It has no stabilizer, one of the slowest HEAT-FS shells in the game (might be the slowest), not very mobile when faced with 8.7 and above MBTs, made out of paper, the insane zoom is just a downside in city/urban maps, at higher BRs it will face advanced armor and/or ERA and only a light MG to protect itself against helis.
There you go.
You never play tanks with HEAT-FS, they have high pen in theory, but they go dumb and detonate facing grass, bushes and they struggle badly against modern armor.
The IKV91 is fun and a decent tank at 7.7, but i would agree it could go to 8.0.
It has no place at 6.7 as it was before, it had no right being there.
This statement doesn’t just have me questioning whether you’ve played the Ikv before, it has me questioning whether or not you’ve used 90mm HEATFS period. The damage of 90mm HEATFS is so condensed, and so inconsistent, that unless you’re hitting crew or ammo directly, odds are pretty good you’re not going to do any meaningful damage at all.
If you honestly think it doesn’t have to aim for specific areas just because it can theoretically pen anywhere, try playing something like the AUBL and get back to me on how easy it is to be able to pen anything you want.
And if you think high pen HEATFS is such a big advantage that it alone means a vehicle should be moved up, try the Ikv-103 at 4.0.
And finally, if you think high pen HEAT and decent speed is all you need to survive at 8.7, pick any 8.7 tank, turn off the stabilizer, load HEAT only, and tell us how enjoyable that experience was. Then keep in mind that the Ikv has a longer reload, a much slower shell, and even weaker armor.
I agree with you that it should go up to 8.0 but not further (unless they massively decompress above 8.0 too but that is too hypothetical a discussion right now). It’s good but not that good. It doesn’t rank together with stuff as the JPz 4-5 or the ASU 85 as heat slingers that “fit” WW2 matches because of how they perform, so it should go up, but it should still be competitive or there’s no point spawning it.
(And also, as a German main: Ru shouldn’t be 7.3 either. It belongs with Leopard I).
But just as a sidenote, you might underestimate a little the APHE thing. Yes, you’re right, the crew is packed, so in theory a well placed shot should cripple it even if the APHE doesn’t fuze, but for some reason I can’t fathom, the damage model of light vehicles in WT is so broken that in reality, it’s not at all as reliable as you say. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve hit the three crew close to the ammo only for the 128mm APHE to mysteriously bounce or be eaten by optics, which then leads to a painful 18s reload that will never finish because the IKV will then proceed to pick you apart.
That gets pretty frustrating.
Still, yeah, what you said. It’s not 8.7 material whatsoever.
fun fact about the ikv 103, its currently bugged and has been for years where the shell size, instead of being 105, is 1,005mm… hence why it clips on everything in a 5 mile radius of the shell
I am snot on your oppinion i also play the ikv 91 and it has its flaws like if you are in a fight with in 100 metres you get machine guned also most of the time you get one hit it doesnt matter how angelt you are and often you munition explodes also in 8.0 most of the time you get an uptier like 75% of my death are because of apfsds. You also play against some aps also you dont have a stabilizer and termals.
It is now 8.0 but i dont understand why the objekt 120 has the same br it has more pen with apfsds and better heat. Please if i am wrong say it because i never played the soviet tech tree but i think the objekt 120 is way better.
Also i can understand it a bit why its now 8.0 because heat got Fixed so it makes aktually damage and you can one hit somebody without hitting the munition.
