G’day lads! I’m here once again for a suggestion, this time however for a modernized vehicle for Israel, which would be the T-72A TISAS!

T72TISAS

Description:

Spoiler

The T-72A is a Soviet-made main battle tank that has seen extensive service worldwide. However, the variant I am proposing is not just any T-72A. This particular model was modernized by the Israeli company Elbit Systems. This modernization package aimed to improve the tactical, technical, and operational characteristics of the tank, making it a unique blend of Soviet design and Israeli innovation.

T72ATISASSIDEVIEW

You may think that it fires your usual old Soviet shells, but it doesn’t! Elbit Systems makes 125mm rounds, which it of course can fire too. Of course it doesn’t have TISAS in the name for no reason, as that is the name of a system from Elbit. The TISAS (Thermal Imaging Stand Alone System), is an advanced thermal imaging and fire control upgrade system. This system provides the ability to conduct combat operations during both day and night, even in poor visibility conditions. It also increases the probability of hitting enemy targets at long distances with the first shot, providing a significant advantage in combat scenarios.

History:

Spoiler

This T-72A doesn’t have a lot of history, hence why i have to repeat some stuff from the description. Anyway, the T-72A is a Soviet-made main battle tank that has seen extensive service worldwide. The variant was presented at KADEX 2016. This particular model was modernized by Elbit Systems, an Israeli company with a long history in the upgrade and modernization of main battle tanks, combat vehicles, and artillery platforms.

T72AELBIT

The showcase at KADEX 2016 demonstrated the potential of modern technology to enhance the capabilities of existing military hardware. It featured the TISAS, which drastically improved overall performance of the tank by a lot.

Armaments:

Spoiler

As far as i know, this variant still keeps the same loading system and ammo placements, aswell as cannon. Only big difference would be it shooting Elbit made 125mm shells like previously mentioned in the description! From what i can find, it can carry no MGs. Anyway, here are the armaments + shells:

2A46M 125mm cannon capable of shooting:

M711 (MK1)

M711MK1

M711MK1PERFORMANCE

M711/8 (MK2)

M711/8MK2

M710

M710

M710/1

M710/1

M710/2

M710/2

And all Soviet rounds the basic T-72A could carry!

Mobility:

Spoiler

In terms of mobility, it’s nothing special, as it’s is the same as the normal T-72A. As far as I’ve looked, there were no upgrades to it’s engine, meaning that its pretty much the same as your normal T-72A ingame with its speed. So it has your usual ChTZ V-46-6 with 780HP and also the T-72A engine, giving it a max speed of 60km/h. Yes, this sadly also means that it will still have the good ol’ 72 series reverse speed of 4km/h, even with all these upgrades. Of course it will keep it’s same dimensions, those being 9.53m of length with its gun facing forward (or just 6.86m for its hull only), a width of 3.60m above its skirts and lastly it still keeps the height of 2.19m, which compared to western tanks is far smaller.

Electronics:

Spoiler

This upgraded T-72A is jam-packed with electronics of all sorts, like communicational devices, LWS, FCS and much more! All of it improves performance in combat situations.

If it gets Israeli ammunition, I’m all for it, this looks really interesting.

It still has the cupola mount and sight for the 12.7mm, so it definitely can still carry MGs, plus the 7.62mm coaxial.

Penetration at 2000m, mm, 550

Since that’s typically 60° LOS, that puts it pretty close to the 125mm TAPNA round (546mm)

Plus the thermals and LWS system, puts it roughly between the TURMS-T and Moderna in capabilities, which is a pretty big gap for Israel at the moment.

So yeah, +1, should be interesting to play, plus the 9.3-11.0 gap could use filling

So an Israeli T-72 with a nuke round… gimme

Three quick questions tho if you don’t mind:
1: does the commander get an CITV on top, similar to the Turms? Cant quite tell…
2: how effective would the Israeli rounds be in comparison to some of the later Russian ones we have in-game? Would it be inferior or superior to 3BM60 with the limited knowledge you have on them?
3: I understand its mobility and reload are still… horrible to say the least… but what kind of armor are we looking at? What kind of protection will it have compared to other T-72 variants in game?

