All of the players that are playing PvE-only for the event skew average awards so that they are much higher than normal players achieve which causes Gaijin to nerf them in order to take exploitative gameplay into account.
The end result is that regular sim players just suffer with worse rewards because the game mode is just used as a resource farm.
PvE lobbies are not that common though. Yeah, a little more common during the event, but i’d still wager most are not . Regardless though a vast majority of people in ASB are usually playing the PvE objectives regardless of “lobby type”. The amount PvE specific lobbies are affecting things is minimal.
even in a “regular” match, I’d still be doing 99% PvE most of the time anyway, and a lot of other players are usually playing Hybrid, but more often than not, are favouring PvE activities because it provided dramatically better rewards than PvP with far less risk.
Currently during event most rooms are made up of players or bots that are just mindlessly flying from their runway to the nearest spot to bomb in order to grind the event score.
Bots are irrelevant to this discussion. They should have been banned and dealt with long ago, but gaijin refuses to acknowledge that as a problem,
Yeah… but not in PvE ONLY lobbies, where someone has specifically said “Anyone want to do a PvE only lobby?”
Which is what this topic is about.
Not removing PvE from SB. that would just be stupid. Unless you are saying that im suppose to ONLY be dogfighting in the Tornado Gr1 and that I should be banned for bombing bases?
and a vast majority of lobbies in my experience are not like that, at least not in EC8/9, I cant comment below that and only quiet lobbies, like less than 3 or 4 per side. When it gets busier, PvP happens regardless.
But yeah, 80% of players probably do engage in PvE in SB, because SB is the only gamemode where you can actually engage in A2G without having to deal with the BS that is GRB. If you want to bomb bases or perform CAS “properly” then SB is the only place to do it.
Combined with the fact that the economy for SB is totally warped, and heavily favours PvE activities, then why would you bother. Tornado F3 is almost impossible to break even, not too mention turn a profit without playing super defensively. Jets like Phantom or Harriers I almost always run bombs to dump on targets during sorties and will take the scenic route back to base keeping an eye out for PvP targets, but if i find none, then I land and go on another bombing run. and in Jets like the Jaguar or Tornado Gr1. PvP is NOT an option. I will activiely avoid enemy players where ever I can, unless I can ambush them, which is rare.
This is in my opinion where the issue begins. Not in people doing PvE.
A casual Ceasefire in a lobby where everyone was already going to do PvE stuff anyway makes no difference at all. But I have 0 issue with people doing PvP when they join. If people start to get moody about it. then I’d swap into a jet with PvP capabilities. I usually have one in my line-up.
But that i think is the key difference. Players cooperating, even if it violates the TOS is a nice change of pace, and harms basically no one. Botters and people being bullies is far worse, and I would rather Gaijin spends their time dealing with that first
And you know what happens when it gets busier and PvP starts to happen? All the PvEers complain in chat and then they cash out and leave the game to find a new lobby where they can PvE.
Again, what do you want gaijin to do. Ban them for doing PvE? Remove PvE rewards from SB? Lock them so they cant join a new match until the current one has ended?
Activity time requires you to… well… be active. Dumping bombs on a base is an easy way to do that. To get the same kind of reward in PvP actions, you’d need to kill 2 or 3 people I think it is, without dying, an inherrently HARD thing to do, especially in comparison to PvE actions like base bombing with very little risk.
I’d say the better solution to banning or removing PvE. is to prehaps fix PvP acitivities. 1/3 of the reason why I rarely fly the Tornado F3 currently is because with NO A2G weapons, maintaining more than a minimal Activitiy time is really really hard.
SHar FA2 hopefully will have some bombs as an option (I hope/I think it can carry them at least) so whilst im hunting enemy players, I wont be basically making absolutely no SLs at all whilst flying around look for enemy air targets.
Yeah its annoying when a lobby just ends because everyone leaves. but if one side is dominating in PvP, then that will happen anyway.
Another point to add is that some players enjoy playing CAS and have primarily CAS lineups at high EC, but when pvp player come around see a frogfoot and constantly hang around to seal club then it’s obvious the CAS player will leave.
When I fly the A10 and get jumped by another attacker it’s fine but if a mig 21 or 29 decide they want constant easy kills then yeah I’ll dip no problem, especially when CAS calls for support so they can get a fighting chance and get ignored by their team.
As you know prop doesn’t really have this problem compared to jets, I can easily play my skyraider and have a great time the entire match even if I get jumped because players in prop will help each other more than I see in jet.
Yeah, Im a Britain main. I can’t stand the Phantoms anymore, so I play a lot of Jagaurs, Harriers and the Torando Gr1. All mainly CAS. Tornado F3 is over BRed currently and waiting for AMRAAM to be even slightly competitive, but its almost impossible to turn a profit either way. Sea Harrier FRS1 would be really good, but is unfinished, so will play it when it is finished.
PvP really isnt much of an option for Britain top tier currently. I want to get into lower tier props, but I havent had the time or motivation to learn. Without SAS mode, i’ve got a lot to learn. But I enjoy the jets anyway.
But yeah. If I keep just getting spawn killed by a Mig-29 when I want to go dump bombs on targets in the Torando Gr1, I aint sticking around.
I actually enjoy the Torando Gr1. I find it quite interesting to fly. Though Wish it was finished. Been tempted by the MFG just for a non-“NATO” nation to have for ASB. Though yeah, the Koromans look really bad, im surprised they even bothered, a very niche weapon
Funny enough they aren’t supposed to be as bad as they are but the way they are modeled sends them to the radar dish which doesn’t really do much to a fat ass boat. I feel if they added a deviation to strike towards the water line like they’re meant to they’d be much better even with the tracking issues.
You should try to get into props more, I find them much more enjoyable than jets, especially when I am facing MiG-29s in my Phantom, in props it’s a much more leisurely experience, you can go to altitude without worrying about R-27ERs or AIM-7s, you can engage in PVE easier, as you can shake someone off you easily just by flatspinning, recover, blast em out the sky.
genuinely hate that, don’t know why EO can’t lock onto location like they can IRL, killing costal guns and bunkers might actually be doable if it worked.
Yeah, Its just learning it. Last time I took out a spit, I spent my entire time fighting to keep the thing flying in a straight line. I need to spend a good couple of hours fine tuning my control set up for it and then I just need to practice. Learn fresh. I would really enjoy the Spits and It would probably help me improve at top tier too. But I just dont have the patiences for it currently.
But im happy with my base bombing for now in the Gr1 until the Typhoon gets added and then I’ll be in that no matter what. Even if its DOA.
I recommend setting up a separate control scheme for prop and dear god set up trim settings it makes flying 100x easier when you get to cruising speeds. Otherwise you are fighting your plane the entire time trying not to spin out.
