Yeah… i feel that.
Would be very nice for the greedy snail to stop being greedy for at least 5 seconds.
Think what you like, but it has not been hard to tell what the “carrot on the stick” has been for a very long time now . . . not at all

Congrats, the game progressed to more modern vehicles. Like you said yourself, you can keep playing your slow and old tank BR. Doesn’t mean the game hasn’t gotten stale for those people that enjoy modern vehicles.
I never said it didn’t . . . you seem to have a difficult time processing an
“opinion” . . . I don’t know why, but in any case, I don’t have anything to
“defend” anyway.
As I said, think what you like.
There’s a contradiction here. If the top-tier focus was just a “false narrative” players created, why did Gaijin abandon their “no top-tier premiums” policy and start actively selling them? That’s not responding to player demand, that’s actively driving it.
Your point about fun being subjective is solid. But the question isn’t whether lower tiers are enjoyable (they are). It’s whether the game’s monetization structure has shifted to incentivize top tier grinding. And the evidence shows it has.
PS: since Tencent’s involvement investing in Gaijin, the monetization strategy has shifted toward premium content at higher tiers. That’s not speculation but a documented business change that correlates with design decisions
$$ . . . . I would think that is extremely obvious
It’s a business after all
And that was pretty much all I was saying about the changes in marketing,
content offered and so on . . . prime focus has been high tier.
What has happened to the OP(and others I am sure) is just a different
kind of “burnout” than we had here than in the past.
More players, more stuff, less patience(which was already kinda rare anyway . . . lol)
Anyway, it is what it is, and I should have made a point that the numbers I threw
out there were speculation on my part, more for emphasis than anything.
My bad
At that point where you think “I think I’ll play some War Thunder”, log in then stare at the hanger screen for 20min wondering what would actually be fun to play, then just log out again are you?
It gets like that sometimes, it might be time to take a few months off the game.
for me its map selection the boring stuff, the higher tier the smaller the maps its soo boring when you wanna play something that isnt a tank or autocannon and you get into these small city maps full of random objects that only allow for APFSDS to be reliable, five times in a row, then you get one decent map and the next one again is a small map
May I suggest checking out my suggestion in the Suggestions: Maps/Missions/Events section then? It might be to your interest.
But on topic for this thread… Yeah. The game has been collapsed down from several missions, modes, and gameplay to being focused on TDM in shoeboxes for most of the vehicles modeled. Tanks at best are ‘sniping’ in zones that IRL are an operational nightmare for any armored division, aircraft in most modes excluding Sim EC either have to be competent dogfighters for their rating or have the defensive weapons to hold off fighters long enough to get payload out, and ships are… Well, oooof.
You know what else is stale, the fact I can’t even play the game on Xbox without needing to restart the game every match because the cursor stops working in the next match otherwise. Like ah yes, play the game but also you can’t because of a bug that nobody acknowledges(bug report is just gonna sit there and never be noticed).
If your focus is purely “what top tier vehicle can o grind out?” Then yeah, the game got stale.
I hardly touch top tier anymore because the gameplay sucks. For those who play the other 95% of the game, it has not been too bad.
Do you mean 5th gen? Because J-20 is 5th gen
Also if you are waiting for 6th gen, it’s going to in the 2030s because most of them don’t have much declassified info.
Complaining about the bmpt is genuinely becoming so stale, brother theres other br range that wont even see the bmpt and other Gamemode
have you ever thought maybe people used to enjoy the br range the bmpt is now at and want to play that br range without having to face the bmpt
Consider the following.
Some people do not enjoy older vehicles, and prefer to play modern vehicles. Playing 10.0+ was tolerable with any nation. 10.3+ is annoying to play if you’re not playing RU or playing with RU.
I agree with the game being incredibly stale. Look for suggestions in the forums and make sure to give them a vote!
Here is a recent one that would be amazing to mix up your gameplay: New game mode for Mixed Realistic Battles - Frontline
I hope for longer gameplay on bigger Maps with more strategic slower gameplay rather than missile fest. For example I use my 5th gen to strategically remove anti air on the ground so my 4th gen teammates can bring in heavier ordinance or I lodge a missile over great distance to take out an enemy. Something where I can first fly for a little bit and access the situation, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Yeah 5th gen
It doesn’t help Gaijin markets themselves as a “modern military simulator” and the only way to actually enjoy the game as advertised is… to grind. I got what I’ve wanted, I have friends to screw around with in Customs, but to play Pubs is just so repetitive and boring that it’s hard to even want to play.
Of course there are the “Only in Battlefield moments” in War Thunder, but 99% of your games are just you carrying the team while half your team is premiums that disappeared three minutes in the game (top tier) or kamikaze pilots (WWII tiers).
Cold War is so hilariously compressed that sometimes it’s not worth playing, because either you got the rare downtier into WWII where you bully them with APDS/HEAT-FS with single digit reload time, while they have to wait 15+ seconds to fire, or you are facing Gepard spam.
There is no semblance of realism either, because of the compression. You got modern SPGs in the 1950s, with prototype jets from WWII, in an American desert town. Like I would love to use an IS-2 with a MiG 15bis, or a Sherman 76 with an F-86, but you don’t get that unless you go into Customs, and then if you join a niche roleplay community, they’re the biggest snobs there are. Same with Vietnam: M48 with a Phantom is not possible, closest you get is MiG 15bis/J-2 (which was a trainer) and T-54. But that’s still off by 0.3 BR.
It sucks a game that promotes “relive history” in a “modern military game” cannot grant you history (post 6.0 BR) or modern vehicles (unless you spend months grinding, spend weeks bombing in Sim, or dropping $80 with taxes on vehicles to kinda-sorta play what is advertised).
You should pick a few planes you really enjoy and stick to those, sometimes I force myself to do well in vehicles I don’t really enjoy (F86-A5) or vehicles that suffer from bad teams and a very competitive matchmaker making nearly every match a struggle (FR1 Fireball). That’s a terrible habit and builds frustration when fun and enjoyable vehicles like the F8U (despite the damn wings falling off grrr) or the F4E II, F86F2, F2H, F3H exist and are free to play as much as you like.
This is a really quaint post but I think it’s something a lot of players forget over time and after grinding so much.
