Pretty simple really.
When every squadron out there is in another language or has 99% of their players inactive, it’s kind of hard to join a squadron. As for just generally squading up, no one does that if you don’t already know people who play the game. Like legit the only time I’ve ever done that is in Naval once because and random and I played a really good light cruiser and destroyer duo.
Or require you to have discord, or sign up to thier forums. It is hard, but it can be done.
My squadron I merely turf out the inactives every so often, and there’s no requirements to squad or be active, jut being over a couple of hundred at least is the rough gauge I use.
It is easier to do with people who you also know play the game, but the chat is ther, and your friendslist can be expanded on.
Autosquadie is a common one to be real, but also ask your team if you find a group of you did well. It’s a good thing.
But yea, I don’t even know what that squad ‘update’ was going to be that passed in mentioning most recently on the roadmap… It sounded promising and interesting but it wasn’t expanded on.

Actually, you’re responding to the idea of simply squading and grouping up, trying to dismiss the point whilst making out that anyone who does squad, has no life. Because that is what the alternative is… You can’t squad because you have a life, but anyone who does squad, mustn’t…

The game is certainly in the worst state I have known it and apparently the numbers are at an all-time low. I’m not getting into a " The game is dying" post but I’m finding queue time at certain times to way longer than they ever were.
My top tier was 6-7 BR now it 5BR and in order to get any sense and enjoyment from the game I am having to go sink further and further down the BR levels. WW2 always my thing but that is crime now and I am getting punished. There was a time when we were all accommodated but not now. Er separation issues aside ,those who love WW2 had a home with War Thunder but that is only the case in so few BRs now.
I still enjoy the game mostly but my old stomping ground of 5-6 BR is just and immersion dead zone now full of random post war artillery. If Gaijin want to do silly then fine.
I have noticed uptiers and queue times are so much higher in certain BR levels now so maybe others feel as I do. I see so many level 100 veterans at 4-5 BR as well.
I have no issue with people wanting modern warfare but the game did cater for all of us once. Same with the maps. One type fits all now.
Yes the game is as bad as I have known it and getting worse.
My preferred BRs exactly, but of course don’t publicise it or you’ll have all the elitists coming out of the woodwork telling you you’re nothing but a seal clubber because you play mid tier and not top tier.
I did 80,90s tanks for real so there is no magic there for me. German WW2 Armour is my thing, I must have been and Nazi in a former life :)
Yes you are right the "Must do " brigade on here are tiresome and pathetic.
There are some damn fine people on this forum dotted about though. I tend to learn from them what I can and set the clowns to ignore.
I cant help but think overall that this forum is the real problem with this game and the reason its in decay.
The maps are ruined because Gaijin listen to the moaners on here. A simple shift in BR destroys line ups overnight. We have constant bleating about CAS balance and almost constant secret nerfing between every game.
In order to invest time or money into game you have to trust that game and many simply don’t trust Gaijin or Warthunder any more.
I wont spend money now and I am spending less and less time now as well .
Every time I use map knowledge to play my game I find the map has changed and I am in limbo, instead of the cover I was expecting it’s a big open soccer pitch or a huge rock has been plonked in the map space. I just switch off in disgust and do something else.
I haven’t played WT in almost 2 months now and I don’t plan to play it in the future either. :) I just check the forums from time to time to see what is going on. All I can see is WT destroying itself even more. :)
Not that they just managed to destroy maps, AirRB gamemode, to bring in even more bugs to the point the game is unplayable. They managed to kill the whole appeal of WT that was here from 2013 to 2018.
WT is just getting further from it by the new disappointing and lackluster roadmap planned for summer. They are adding swedish KingTiger… destroying nation diversity even more, at this point just add KT to US too as they captured one. :) Why not ? It does not matter anymore apparently.
Personally I am not a fan of the planned addition of crew healing which makes the game in my eyes even more arcady but I am just part of the minority which is fine. :)
I just hope that people will enjoy this game as much and for as long as my friends and me. We played the game since 2013 regularly just for the enjoyment. But in the last 2-3 years the changes destroyed this whole part of the game.
I agree with pretty much everything you and Dragon_SK have said and I’ve left the game recently myself. So tired of the constant tribalism on here. If it’s not the CAS guys vs the tank users, it’s arcade vs realistic with each group arguing theirs is the only valid cohort and the rest are mere plebs making up the numbers whose opinions count for nothing.
As for your comment on the maps and using positions to advantage, Gaijin made it pretty clear when mod Pacifica came out and said “WT is NOT a sniping game” and went on to completely dismiss taking a good firing position using available cover that maximises the attributes of your tank in favour of outright brawling, which it’s clear by the map “redesigns” is the direction Gaijin wants the game to go.
After all, that makes for much faster games which result in correspondingly shorter queue times.
This also corresponds with the completely braindead Lemming approach of a lot of players lately, which has been one of my chief gripes and which my friend the Flying Dictator informs me is 100% MY problem for playing arcade and not playing high tier. Why would anyone want to actually use any sort of tactics in WT?

Numbers are still at an all-time high, and the game 5 years ago was slower to progress, had more bugs, less vehicles, far less balanced… just to name quick things off the top of my head.
It’s funny how you lowered your personal BR from 7 to 5 despite BR 7 being entirely unbalanced 5 years ago and even worse 8 years ago.

Some even have the chat turned off to avoid everything.