Anyway, I think this is a wonderful addition for a few reason:
1: easy to add/implement given the models and such are already in game, and the differences that make this T-72 unique aren’t very hard to add.
2: Israel only has the Namer RCWS-30 and Imp. Chaparral at 10.3, with literally zero 10.0 or 10.7 tanks. Depending on how this tank is kitted out and preforms, I think it would be lovely to add if it can fill these spots. And even if it’s better than 10.7 worthy, it’ll still make a fine and unique addition imo.
3: makes Russian mains mad (hehe)
4: Israel needs more tanks at these tiers, as there aren’t too many available options compared to other nations.

Big ol’ +1 from me man!

Much like the Tiran series, this is a really cool upgrade of an old Soviet classic. Frankly, it is even more Israeli than some of the Tiran tanks, as it has domestic ammo, fire control, extra armor. +1 for sure.

+1, a T-72 for everyone!

Yes ik, however i meant as in photographic evidence

  1. I couldn’t find anything about that, so i can’t say anything to that
  2. As somebody_Else said, the MK1 round would be close to the TAPNA, so i assume the MK2 one is even better, so maybe its close to 3BM60 (aside from spall ofc)
  3. From what i know, the armour is the same as your usual T-72A, aside from the extra ERA found on the turret

Overall, it would be like the TURMS minus the CITV and hull ERA, but you get better shells

now we have Namer in 10.3 so it’s time to get this speical T72A

So, this tank has what generation of thermal imager optic?

Sorry for the late response.

As far as I know, there is no directly specified generation, however it is said in the manual “The TISAS features an advanced high performance thermal imaging elbow, a digital ballistic computer as well as gunner and commander displays.”

So possibly either Gen 2 or 3.

This would be a great premium tank, especially if it gets Israeli 125mm ammunition. Best BR I can think of is 9.7, only because its armor is limited but has great firepower. It’s essentially going to be a glass cannon since its main features for in-game are:

  • High-penetration 125mm APFSDS-T and multi-purpose rounds.
  • Thermal Imager/LRF for the Gunner.
  • Thermal Camera for the Driver.
  • Additional armor around the turret (which probably won’t be “too” effective based on what it would have to deal with).
  • Laser Warning Receivers.

Gameplay is going to require a lot of hull-down and support roles.

What this likely refers to is the Commander can take control as necessary, having access to the gun with a display that’s likely very similar in functionality as the Gunner. The Commander likely uses a standard Passive-IR periscope based on the use of the IR search light. Can’t say for certain though considering the Luna IR searchlight is still used next to the gun.

That’s honestly a bit too generous, it’s likely a 10.0-10.3 tank, if you ask me. The hull, reload and reverse are the only weaknesses, which are shared with the T-72 found at 9.3

This tank not only received a quite modern and potent round, but also a wonderful thermal sight of high generation. It also received an up armored turret in regards to the ERA additions there. Thats 3 different upgrades in comparison to the 9.3 T-72, and makes this thing a 10.0 tank at the very minimum.

Yeah but don’t forget if it’s like Blazer ERA or Super Blazer ERA, it’s only good for HEAT rounds with very limited KE protection. Doesn’t look like Kontact-5. If it’s composite, could be a slightly different story but I don’t think it will be too different because it’s not thick. It also has no additional armor on the hull and likely will be penetrated by everything, especially at 10.0-10.3.

Edit: I could see 10.0 but imo nothing higher.

ERA is still ERA, and yeah I have a feeling it’s much more modern. Either way that’s just one of the improvements, and the other 2 definitely warrant a Br of 10.0, similar to the T-72 Turms

I could swing it 10.0 max. Even though it’s ERA, if it’s Super Blazer ERA (which is found on the Gal Batash), it doesn’t do anything for KE and essentially would make it a T-72A with a very good round and thermals but nothing else which would make it easy to detonate the loader in any capacity. It also has gaps above and below the ERA around the turret. Couldn’t even get lucky like how Kontact-1 absorbs KE rounds that it shouldn’t. Granted it could be something else, need more information on the Armor/ERA on the turret @Surbaissemaxxing

+1, I think it’d be great to be added to game

I couldn’t identify the ERA used on the turret, I tried doing that a long time ago, sorry.
