And thats about it, nothing else thats not armor made the Merkava heavier. And the mine protection kit is not included in the overall weight of the merkava because its usually not there. Im a merkava gunner and i can tell we install the kit Only before specific combat operations.
Can I ask why you guys even exist? Serious question.
You go to this huge length to recreate a vehicle in perfect detail, pawing over documents, using time and money basing a vehicle on fact or as much fact as you can ascertain, getting armour right, ammo correct etc. etc and what happens to it in game?
It faces vehicles it would never have faced historically, ones which make that perfectly recreated armour totally redundant and ineffective, on a map that it would never have been on at any point in history with two or random nations scrapping over a red or blue marker. You have WW2 tanks facing 80s vehicles.
Do you work hard to make correct models so somebody else at Gaijin can make you look an idiot? I mean have you ever stopped to think about it?
Why be slaves to total historical detail only to see your work end up as total fantasy.
Is this game Historical? Yes? No? Is it realistic? Yes? No? Does anybody in the War Thunder camp even know?
Just asking, I find elements of this game baffling. Why not ask the technical moderator on the official forum? Why create so many half empty tech trees anyway for minor nations when you must have known you would struggle to fill them?
Ok thats two questions.
The IDF officially stated their main battle tank weighs 80 tons. Is that not enough evidence?
You and I both know the difference between the Merkava 1 and 4 is not 4.5 tons.
Preach brother PREACH
This isn’t related to the ongoing Sholef drama, but what are people’s thoughts on reworking the Magach (especially the later ones like the 7C and Gal Batash) series’ ammunition? I think the 7C in particular would benefit from a round like M428 ‘Sword’ APFSDS. This might mean they get uptiered slightly though, but it would be nice to put all stats into the Magach’s firepower, since they don’t really have protection or mobility on their side. Information on this round can be found on this PDF on page 9.
They should lower their BR, not increase it.
Secondly, if we want better Magachs, we can get the Sabra series. The Sabra with Iron Fist would be a good 10.3
the b-57 and harriers are kinda imported and the ussr have lend lease vehicles
Funny Israeli T-72
Yes, but in general, I mean that the tech trees of the USA/USSR don’t depend on these vehicles to work well, unlike all the other nations, which do to a greater or lesser extent.
Is it a captured Syrian T-72? Do you have more info about it?
The BR thing is debatable, but I’m mostly wanting to improve the ammunition they fire. The Sabra would be nice with M322 though.
The armor and mobility of the Gal Batash and 7C are not up to par with the other 9.3 vehicles.
The only reason they sit at 9.3 is due to the shell they have been given. If it is removed, the vehicles can drop BR.
That’s why I’m suggesting Gaijin give them better firepower. It just seems a waste not to have M428 on at least one Israeli tank.
The issue isn’t their firepower, they’re too slow with no armor.
M426 is powerful at 9.3. M428 would only raise the BR and increase the suffering.
M428 would probably be equipped on some light tank at 10+ BR.
we should have had the Lahat a long time ago…
True, though looking back on it, adding M428 would also increase their battle rating no doubt. Maybe if Israel gets something like the Sabrah light tank it could have M428. I’d definitely like to see the LAHAT for the Magach series though as @el_Argentino mentioned.
I wouldn’t really call the Sabra a light tank lol
Sabrah, not Sabra. 30 tons isn’t the lightest, but it is advertised as a light tank, and is built by Elbit Systems.
I also forgot, we could technically get two variants of the Sabrah, one with Iron Fist, and one without. The one showcased at Eurosatory 2022 had Iron Fist, but the one in service with the Philippine Army doesn’t have it.
