The game is stale

I kind of hit a ceiling? Ground is too broken because of the BMPT so I dont play that on my own anymore. For Air I am just waiting for 6th gen, J-20A to be specific and I dont for the life of me understand how to grind helicopters. Yes there is the PvE mode but no matter what I do I dont get any meaningful XP. Why cant Gaijin fix helicopters and ground? Nerf the BMPT to the ground and make Heli gameplay in PvE more rewarding. I WANT to play but everytime I launch the game it just feels pointless. Gaijin. Pls fix Heli PvE. Please nerf the BMPT.

Grind a new nation?

I have the nations I want. I dont want to grind a new one. I hate the grind actually.

I want to grind Helicopters but the game doesnt allow me.

Not just stale but broken as well. Not a very enjoyable gaming experience.

Oh my god, this image perfectly describes me.
In the mornings I think, “This afternoon when I get home I’ll play a few hours of War Thunder and unlock some stuff.” In the afternoon I play six matches, half of them doing ODL and I end up spending hours either using vehicles in the test drive mode, or watching YouTube videos about massages.
It’s simply a matter of playing and then losing the desire to play. This has never happened to me with any other game.

So you only play Ground TT/Semi TT only and arcady point and click TT air?

bruh wt players in 2026

You skipped like 90% of the game’s content speed grinding to top tier,
only to play the same few vehicles over & over.

That’s not a “game thing” that’s a you thing . …
There are 31+ BR plus Air and Naval modes that NEVER even see a BMPT.

So it honestly appears like you’re ramming your head into the same wall
at the same spot, non stop and now wonder why you have a headache?

If you’re not willing to try some new things in the game, really no one else
to blame for your “lack of entertainment”.

Go for camos, spade stuff, heck do Battle Pass tasks/Challenges . .
The game is HUGE now, something for everyone . . . broaden your horisons

Honestly, joining random customs brought life to this game for me. You get to play and enjoy the game, but without the usual downfalls.

I always imagine sitting in a Strv 74 or Pvkv m/43 (1963), and flanking / ambushing / sniping enemies across a great big map. And when i actually play im locked in a cagefight with 50 shermans or T-34s

I get alot of players hate larger maps due to spawncamping but i really want a Team-objective deathmatch with no caps game-mode where players spawn across their side and make their way to whatever location they want to kill the enemy Truck / logistics convoy that the other team have to guard against the attacking side,

5th and 6th gen fighters won’t be as funny as people expect them to be.

Years ago I’ve hit similar walls too. The thing is, War Thunder has good gameplay at specific tiers (3.7-11.3 for me), but the game’s structure pushes you toward “unlock everything asap” rather than enjoying what you’re playing.

I’m thorough; I unlock all modules before judging a vehicle. But the BMPT broke that principle. It’s so overtuned and effortless that I couldn’t justify playing it and stopped before unlocking all modules. It felt dirty. Using something that easy to be invincible doesn’t feel like playing. It felt like exploiting a broken system. And that shouldn’t be someone’s experience grinding a vehicle.

Don’t chase top tier if it’s not fun. Pick a BR you actually enjoy and stay there. That’s where the game is good

5th gen*

But yeah. Im mostly the same boat.

I dont play above 10.3 anymore because of the BMPToxic

Naval is really unbalanced at the moment

Air is just repetitive.

The vehicles are for the most part great. But when and where you use them just gets old fast.

Doing the air event the past week has been a chore. I like air more than the others at the moment, but its still quite a few matches, and even bouncing between aircraft only delays the reptitiveness. Now its done. Im probably not going to be touching hte game much for a while. Basically nothing of note coming in this next major update

You get game modes that require an iq of less than 50 but in order to pander to those that fit those requirements, you force average-to-good players in those same lobbies to preserve queue times. Apparently, players have an attention span of a goldfish or that’s what Gaijin thinks.

This game has so much potential to be more than just a glorified cod game but I don’t think we’ll ever see it.

The game’s “progression” leads you to higher tiers, but the object of the
game has never been to get to top tier as fast possible. That is the players,
content creators and streamers creating a “false narrative”.

Gaijin’s marketing, in particular the “sponsorships” of streamers(most that
were not even regular players of the game, but had “high viewer numbers”),
brought in a lot of new players. The majority of which were younger people
and it seems most of them had little to no knowledge of older war vehicles
or any desire to learn about or play them. All they wanted was “top tier”
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee . . . … you get the idea.
And it changed the entire dynamic of the game, a lot . . .
and Gaijin saw a huge increase in revenues, so . . . in their eyes I am sure
it was seen as a huge success . . . being a business and all that.

So, things have gone on with 90% of the game being largely ignored while
10% of the game has gotten 90% of the attention of the game makers for
the past few years.

And what happens? . . . you get guys like the OP . . . already “bored”.
New players come in, buy a couple high tier premiums, go straight to the top
and either get seriously spanked and quit, or some stick with it and grind out
a single tree . . but that’s about it prolly. They consider it far too much work to
try to do another nation . . … the reasons vary as much as the players do I am sure.

Point being, mashing it to the top is not the object of the game, players
each get to decide what that is for them.

Personally, after 12+ years playing almost every single day, I think the single
best objectvie one can choose is to have fun. That’s it . . . whatever that means
to each individual player. We all like different things, so how can there only be
ONE way to play the game?

Anyway, just my opinion . . . to each his own. But I have a hard time
understanding how anyone can get bored, even if they owned every
vehicle in the game. (I have 2221 and there are still tons more left to get!!)

p.s. I don’t play high tier, at all. I am not a fan of BVR or guided weapons with
vast ranges that far exceed the limits of the old style maps. No game to it for me.
I play AB Air & some AB tanks at mid range BRs. Naval I play AB & RB in Bluewater,
I do play all the way to the top in Naval, but it is quite different. That will change if they add modern weaponry(which I think is already in the works) because who wants to get one shot by an anti-ship missile from over 30 - 40 kms away?
Not me . . . . Not really a fan of Coastal since the split and I cannot fly helis to save my life . . lol.

But I still have fun, I don’t get bored(always find something to do, I have done every BP so far, ALL of them) so to me, regardless of the focus of others or the Devs,
I’ll be alright . . but most of it is . . . in the head

Imagine thinking this is true lol. Most streamers/CC don’t even play top tier or anything beyond 10.0 unless its for a video.

They did, and for a very long time . . . what is your source data?

and . . . . eSports is what exactly?

Whats your source besides your feelings ?

Yeah… i feel that.
