So, this happens many times. It is almost end the of the game, I kill the last enemy and the last enemy cut off one of my Yak-3P’s wings, I am still perfectly flyable (means by any chance, it is 100% can fly back to airfield to land), but when the tickets runs out, the game forcing me to J out the plane (I didn’t touch anything). That makes me have to pay the repair cost. Why is this happen? Need official answer.
Severe damage sustained at the end of the match makes it a kill (and the one who shot off your wing got the kill). Read up in the severe damage descriptions.
also you have the pay the repair cost no matter what it’s not oh you survived you don’t pay once you spawn thats when you pay
And someone else earns the SL from killing you.

Actually not - he got SLs for the severe damage, the kill by “written off” gives neither SL nor the 90 points mission score; but he got a kill for his service record…
Oh, I didn’t know that. Thanks for pointing it out.
So I should better suicide in that case?
Not at all, its far better than it was.
You were severely damaged, you’d be counted as “dead” under the old system in the same situation, and you would have paid the same repair costs. (Who the heck even cares about repair costs anymore anyway? They fixed those like two years ago, and fixed them again even harder earlier this year)
Severely damaged means “probably dead” and you get 80% of the rewards of a kill and a kill counted in your service record even if someone else finished them off afterwards.
Its to prevent kill stealing, and prevent false flagging of enemies that can still fly (and sometimes fight) as being dead.
Even though its not perfect, its a hundred times better than what it was before.
No, u are doomed if you get severe damaged even if you killed as last last players your enemy in a 1 vs 1. As soon as the tickets run out u get cleansed.
If you crash on purpose in this case ur enemy gets the remaining 20% for his kill and the 90 points mission score.
You have a theoretical chance if you forced him into flat spinning at high alt (not killed) and he floats down in slow motion without leaving his plane - and you have an airfield nearby and a 10 second repair - almost impossible to get this.
At no cost to me? (j-out works the same I assume)
No cost is relative - even repair cost are very low, u pay them.
J out or crashing on purpose is ill advised - why giving a stranger a gift?
I had at least 3 times the same issue like the op - killed the last player and get written off as soon as tickets went to zero; 2 of them were engine deaths, i could have easily glided back to my base…annoying like hell.
But I pay repair regardless, don’t I?
I either J-out or get mission-end terminated.
So it makes no difference to me.
Why give Gaijin a gift if I can give it to a player?
For J-ing out: You seem to pay full repair cost if you J out before pilot dies or tail is cut off.
And auto-kill does not impose full cost? In ARB at the end of the match?
Depends how long the match lasted.
In props quite likely.
With the F8U-2, I’ve had games end in less than 10 minutes.
