much unplayable.
